Genre – Dance

Video Producer – Jeff Harper

Marvelous British DJ and record maker Jonas Blue teams up with Danish singer Theresa Rex to drop a tuneful song entitled “What I Like About You.”

Jonas made the song. He penned the song with Lene Dissing and Bjørnskov.

The song portrays infatuation. It’s a turbulent relationship between a lady that wants to be in a relationship with her new boyfriend but her family members and friends are against her wish to date the guy. But she turns rebellious to pursue the guy because she loves him.

The audience will relate to the video because practically everyone has been in the plight of loving someone and your parents are intimidating you from seeing that person but you keep insisting because of the influence of love.

The lyrics of the song reveal it all, obvious to figure out and know what the song is all about.

The dramatic video follows the footsteps of the lyrics by setting forth the story behind the song from the start.

Jonas is not a newcomer in making a hit song with an accomplished vocalist.

He has just added another hit song to his credits.

Sara Kendall – Daydream

ARTIST NAME: Sara Kendall

SONG TITLE: Daydream

RELEASE DATE: April 26, 2019

GENRE:  Soul Pop

Apple Music

Sara Kendall is a Massachusetts born, Brooklyn based dark-pop songwriter whose haunting and introspective lyrics explore themes of empowerment and self-preservation.

Taking inspiration from both female artists and novels, Kendall’s lyrics are reflective of her life experience and delivered with a powerful voice that Vanyaland described as a “portal to her soul.”

Following her debut EP “Delicate”, her forthcoming EP “Comply” tackles the concept of taking ownership of one’s own perception in an emboldened tone backed by sparse but often heavy and cinematic production.

Beyond her own music, Kendall’s artistry and aesthetic can be seen in Vogue and other collaborations in the fashion world, as well as a featured vocalist on Mom + Pop artist CRNKN’s single “The Grip”.

On the road, Kendall has opened for national touring acts Bayonne, Zealyn, and Eliot Sumner.

Tell us your names, country of birth and childhood experience.

My name is Sara Kendall. I was born in New Jersey and grew up in Southborough MA, a very small suburban New England town. It was very green there and I miss that aspect a lot whilst living in NYC.

State your academic qualification.

I graduated from Berklee College of Music with a Bachelor of Arts in Professional Music.

Elaborate on your music career, band name, experience, and skills.

I’m just going by my own name for now. I’ve tried to think of a stage name or alter ego for years and years but nothing has felt right for me.

I’ve decided to dissolve that wall between me and my fans because a stage name wouldn’t feel genuine.

I am a songwriter, singer, pianist, and performer that has been pursuing music for a few years now.

Tell us your genre and idea behind your music video or song.

Overall I would say my music is a sort of dark pop or alternative pop.

My last EP Comply was less poppy than my earlier releases however and had a much more severe and cinematic sound.

“Daydream” definitely goes into a whole different direction being much more lighthearted and chill.

Tell us how to run a record label based on your experience as an artist.

I would know what I would NOT do. I would not give out false hope and promises and be disrespectful.

Tell us how you are promoting your music.

I just self-released. I’m always on my computer reaching out to people. I get a lot of rejections and no replies. It gets tiring but I’ve started to care less about the industry side of things and just be proud that I’m putting some art out in this silly existence.

I’m in the process of reducing the amount of information I take in and rewriting my mind on what it means to be successful.

Share your press release and reviews with us.

Explain the story behind the song.

‘Daydream’ is about trying to get someone to realize you should be together!

List the radio stations, television stations, and blogs that have aired or featured your new song.

Chillfilter, Casablanca Sunset.

State the names of other members of your band, music producer, crew or music video director.

Alex Coco does synths and produced this track.

Pepe Ramos did drum for me for a while but he moved so I am looking for a drummer!

Tell us how long you have been in the music business, your experience, and your future goal.

I’ve been doing this all for a few years now. I’ve had a lot of ups and downs but I think ultimately what keeps me going is the storytelling aspect and connecting with people in a way I can’t achieve in day to day life.

Tell us what makes you unique from others.

My vulnerability, honesty, and the direction of the music.

Tell us your weakness and strength pertaining to music.

I think I’m tenacious and willing to fight through to finish something. However, I’m terrible at promoting myself.

Tell us other activities you are pursuing apart from music.

I’m really into fitness, food and traveling. It’s so important to get out of New York.

RORRE - You Never Say Goodbye

RORRE – You Never Say

RORRE - You Never Say Goodbye

RORRE – You Never Say Goodbye

Artist Name: RORRE

Song Title: You Never Say Goodbye

Release Date: 4/26/19

Genre: Alternative

Apple Music

Rorre is a nostalgic rock band born in San Diego and raised by the city’s very own legends of the music industry.

The members have been dreaming up their passions together since before they could play music, and their history as mates-before-music is what makes Rorre so electric.

Impressed with their potential, local legendary San Diego rock band Switchfoot offered them their private studio to record their inaugural E.P. “Songs in Transit.”

