Project Blackbird drops a striking song entitled ‘Same Heart’ from their latest album.

Listeners will enjoy the fascinating songs in the album.

Approach of Project Blackbird to music is extraordinary.

Latest album entitled ‘Endurance’ is a mix of pleasant sounds, spoken words and soulful vocals.

‘Endurance’ is a work to enjoy.

– Broadtube Music Channel

Project Blackbird is an international collective of four UK-based musicians: vocalist Ming Nagel (USA), guitarist Thure Gade Johansen (DK), drummer Styx, and multi-instrumentalist Jon Read, who is the former trumpet player for The Specials and has performed with many other ska and reggae legends.

Their debut album Endurance (released in autumn 2018) is a compelling sound scape that defies the constraints of genre or convention.

Instrumentals, spoken word, and lyrical eloquence conspire to create a cinematic listening experience.

As one fan suggests:

“Imagine a party at Ronnie Scott’s where Sade, Björk, Jeff Beck, and David Byrne meet Portishead and then go for a late night curry to exchange ideas… sublime”.

“Same Heart” is the first song the band wrote for Endurance, and they trialled it live when supporting The South at various UK theatre dates in 2017.

Since then, it has evolved into a sophisticated, hypnotic slice of chill-out pop whose seductive sound belies a narrative that cuts to the core of contemporary humanity and “connection”.

“Sometimes I come across an album that I can’t stop listening to. Endurance is one of those albums….Project Blackbird’s grafted masterpiece could equally be at home on a Pink Floyd collector’s turntable or found in the midst of a Miles Davis fan’s collection.

I’m not sure which tune is my favourite, because that changes from day to day.

I simply can’t get myself to click the shuffle button, because I want to hear Endurance from its emotionally charged head to head guitar/trumpet piece ‘Aurora Borealis’ beginning to the very last note of ‘Blackbird’ over and over again”

– The Starved Peasant

“An intelligent and enriching album”

– RnR Magazine

“A masterpiece of musical invention and cleverly crafted Pop of an intelligent, calm and yet emotionally affecting kind. Evidence beyond all reasonable doubt that Project Blackbird are a band the world needs to know about”

– Trust-the-Doc

He is an extraordinary vocalist that will entice the listeners with his compelling vocal.

His musical work is pure.

This gifted vocalist is an icon to check out.

– Broadtube Music Channel

Joe Ramsey is a singer/songwriter from the North East of England.

His alternative indie pop has a mellow acoustic vibe which propelled his debut single ‘Time’ onto BBC Introducing, – with numerous plays on BBC Tees, Spark FM in Sunderland and Reform Radio in Manchester, including a feature on the Unsigned Guide Spotlight.

The track landed in the Top 40 on the iTunes Singer/Songwriter chart.

Joe writes about everyday situations that people may find themselves in, with an honesty and directness.

That’s where he gets his main influences from when songwriting and tries to explore every avenue.

For example, with the new single ‘Shelter’, this song is about wanting to be the person who makes the man/woman they’re after happy.

To be their comfort, their ‘go to’.

He uses ‘Shelter’ in a manner to represent that happy, comforting place, and the difficulties one goes through to get there.

Taking his inspiration from John Mayer, who he considers to as his icon, Ben Howard and Ryan Adams, Joe would describe his sound as alternative indie pop with a mellow acoustic vibe, for fans of James Bay, Foy Vance and Liam Gallagher.

This young, forward thinking alt-rock band are steadily making a name for themselves on the UK scene due to their charisma and energetic live performances.

Formed in 2013, the band have worked hard paying their dues and earning the respect of music fans across the UK, gaining a large supportive fan base after their many performances at several prestigious venues and festivals. At the end of 2018 Salvation Jayne released a 6-track EP, along with a music video for their single ‘Cortez.’ With a 10/10 half page feature in Powerplay Magazine and ‘Cortez’ being one of the featured tracks on the latest Metal Hammer covermount cd, this is going to be an exciting year for Salvation Jayne.
.

.

.

Tell us your history.
Dan, our bass player, and Holly, our guitarist, had been in a band together many years ago and they founded the first incarnation of Salvation Jayne. There were a few lineup changes until we found our drummer Tor, and then later (and lastly!) to complete the set our singer Chess joined around three years ago!

Tell us the story behind your song.
It’s inspired by a documentary called ‘Every Fucking Day of My Life’ – about breaking free from an abusive relationship.

.

Tell us the problems you are facing as a musician.

The same as most others getting our music out there to as many people as possible.

.

.

.

Discuss the recording and production of the song.

Our bassist Dan is a producer, so we can really get creative when it comes to making a record. We used an old vintage Camco drum kit on this song and went pretty bold with fuzzy guitars. There are elements taken from Interpol (like the stabby reverb guitar sound at the start) and also The Cure (chorus pedals and synths in the middle section).

Elaborate on your music career, experience and future goals.

We’ve all taken different routes. Holly started off in the blues scene, Dan started in the hardcore scene, Tor and Chess have done varied scenes. Our goals are all the same now…. To push Salvation Jayne to the furthest it can go.

Brief us what inspires you to write, compose and sing.
It can be various stuffs really. Every day experiences, TV shows, documentaries. We try and always make it relatable even if the lyrics are quirky.

Brief us the top-secret behind making a hit song.
If we knew that, we’d have hundreds of them!

Tell the advice you will give to an upcoming artist.
Keep your heads down and focus on what’s important. Do something for your band every day. Network. Connect with people and make time for creativity.
.

.

Discuss at length your music careers, albums, songs, tours, recognition or awards you might have received
.
We’ve all been musicians for a long time, having toured a lot. Dan was in a hardcore band who toured about 25 countries, and he’s done a lot of touring with other bands. We have all played on numerous records.

