Gritty, fuzzy and groovy riffs marry up with huge pop hooks, distorted bass and dark lyrical themes to create a massive alt-rock sound. Featuring elements of new wave, pop and dirty rock, Salvation Jayne have created their own distinctive brand of rock n’ roll ear candy.

Now in 2019, Salvation Jayne have a rapidly growing fan base, a management contract under their belts and a brand new 6 track EP that perfectly captures the elements of the band that fans (including Planet Rock Radio, Metal Hammer and Totalrock) are so excited about.

This young, forward thinking alt-rock band are steadily making a name for themselves on the UK scene due to their charisma and energetic live performances.

Formed in 2013, the band have worked hard paying their dues and earning the respect of music fans across the UK, gaining a large supportive fan base after their many performances at several prestigious venues and festivals. At the end of 2018 Salvation Jayne released a 6-track EP, along with a music video for their single ‘Cortez.’ With a 10/10 half page feature in Powerplay Magazine and ‘Cortez’ being one of the featured tracks on the latest Metal Hammer covermount cd, this is going to be an exciting year for Salvation Jayne.

Tell us your history.
Dan, our bass player, and Holly, our guitarist, had been in a band together many years ago and they founded the first incarnation of Salvation Jayne. There were a few lineup changes until we found our drummer Tor, and then later (and lastly!) to complete the set our singer Chess joined around three years ago!

.

Tell us the genre of your music.
Alt rock.

.

.

.

Tell us the story behind your song.
It’s inspired by a documentary called ‘Every Fucking Day of My Life’ – about breaking free from an abusive relationship.

.

.

.

Tell us the problems you are facing as a musician.

The same as most others getting our music out there to as many people as possible.

.

.

.

Discuss the recording and production of the song.

Our bassist Dan is a producer, so we can really get creative when it comes to making a record. We used an old vintage Camco drum kit on this song and went pretty bold with fuzzy guitars. There are elements taken from Interpol (like the stabby reverb guitar sound at the start) and also The Cure (chorus pedals and synths in the middle section).

Elaborate on your music career, experience and future goals.

We’ve all taken different routes. Holly started off in the blues scene, Dan started in the hardcore scene, Tor and Chess have done varied scenes. Our goals are all the same now…. To push Salvation Jayne to the furthest it can go.

.

Brief us what inspires you to write, compose and sing.
It can be various stuffs really. Every day experiences, TV shows, documentaries. We try and always make it relatable even if the lyrics are quirky.
.

.

.

Brief us the top-secret behind making a hit song.
If we knew that, we’d have hundreds of them!

.

.

.

Tell the advice you will give to an upcoming artist.
Keep your heads down and focus on what’s important. Do something for your band every day. Network. Connect with people and make time for creativity.

.

.

Discuss at length your music careers, albums, songs, tours, recognition or awards you might have received
.
We’ve all been musicians for a long time, having toured a lot. Dan was in a hardcore band who toured about 25 countries, and he’s done a lot of touring with other bands. We have all played on numerous records.

.

.

.

Tell us how you write your lyrics, compose, sing and record in the studio.
It’s varied in SJ. All of us have lyrical ideas and it’s different from song to song. Sometimes the lyrics come first and the song is built around those, or sometimes they come last. Some songs are recorded by one person as a MIDI demo first, whereas others are developed in the studio at rehearsals.
.

.

.

Name your favourite artists for collaboration.
Chris Martin, Alanis Morrisette would be Chess’s. Dan said Mac Miller. Tor’s would be The 1975, producing a track with George would be cool, or with Jordan from Bring Me The Horizon. – Holly said.

Tell us how you will spend a million dollars.
Wisely!

.

.

.

Discuss music promotion and how you are boosting your fan base.
We work really hard like most bands. Connecting with people in all ways we can be on social media or gigs etc. We try to remain busy even at quiet times either writing or doing admin. Social media platforms play a huge part as you can reach out to so many people worldwide. We’ve had lots of American orders with our new EP! That’s connecting through social media. Also magazines, radio, blogs… these are all ways to make us visible to the public. Everything helps. Support from fans telling friends and family helps too.

State your artist’s name and elaborate on it.
Salvation Jayne. Nothing too amazing. There was a cafe called Salvation Jane. Sounded cool. Kept it and added the ‘y’ to Jane.
