Tell us your real names, country of birth and childhood experience.

Lars Boquist was born in Sweden. I started to play guitar at the age of twelve. I am self-taught. I was influenced by the 70s hard rock bands like Black Sabbath, Thin Lizzy, Queen, Ac Dc…. I started my first band …

.

.

.

Tell us your academic qualification.

I am a Master of Science holder in engineering, and a degree holder in computer programming. No education in music.

.

.

.

Elaborate on your music career, band name, experience and skills.

I have released nine albums so far.

Bands: Dizziness, Pole Position, Reptilian, Neondaze, Fair of Freaks, Lars Boquist and Lars Boquist & The 1712s.

I was featured in American magazine Guitar Player in 1987.

With Dizziness we first released a maxi single in 1985. A year later a whole album was recorded but wasn’t released until 2013.

In 1991 we recorded the first Pole Position album. It was released 1993. A second album was released 1998.

With Reptilian we released two albums, 2001 and 2003. In 2008 I released the Neondaze album. It was really just me and a singer that was the band. After that I formed a Van Halen tribute which… Fair of Freaks. We released one album 2012.

2015 I decided to do it on my own and released the mostly instrumental album Larser Than Life. After that I had a band again, my current band The 1712s and we have just released the album Water.

.

.

.

Tell us your genre and idea behind your music video or song and the song.

Melodic hard rock/metal. We always try to make song catchy with a good melody, a good groove but without losing the punch. Smaller instrumental parts in the song is never wrong as long as is it doesn’t bore the listener. We try to keep the songs pretty short, preferably less than five minutes.

.

.

.

Tell us how you are promoting your music.

So far we have been advertising on Facebook/Instagram, radio ads and magazines. We have also used Spotify Playlist pitchers to get our song into playlists.

Water is the second album with Lars Boquist since he went solo; this time with his band The1712s. While his first album was mostly instrumental this time the songs are with vocals (except for the song entitled ‘Child’s Anthem’. The style is more or less the same as his previous work with the bands Dizziness, Pole Position, Reptilian and Neondaze i.e. hard rock/metal with an 80s and 70s touch. It’s melodic, it’s hard, it’s heavy. It has melodies you just can’t escape, you’re hooked! Asking people what the band sounds like they kept mentioning Queensryche, Europe, Iron Maiden, Rush, Ozzy Osbourne, Metallica, Seventh Key…(the list goes on). Listen to the first single ‘Would’ and you hear what it’s all about…

.

.

Explain the story behind the song.

I wrote this sitting in my sofa and found the chorus riff. The verses and melodies for the song came pretty fast. I wanted to have a more high frequency song instead of pitched down guitars that most of the metal bands use today.

.

.

State the names of other members of your band, music producer, crew or music video director.

Rikki Force – Drums

Tell us how long you have been in the music business, your experience and your future goal.

I have been in the business since our first record was released in 1985. I will do this until I’m lying six feet under the ground.

.

.

.

Tell us what makes you unique from others.

We try to make the song arrangement un-standard. Maybe not use the most used chord progression. Maybe add an instrumental part in the song.

.

.

.

Tell us your weakness and strength pertaining music.

I think I can write catchy songs that do not sound like anyone else.

.

.

.

List your five favorite songs including the artists.

Opium trail – Thin Lizzy

Dance the night away- Van Halen

Deuce – Kiss

Rocket – Def Leppard

.

.

.

Tell us your position on “Do It Yourself” and signing to a major label.

I have been a DIY-artist since the first solo record. If we get a deal with a label we might take. Just to save us a lot of work.

.

.

.

Tell us other activities you are pursuing apart from music.

I play tennis, jogging and work out every week.

.

.

.

List your various works.

I work as a computer programmer during the day and do music in the evening.

.

.

.

State the official date of release.

November 3 2018.

.

.

.

State your artist’s name and elaborate on it.

Lars Boquist & The 1712s.

Our rehearsal time used to be 17.12 i.e. 5.12 pm.

.

.

.

State the title of the song and the meaning.

Would. I wanted something short and taken by other bands. So when people searched for the song Would (by e.g. Alice in Chains) they might see our song also.

.

.

.

State the title of the album and the reason for choosing the title.

The album is titled Water. We have a song called Water. It’s a good song so we let it be the title track. But not the first single though. Would is our first single.
