Banshee Child was founded in 2016 when Joshua Catlett, Vince Heller, and Colin Yopp came together with one purpose: To create Rock N Roll that paid tribute to the old school while pushing the envelope of the modern day Rebel Yell.

Matt Meredith was added shortly thereafter, and that my friend was when the magic took place.

Banshee Child takes no prisoners and provides males with music to unleash their wildest ambitions, and women to shake their groove things.

Discuss your music career.

We all have day jobs but we love to play. We practice together once a week and play shows once or twice a month.

We’ll be opening for Nita Strauss on May 31st at Zanzabar here in our hometown of Louisville KY! Exciting times…

.

.

.

Brief us on how to impress fans during a live performance.

I’d say energy and passion are the two most important things. People will feel you if the music is genuine and real and you put on a show.

.

.

List the names of your biggest supporters.

Our friends and family have been amazing. They’ve been behind us from the beginning and we’re very fortunate!

Also, shout out to David Payne at Louisville Music Studio for all that he does and giving us a 24/7 rehearsal studio.

.

.

.

Explain what has motivated you so far in your music career.

Having people tell you how much they enjoy your music is pretty awesome. I’d like to think and hope that we can inspire people and that’s what we try to do……and rock out of course!

.

.

.

Discuss your experience as an artist.

There are lots of ups and downs in this business. You just have to stay with it and never give up. For every “yes” you’ll hear “no” 100 times.

We’ve been very fortunate in recording two albums so far, a bunch of music videos, and opening for some very cool bands. Life is good.

.

.

.

Tell us the biggest mistake you have ever made in your music career.

There have been times we have listened to other people instead of following our hearts or doing what we wanted. You live and you learn!

.

.

.

Discuss the story behind the song.

It’s about a guy that’s just had enough of life. He’s on edge and just about to lose it all.

.

.

.

Tell us how to fund a music project.

Save! It takes a lot to properly fund any project. My advice is to not rush it and save enough money that you can do it right. Don’t cheap out just to get it done.

.

.

.

Discuss your opinion on the safety of fans during shows and live performances.

Safety is important. I think in this day and age it’s even more important than it ever was before. You never know what’s going to happen when you go out these days. Be careful and look out for one another….and have a good time!

.

.

.

Tell us the greatest piece of advice someone has given you as an artist.

Be yourself. Don’t spend so much time trying to emulate your idols. Only you can truly be you. That is your greatest power as a musician. Embrace it.

.

.

.

Tell us what you will improve or change in your music.

We’re just working on new material and just pushing the Banshee Child sound. How hard can we go? How soft can we go? Dynamics and trying different things and throwing it all into a blender and seeing what happens!

.

.

.

Discuss vocal training and how you protect your vocal.

The biggest thing is just taking care of yourself and your body.

.

Discuss your best mood during a performance.

Everyone is usually always amped up on stage. Playing live is one of the best adrenaline rushes in the world.

.

.

.

List your best artists with reasons.

Our influences range anywhere from AC/DC, Nirvana, Stevie Ray Vaughan, Alice in Chains, The Beatles, and Black Sabbath.

 .

.

.

Discuss your existence as an artist.

When you write a song it’s like sharing a piece of your soul with the world. Leaving a legacy and sharing it with the generations to come is pretty awesome sounding.

.

.

.

Tell us the greatest problem you think is facing the society and the solution.

As a whole, I think people are pretty self-centered and selfish. I think if we took the time to love one another; the world would be a lot better.

.

.

.

Discuss your songwriting and recording.

We usually have ideas and we bring them into our rehearsal studio and just jam them out. I’d say 95% of the magic happens during rehearsal. We have recorded two albums so far. One was done in Nashville, and one here in our hometown of Louisville KY. The one we did here is almost a live album. Everything was done in one or two takes and we were all playing together in the same room. You could really feel the mojo.

.

.

.

State your artist’s name and elaborate on it.

Our name is Banshee Child. We took forever to come up with a name and we had a bunch we were kicking around.

Our drummer Colin came up with Banshee Child and we all dug it.

I think the name represents reckless abandon and being loud. Wailing like a Banshee ya know?

.

.

.

State the title of the song and the meaning.

The title of the song is “Nothing Left” and it’s a pretty straight forward song about a dude who is down and out and feels as if there’s nothing left for him in life.

I think we all get a little bummed sometimes and that’s okay as long as it doesn’t consume you.

.

.

.

State the title of the album and the reason for choosing the title.

It’s Banshee Child (self-titled) EP. We couldn’t think of anything clever for our first release so we decided to just do the classic thing and make it self-titled!
