This marks his first release as a solo artist after winning BBCs’ Let It Shine hosted by Graham Norton and Mel Giedroyc in 2018 where Amber Riley said “I’m going to call you quiet storm”.
He spent the following year performing a leading role in the Take That record breaking musical ‘The Band’ performing so far to over 350,000 people.
From a humble beginning born and raised on a council estate in Leeds, having taught himself to play piano, Curtis has worked with established artists and award-winning writers.
He wrote Blue and Don’t Hold Back for Matt Cardle as part of his Intimate and Live Tour with Matt choosing Blue as his last song of the tour.
After performing ‘Put Your Records On’ on Let It Shine, he received contact from Corinne Bailey Rae congratulating him on a great version of the song and announcing herself as ‘#TeamCurtis.’
He has worked alongside Grammy nominated, ASCAP and BRIT award winning writers John Beck and Steve Chrisanthou (Corinne Bailey Rae, Izzy Bizu, Paloma Faith, Pixie Lott, Eliza Doolittle, Charlotte Church, Tasmin Archer) whom he collaborated with to write his debut EP.
Now starting his career as an artist, Curtis has always been a dedicated songwriter since an early age writing for both established and upcoming artists including Callum Beattie, Krrum, Ray Quinn, Joe Miles, BUD and Malaika.
Many of which have received BBC Introducing support.
Malaika, championed by Jamie Cullum, won £10,000 as part of a competition in which the winning entry was a song she wrote together with Curtis ‘Stop For a Minute’.
Because of his collaborative writing he has totaled 2 million streams on Spotify.
His biggest contemporary influences include Aretha Franklin, Stevie Wonder, K.D Lang, Alicia Keys, Emeli Sande, Gary Barlow, Brandon Flowers and MIKA.
Curtis’ debut EP ‘Fears’ focusses on mental health issues and speaks on his journey through the music industry to this point so far.

Alongside his work in music and songwriter Curtis is a patron of the charity Cash for Kids and an ambassador for Bone Cancer Research Trust regularly performing gigs to raise money.
