Playing with Fire is a concept album by Allison Conrad, a Canadian singer-songwriter based in East London. As a pianist and songwriter, she takes musical inspiration from artists like Regina Spektor and Sara Bareilles.
The album is inspired by four complex and powerful female characters from the novels and hit HBO series, “Game of Thrones.” Drawing from the challenges and triumphs of these characters, the songs provide the listener with an engaging tour of the female experience through fear, vengeance, power, and resilience. From haunting string descants to driving Celtic rhythms, the songs are as diverse as the women they represent. Transcendent throughout the album is a clear message that through each woman’s pain and suffering lies inspiration and resilience.
Playing with Fire is the first EP release for Allison Conrad, recorded at Mattison Studio with producer and sound engineer, Julien Baraness. Featuring in the final track is a singer-songwriter, Lin Hamami, who delivers a powerful solo as a grand finale to the album.