.

.

.

Tell us how you write your lyrics, compose, sing and record in the studio.
It’s varied in SJ. All of us have lyrical ideas and it’s different from song to song. Sometimes the lyrics come first and the song is built around those, or sometimes they come last. Some songs are recorded by one person as a MIDI demo first, whereas others are developed in the studio at rehearsals.
.

.

.

Name your favourite artists for collaboration.
Chris Martin, Alanis Morrisette would be Chess’s. Dan said Mac Miller. Tor’s would be The 1975, producing a track with George would be cool, or with Jordan from Bring Me The Horizon. – Holly said.

Social media platforms play a huge part as you can reach out to so many people worldwide. We’ve had lots of American orders with our new EP! That’s connecting through social media. The album takes its name from the popular kids’ game he grew up playing as he moved house from hostel to hostel during a childhood …

Previously known as Zulu Moon, she has been regularly performing in venues and festivals all over Belgium since 2012, making radio appearances and scoring a national buzz in 2017 as one of the 7 finalists of De Nieuwe Lichting.

KAHLLA – Small

London based artist KAHLLA drops a striking song entitled ‘Small’.

KAHLLA impresses fans with an influential vocal that makes ‘Small’ pleasant.

Musical arrangement of the song seems simple but the power of her vocal enhances the song.

KAHLLA is no doubt a gifted artist that will keep dropping hits after hits.

The listeners will delight in listening to her songs.

KAHLA is a blameless vocalist.

Broadtube Music Channel

The German native’s second offering is a slice of personal indie pop, bringing a bare-all lyricism to a genre that’s still trying to play tough.

The multi-layered vocals and mellow piano take center stage on ‘Small’ – while the drum machine led groove and classically inspired sound scapes unite the incompatible on this atmosphere-laden track.

This contrast goes hand in hand with having the feeling of being torn – that Kahlla, known as Freya Volk, describes in ‘Small’.

“I wrote it about trying to be confident in your own judgements and abilities while someone you love is doubting you.

Sometimes the people around us, who are supposed to make us feel invincible, also have the power to do just the opposite: make us feel inadequate.”

A co-production between Kahlla and Paul Stanborough, ‘Small’ follows on from her debut ‘Come With Me’, which received previous support from Amazing Radio, BBC Introducing The South (Track of the Day) and various blogs.

The first of a series of three singles with accompanying visuals that would be released this year.

‘Small’ is a dreamy first listen at what 2019 has in store for Kahlla.

German artist and songwriter Kahlla, was born in Amsterdam and raised somewhere in the no-man’s-land of South West Germany as one of five sisters to a musical family.

Based in London now she merges her classical upbringing with dreamy sound scapes, electronic drum grooves and layered vocals to create intimate and vulnerable pop songs.

Inspired by years of writing poetry, Kahlla’s descriptive style and ‘bare-all’ lyricism will throw the listener’s head first into her world.

Every song is like a little photo book comprising memories passed.

Kahlla with a similar mindset arranges her experiences into musical collages that reflect on mental health, 21st century confusion and imperfect love…

Backdrop of these collages is built from the musical puzzle pieces of her life: after being classically trained from the age of five, she fronted a pop punk band during her teenage years and went to as many rock shows as possible.

Early ambiguous experiences resulted in an eclectic mix of influences contributing to her music today, reaching from Schumann to Jimmy Eat World to contemporary female trailblazers like Lapsley, Phoebe Bridgers and IDER.

Kahlla’s interest in fashion, tattoo culture and art grew – which means every aspect of her song’s visual journey involved her:

‘I often find myself planning concepts, artwork and videos before I’ve even finished writing the songs’.

Either way – at the end of these musical journeys, inspired piano, electronic synth and guitars harmonized with a crystal clear voice to craft Kahlla’s own version of indie pop.

Her vulnerable lyricism that sets her apart from her contemporaries: the voice describing the pictures in her photo book is clear, full of vivid imagery, yet blunt and distinctly her own.

‘Come With Me’ already received support from Amazing Radio, BBC Introducing The South (Track of the Day) and various blogs, earning her comparisons to the likes of Meadowlark and The Japanese House, Kahlla releases her new single ‘Small’.

More!

BEX drops debut album, blending alt-pop, rock and blues.

Sink Or Swim is the first album by Boston-based singer-songwriter BEX.

She recorded the EP at Plaid Dog Studio in Allston, and local radio stations are already playing the songs.

With a moody, soulful sound and brazen lyrics dripping with a jaded brand of wisdom, Sink Or Swim blends alternative pop/rock with a heavy dose of blues.

While the songs vary in tone, they explore the concept of survival — digging into such challenges as toxic love, a crippling fixation on the past, and resistance to change.

The overall vibe is dark — with a light at the end of the tunnel.

“At its core, this album is about our internal struggle to break the destructive habits and unhealthy patterns we find ourselves trapped in,” says BEX.

“It’s about that critical moment at which we must decide to sink or swim.”

BEX is a 2017 M.F.A. graduate of The Boston Conservatory at Berklee, and a former journalist.

Her influences include Lissie, Banks, Hozier, Bishop Briggs, and Stevie Nicks.

Besides writing the songs on Sink Or Swim, BEX performed both piano and vocals.

BEX is a Boston-based singer-songwriter, whose music spans multiple genres, including alternative pop-rock and R&B with a heavy dose of blues.

Her debut album, Sink or Swim, is releasing January 25, 2019.

Before recording her EP, she attended The Boston Conservatory at Berklee, where she received her M.F.A.

Beyond singing and songwriting, BEX is a full-time freelance journalist who has contributed to HuffPost, Elite Daily, and U.S. News.

She is a UFC-trained kickboxer.
