Londonbeat & Traumton – I’ve Been Thinking About You (Remake)

The German act Traumton started remixing and producing mainly in a club related House and Deep House style, before they put hands on 2 former international hits: With the remakes of Tina Charles’ world hit ‚I Love to Love‘ from 1976 and David Christies’ smash hit ‚Saddle Up‘ from 1982, they gained international success, achieved several top 10 positions in various charts and over 10 million streamings.

For their new single Traumton teamed up with the British group Londonbeat for a remake of their international hit ‚I’ve Been Thinking About You‘.

Londonbeat was founded in 1988 and had their international breakthrough with ‚I’ve Been Thinking About You in autumn 1990. Earlier the 3 founding members from the US Jimmy Helms, George Chandler and Jimmy Chambers had success independently of each other with different projects, such as frontman of the The Olympic Runners or background singers for Paul Young.

Finally signed to Dave Stewart’s (Eurythmics) Anxious Label, the single peaked at No.1 in 27 countries, including a #1 in the US Billboard Charts, and all over Europe. Beside‚ I’ve Been Thinking About You, Londonbeat also scored a couple of other hits as well and reached several high chart positions, including the US billboard #20 with singles like ‚You Bring on the Sun, A Better Love or Come Back.

For the new version, all vocals for ‚I’ve Been Thinking About You were new recorded at the Premises Studios in London. This year the two founding members Jimmy Helms and Jimmy Chambers separated from their long-time member Myles Kayne and engaged the new member Charles Pierre.

Londonbeat are still playing live all over the world every week, and also performed last year in some of the most important TV shows in Europe.

A remix package with different mixes including an acoustic version will also be released this year.

Music Musings and Such

It’s Not Records

Tell us your real names, country of birth and childhood experience.

Born and raised in New York, and I grew up playing classical piano. I started writing songs when I was about fourteen, and really loved it as a way of expressing myself. Been doing it ever since!

.

.

.

Tell us your academic qualification.

Never studied music in school, but I’m a classically trained pianist.

.

.

.

Elaborate on your music career, band name, experience and skills.

I started writing songs when I was a kid, but really took music seriously after college. That’s when I played open mics, shows, and decided I wanted to send the songs that I write out there and not keep it to myself. My name actually comes from a nickname my friends used to call me in high school. It was a play off my real name “Jasmine.” I always thought cool artists had stage names when I was a kid, and I guess it kind of stuck with me. I’ll deem it as symbolic.

.

.

.

Tell us your genre and idea behind your music video/song.

I think my music is a mix of genres, but have been labelling it folk/pop or chamber folk – sometimes country or jazz filters through. My song “Something Alive” is loosely based on a book I’m working on, which is inspired by my relationship with my background and my identity as an Asian American. It’s very much reflecting a journey of “finding yourself”, which can be sometimes hard when you have ties to both the American and the Asian parts of yourself. I wanted the music video to portray that story too. I was really honoured to have worked with Erik Lu from Descendant Films and this mega team at Maestro Filmworks – many of whom are Asian American filmmakers – as well as an Asian cast, to help tell this narrative.

.

.

.

Tell us how to run a record label based on your experience as an artist.

I’d want a record label to be transparent, to understand an artist’s music and what she wants to say, and work with her together to grow and build a career in the industry.

.

.

.

List your various works.

.

Tell us how you are promoting your music.

Social media, reaching out to Spotify playlists, press people, radio stations – just sending my stuff as much as I can out there.

.

.

.

State the names of other members of your band, music producer, crew or music video director.

Jerry Jean produced my new EP (due 2019), music video director is the amazing Erik Lu of Descendant Films Crew/producers are from Maestro Filmworks headquartered in Philadelphia.

.

.

.

Tell us other activities you are pursuing apart from music.

Baking has become a new favourite hobby! Other than that, I just spend time with my family when I get downtime.

.

.

.

Tell us how long you have been in the music business, your experience and your future goal.

I’ve been pursuing music seriously for about two years. While I’ve always been writing songs, I started sharing them through an EP and on stage in 2016. Since then, I’ve been really going for every opportunity that comes my way, some that I’ve created myself and others I was lucky enough to come across. My goal for the next few years is to release this EP, connect with listeners and other artists, and hopefully play a tour.

.

.

.

Tell us what makes you unique from others.

The kind of music I’m always aiming to make is one that connects with you, because that’s the stuff that I really like. Music with emotional lyrics and interesting melodies and is saying something poignant. I don’t know if I always achieve that, but that’s what I hope makes my songs unique.

Anna Wolf – Believer

Anna Wolf creates alternative music with lyrics that are layered with a poignancy that she uses to hypnotize audiences on a journey of self-discovery that leave you with the feeling of being heard. Wolf’s debut single BELIEVER delves into her turbulent early life and how she refused to become the victim of her circumstance.

Anna Wolf created the track in a bathtub and sent the recording to a world-renowned producer who cleared his schedule and summoned her to his studio. Some of the noise she made in the tub, made it into Believer’s explosive final mix.

“Now I leave my past behind.” – (Believer – Anna Wolf)

Believer is the debut single from South African chanteuse Anna Wolf.  Believer delves into Wolf’s own turbulent early life and her refusal to become the victim of her circumstance. She wrote Believer inspired by the need to break the silence over domestic violence.

Wolf was born in Pretoria, South Africa to a nurturing mother and a troubled father. Her childhood was often a nomadic existence with her father’s demons forcing the family to leave town at a moment’s notice.

“As a child I hid away a lot, either under beds or in trees. I escaped by using my hands and body to melt and hide into my own skin. I use to listen to music then. Music became my armour, my strength. Soon enough, I realized that it was safe for my skin to come out and breath.” – (Anna Wolf)

In 2018, Anna left South Africa and followed her heart to London, where one night she took her guitar to the bathtub and recorded herself performing a song on her cell-phone by stomping her feet against the tub.

She sent the demo to producer and remixer Pete Boxta Martin, (Missy Elliot, Jessie J, Sugababes) who offered her an artist development deal on the spot and summoned her to the iconic Matrix Recording Studios (Adele, Lana Del Rey).

That week they recorded the track ‘Believer’ and three others that will be released as part of her debut EP in the coming months. Some of the noise Wolf made in the bath even made it into Boxta Martin’s explosive final mix.

Affectionately known as the Jacks, the young pop-rap duo Jack & Jack used video-sharing sites, music-sharing sites, and other bits of social media to launch their career in 2014. Friends since kindergarten, Jack Gilinsky and Jack Johnson gained a loyal following thanks to a series of short comedic videos they uploaded to the Web in 2013. Music came a year later, first with the laid-back track “Distance” and then with the party cut “Wild Life.” The latter climbed into the U.S. Billboard Hot 100 that summer, a summer that was also the duo’s first as high-school graduates. In 2015, they released their Calibraska EP, hit the road with Katelyn Jae and Dyllan Murray on the Pop Nation Tour, and appeared as featured artists on Murray’s single “Firecracker” single. They returned in 2017 with the Gone EP.
