Spencer Joyce defies the ‘singer/songwriter’ stereotype with a sound composed of Ed Sheeran acoustic pop with Mumford & Sons folk, Sublime punk reggae, John Mayer blues, and the jam band sensibility of Dave Matthews Band.
His lyrics speak of hardships and encourage the listeners to keep their heads up in tough times… influenced by Spencer’s upbringing from being born in a small town North Carolina, raised in suburban Northern Virginia, and living in Bayside Maryland.
He dropped his debut single, Elephant In A Jar, in February 2015.
In the following 2.5 years, Spencer became a regular in bars and clubs all across DC, Baltimore, Richmond, and Northern VA. Spencer released his debut EP, Bad Poker Face, in July 2017.
As a result, Spencer got booked to play festivals such as The Nextival in Annapolis and Artscape in Baltimore, and an opening spot for Higher Education at Rams Head Live in Baltimore.
Tracks from the EP scored licensing deals for TV, film and retail stores handled by Songtradr.
In 2018 Spencer made his debut at Frozen Harbor Music Festival and the Annapolis First Sunday Arts Festival and an opening slot for THE UNLIKELY CANDIDATES and Brick + Mortar at Metro Gallery in Baltimore.
2019 will see new music from Spencer Joyce starting with the single “Bonds Like These” in February followed by a new album and tour backed by Spencer Joyce’s Open Bar Band.
