Elaborate on the song.

The song is called Say It Again, and it’s really about a relationship where both people involved know things are falling apart, but they’re still clinging to what’s left.

.

.

.

State the name of your producer and elaborate on the recording.

The song was produced by Hugh Mackie in Victoria, BC. We made it inside of a box truck that was converted into a little studio, so the recording experience was very fun.

It took a lot of effort and lots of different versions of this song to land on what we felt was the right one.

.

.

Discuss the lyrics of the song.

The lyrics to me are really sad because I can relate so much to the feeling of a failing relationship that you can’t come to terms with.

.

.

.

Elaborate on your music career.

Well, it seems like it’s just getting started but at the same time I’ve played at least over a thousand shows.

I started performing from a really young age but I’m only now really starting to release music.

.

.

.

Brief us on how you are reaching fans with your music.

Playing live is always the greatest way to connect to people.

And of course I love talking with everyone online and making friends.

.

.

.

Discuss your motive behind making music.

There are a couple of huge payoffs for me. The first is selfish. When I’m writing and recording songs, it’s a euphoric feeling of self-expression. I don’t know that I could survive without it.

And then the biggest motive is to perform for people and feeling a whole room connect to each other because we’re all there for the same purpose.

.

.

.

Discuss your lyrics and songwriting.

Lyrics are the most important thing to me when I’m writing a song and I really take my time.

This entire project is written by myself and although I would love to get into co-writing more, I don’t know if I could be as honest that way.

The way I currently write is extremely personal and happens when nobody else is around. It’s almost like writing a diary.

.

.

.

Elaborate on your work and achievement so far in your music career.

Well I can’t toot my own horn or anything but I’ve definitely had some great experiences and achievements, but my mind is definitely set on reaching much more.

.

.

.

Tell us your opinion on using rhymes dictionary or writing software to develop lyrics.

It’s not something I’ve ever done but I could see why it would be helpful. I personally always think before I write a line, “what am I trying to say?”. Then I think of what works in the song structure that tells that story.

Rather than see what rhymes and try to work from there. But I definitely have nothing against it; I bet you could go to some really interesting and unique places by doing that.

.

.

.

Discuss the music industry.

I think you’ve just gotta love music so much that you can put up with the challenges of the industry.

I don’t have lots of experience to talk about that people don’t already know, but I think you’ve gotta just be careful that you have ownership of what you create, and that you work with people who have your best interest at heart.

.

.

.

Elaborate on how you prepare yourself for a recording session.

I don’t have a specific regime but I do try to come in with lots of ideas and direction.

Sometimes it’s best to be totally relaxed and not overthink it.

Other times I love to be nervous and out of my element so that I can rise to the occasion.

.

.

.

Brief us on your preference in terms of tempo as in up-tempo, mid-tempo or slow tempo.

I really think you gotta have a mix. I’m probably more of a mid to slow tempo kinda guy though. I come at it from a set-list point of view.

I’m writing songs that I want to play live, and a good live show has a variety of textures.

.

.

.

Discuss your shows or live performance.

I love being real with an audience and being in the moment.

I love trying to make people forget it’s even a show at all and we’re just singing together.

Thank you so much, and I can’t wait to meet more of you.

.

.

Discuss the story line of the song.

It’s told from the perspective of somebody who is talking to their partner and discussing the mess they’re in.

But the chorus is almost a plea with them to say they love them like they mean it. Clinging to the love they know is failing.

.

.

.

Tell us what makes this song unique from others.

I really like how it’s lyrically very much a singer songwriter’s song, but with very modern pop production.

.

.

.

Tell us the theme of most of your compositions.

Love!
