Swedish born singer songwriter ‘Janos’ spends his time between the streets and pubs of Oslo and London.

Fusing beautiful pop melodies, soulful vocals and explosive energy, the pop-punk soul artist delivers listeners with a fresh, contemporary sound.

From fragile, heartfelt ballads to funky upbeat anthems, Janos tells a story relating to the highs and lows of our generation.

Janos’s message is one of strength and self-empowerment.

After years of performing with other bands, the Swedish artist finally took the leap to go it alone, setting him free to create the music that is true to who he is.

With the desire to mix organic sounds with elements of R&B, pop and rock, Janos was able to create an entirely unique sound.

Inspired by the likes of Bruno Mars, Janos’s new work is a combination of Anderson Paak meets Daft Punk.

Thematically and sonically the music narrates the feeling of dancing with your heart on your sleeve, rich with colour and oozing euphoric surges, Janos has crafted an infectious and dance-worthy sound.

Leading single ‘Zero’ is a positive anthem about not letting negative people bring you down.

“It’s not a vindictive song, it’s more like a ‘I do me and you do you’ type of thing”, reveals Janos.

“It’s about maximizing who you are and not listening to haters, fake friends and what society tells you to do.”

Recorded on a small island outside of Oslo, the single exudes dreamy and hazy vibes, featuring jangly guitars and glistening electronic synths ‘Zero’ bursts with energy through its mix of sonic soundscapes.

Janos has found acclaim with numerous notable radio plays, including the BBC, as well as working with famed industry professionals, Jonas Kroon (Cezinando, Anna of the North, Billie Van) and Soulbase ( Admiral P, Fela) on his upcoming releases.

With an exciting year ahead, Janos is an artist to be reckoned with.

‘Zero’ is currently available worldwide.

Discuss your recording experience with your producer.

It was the first time working with Soulbase and we immediately hit it off.

We come from similar backgrounds regarding hip-hop references and I guess we like to explore new venues for both production and songwriting, and he really caught my drift and understood where I wanted to push myself musically.

The recording process was really relaxed and vibey, loads of time spent freestyling stuff and building on the soundscapes.

I would recommend him to anyone wanting to try something new and cool!

Discuss what comes first and last while creating a song.

First is the melody and some bullshit lyrics (might turn out to be really cool ones) and also the beat and vibe of the song. That might change a lot during recording, as you get new inputs and ideas as you go along.

.

.

.

Tell us the piece of advice would you will give to a new artist.

Play shitloads of gigs and record as much as possible, write as much as you can. Basically just do it!

.

.

.

Discuss your worse experience in the music business.

Can’t really say much about the business but I guess I don’t like the fact there are a lot of gatekeepers for unsigned artists to try and get past in order to gain exposure and listeners. On my way working through them!

.

.

.

Discuss your approach to songwriting.

My approach is to always try to stay relevant with myself and my catalogue, so I always try to write something new, better and brighter than before.

I don’t really go back too much to older stuff, I leave it and do something new, maybe influenced by something I haven’t finished yet but I try not to write similar songs.

I guess it’s kind of like a playlist; you don’t want it to be 100 songs that all sound the same and have the same vibe.

.

.

.

Tell us what you are doing to impact the people around you.

I always try to use my energy to big up people and share the vibes as it’s super important to be on the same wave.

I also try to listen to people’s opinions and inputs when it’s people I work with; it makes a better final product I think!

.

.

.

Tell us what music that makes you happy.

It’s kind of working different emotions and vibes, so it’s hard to say what actually makes me happy but I think music that’s upbeat can sometimes be sad as well as downbeat music can be happy, all depends on which mood I’m in.

I think the main thing is cool melodies and good lyrics and kickass production makes me happy.

.

.

.

Tell us how you feel when you sing and your fans sing along to your song.

Like I’m floating on clouds!

.

.

.

Tell us the goals you aim to achieve when creating a song.

I want to get a certain vibe through. It’s all down to inspiration, what song I’m building on for inspiration and what I want to say with my lyrics.

Sometimes it’s really nothing but the moods I want to build come through in the melodies and production. So the goal is to get a vibe across!

.

.

.

Tell us if you are collaborating with other songwriters or you write alone.

I’ve been writing with others for a while actually, loads of cool artists like Eddie Fahrenheit, Valerio Lysander, Anna Rest Easy to name a few.

It’s all about getting different perspectives and learning different styles so I would say I love to write with others because it also gives my songwriting a new vibe.

Kind of like learning new skills – But the songs I play as Janos are all written by me, but I am always open to new inputs!

.

.

.

Elaborate on the song.

Zero came across as a kind of, “I’m done with this shit” song. It’s about realizing you got to change your environment to waste less time on negative vibes and negative people.

You got to be true to yourself and go after what you want in life. I do not hate and I am just tired of haters.

Musically I tried to go for something mashing up my influences in Rock, RnB and Pop, and create something people can move to!
