Go into detail on why you decided to choose music as a career.

Music has always been my love. I can’t imagine doing anything else. I love every part of music. I love performing, writing, and the business aspect of the industry. It is amazing to me to be able to do something I love as a career.

.

.

.

Brief us the feedback you are getting from fans on your music.

I receive a lot of positive feedback about my music. A lot of my fans say that my music is relatable to them which is always my goal when writing.

.

Discuss the relevance of social networking to music.

Social networking is everything! The music industry is all about connections! You need to know people and be able to build a good reputation amongst people in the industry.

.

.

.

Tell us how you record your song.

I recorded my song at Patrice Peris Voice Studios, a studio I have taken voice lessons at for years. Since June 2018, I have also worked for the studio. I recorded with Kevin Ward of Ryley Music Productions. Kevin is a traveling recording studio. Losing Game was the second song I have recorded with him and working with him has always been amazing!

.

Tell us the story behind the song.

Last year a new friend came into my life and we became close very quickly. I loved the relationship we had. We had so much fun together and I loved the way he cared about me. This friend then began to express a romantic interest in me and I expressed that I did not feel the same. This put a strain on our friendship and this person began to add a lot of negativity and stress to my life. He would make me upset day after day yet I still couldn’t end the friendship. That is where the title “Losing Game” came from. I remember always thinking about how the friendship was going nowhere but downwards. We were hurting each other more than making each other happy. “Losing Game” is basically a diary of what was going on in my head throughout that time.

.

.

State your musical skills.

I am a singer and songwriter. I have been drumming for about nine years. My main instrument is the drum set but a few years ago I picked up the cajon and I love playing that during performances.

.

.

.

Tell us how long it takes to complete a song from the start.

The amount of time it takes me to complete a song varies. Sometimes it takes me months, other times it seems as if the lyrics are writing themselves and it takes minutes to write. After the initial creation of the song, I bring it to other singer/songwriters and get their opinions of the song and edit. After the song is finalized, I record it which then takes a couple months to be mixed and finalized. On average, the completion of a song takes a few months.

.

.

.

Go into detail on how you develop your lyrics and melody.

I like to listen to different tracks and then hum along with them. I sing some different melodies until one sticks out to me. I want my songs to be catchy and to stick in people’s heads. So I sing different melodies over and over again until one just feels right. It sits right in the pocket of the track, and then I add lyrics! To develop lyrics, I usually start with one phrase that I like as a chorus. Then I try to build the chorus around that phrase. From there, I build verses around the chorus. Typically, everything stems from that one key phrase that I fall in love with.

.

.

Discuss music in full details.

My music is majorly pop style. I like to have a little bit of an edge in my songs as well. I tend to write sad songs more often than happy. I find it difficult to write a happy song that doesn’t sound super cheesy. I think that it’s easier to write sad songs because we focus so much on our emotions when they aren’t good.

.

.

.

State your five favourite genres of music with reasons.

Pop – Pop music has always been easy to listen to for me. I love the simplicity.

Pop/Punk – I like pop/punk because it has a bit of edge to it. A lot of pop music now is mainly computerized. I find that the pop/punk songs are still real, live instruments and I love that. I love going to concerts and seeing bands.

Country – My family loves country music, so I have been forced to listen to it, and I find myself enjoying it. Country music has a lighter feel to it which a lot of times feels therapeutic to me.

.

.

.

Discuss your rehearsal.

My rehearsals are just repetition. I sing and play the songs over and over again until it’s all muscle memory, so even if my brain freaks out during a performance, my body kind of goes on autopilot and keeps performing.

.

.

.

State your favourite musical instruments.

My favorite music instruments are percussion instruments. I love drums! I love going to a concert and being able to feel the bass drum in my chest. Drums are the backbone of music and add a steadiness that I think humans crave, maybe without knowing it.

.

.

.

Describe the chemistry between you and your fans during a live performance.

The chemistry is always good; seeing people smiling while I am performing just calms me down and it kind of feels like a mutual appreciation. They like what I’m doing and it’s making them happy, which makes me happy and the performance overall better.

.

.

.

Discuss your personality in full details.

I am super laid back. I go with the flow but am also very driven. When I have something I want to do, I don’t stop until I accomplish it. I am hardworking and focused.

.

.

.

Discuss your music career.

My music career is hopefully on the rise. I have been working hard to keep building my career and a name for myself. It’s so amazing to me when people reach out to me and tell me they love my music and have been supporting me. There is nothing better.

Share your memorable experiences with us.

I think my most memorable experiences have been the releases of my two songs. It is so scary and exciting releasing a song because I have put so much time and emotion into it. It is something that I have created. They are so personal and I am deciding to push them out in the world. Then seeing people listening to the music is so amazing. It is just incredible to me that people I have never met are choosing my music to listen to.

.

.

.

Share your press release and reviews with us.

The reviews have been good so far! It’s only been one day but the most common response I have gotten is people saying that they can relate to it, and that is amazing!

.

.

.

State your artist’s name and elaborate on it.

My artist name is just my name, Renee Lamy. 🙂

.

.

.

State the title of the song and the meaning.

The title of the song is “Losing Game” and basically means a game/situation that only has one outcome: loss. It is a game that you cannot win; it is only going to end in one way, no matter how you play it.