The mates were then able to call upon the talented Jesse Dorman of the band Hawai to produce their record.

Dorman, who has worked with Tyson Motsenbocker, Almost Monday, Scott Ruth, J. Thoven and many more helped bring out exactly what Rorre needed to say to the world.

And with the finishing touches of Tanner Sparks, whose impressive engineering resume includes Switchfoot, Jon Foreman, and Weezer, Rorre’s music was only ever going to be a sound that demanded to be heard.

Listen to Rorre and you will hear a powerful and familiar sound that takes you on a journey throughout musical history.

If Songs in Transit were a dish, its recipe would call for music from all genres and its flavour would remind you of bands like Oasis, Radiohead, Tom Petty, and many others.

Their newest single, “You Never Say Goodbye,” is a perfect example of a song that reminds of us the great era of 90’s rock and roll (release date for the single is April 2019).

Tell us what your fans are saying about your music.

Fans are saying we are capturing great classic sounds and modernizing them for 2019. It’s been wild seeing the response from the music we wrote in our bedrooms.

Tell us the factors you consider in choosing a song as your favourite.

When it comes to choosing favourites, we have strayed away from doing that sort of thing.

In the past, we would write a song and it would be our new favourite and we would forget about the four others that were still great songs.

They just weren’t new to us. I guess you could say that everything we write is our favourite because we are passionate about what we create!

Tell us the names of producers you will collaborate with if you have the chance.

Adam Granduciel of the War on Drugs. The way he goes about writing songs with such precise intentions. He’s got a song that’s over 10 minutes and you finish it thinking it just started. It’s wild. Would love to work with him in the future!

Tell us the names of the songwriters you will collaborate with if you have the chance.

Mathew Logan Vasquez of Delta Spirit is a pretty amazing songwriter. Would love to collaborate with him on a song or two!

Tell us your favourite TV show and state your reason.

New Girl – Pretty and funny show.

Tell us your best mood to create a song.

We find that in the worst of circumstances, something beautiful can be created out of that.

Our single YNSG was brought to life after our singer Erick got a flat tire on the freeway on the way to practice. We were all so bummed on how late it was but could feel the electricity after we played the first few notes of that song.

Tell us your interpretation of fame or success.

It’s funny because many of us work in and around the music industry every day and see so-called “fame” on a daily basis.

No matter how many records you sell, or how many sold out shows you play, it all comes down to contentment.

Are you passionate about the art you are making? Do you need others to tell you that you’ve made it?

When you reach the realization point of how lucky you are to do music as a living. That is when we believe you are the most successful band around.

Tell us about your experience performing on stage for the first time or recording in the studio for the first time.

Our first show was in high school for our friends at a church. We probably sucked really badly but everyone was jumping around and having a great time. Since then we have been trying to top that feeling of excitement.

Shows are about sharing a connection with people and being in the most vulnerable place ever. Nothing can beat that feeling.

Tell us how you approach songwriting.

Usually our singer Erick will throw an idea on the table and we will come together and vibe it out.

We believe in collaboration and never throwing an idea away before trying it.

Some of our best moments have come from really weird ideas that didn’t make sense.

There’s no limitation in what you can do, after all, it’s your art.

Tell us your opinion on blending genres or experimenting with sound.

Thinking about it, blending genres is how new genres are made. So that is a really rad concept that we are always trying to accomplish.

Tell us how you deal with rejection.

Some of the best advice we’ve ever been given was don’t believe the hype, whether it’s good hype or bad hype. Just believe in what you are doing.

Elaborate on what compels you to sing.

To be honest with each other – We love each other as brothers and we sing together because we have an unbreakable bond. Believe me; we have tried to break it.

Tell us the comparison between digital recording and analog recording.

Oh, if we had the opportunity to record analog for everything we would. The sound is so much warmer and real. A lot of the big name artists are starting to only record to tape, and that is awesome.

Tell us the software you used mostly for recording.

We use pro tools mainly. Occasionally we use Ableton for demo stuff.

Elaborate on the song.

‘You Never Say Goodbye’ takes you on a ride through influences of the 80’s/90’s rock’n’ roll era with a modern original sound. After being stranded on a freeway with a flat tire, YNSG was brought to life. The song stems from the frustration and anxiety about taking care of life’s issues while being in love, young and afraid.

Elaborate on your artist name and the title of the album.

We came up with the name on a whim. We just started spelling things backward and finally realized that ‘error’ backward was Rorre. And that was it we all had the look of “thank god we found a name”.

Megan Black – Fur Coat Queen

Megan Black – Fur Coat Queen

Megan Black – Fur Coat Queen

Artist Name – Megan Black

Song Title – Fur Coat Queen

Apple Music

After receiving singing lessons as a gift from one of her family members who overheard her singing at age fourteen, Megan has been composing her own music and performing it ever since.

She received her first ever paid gig when she was merely fifteen and since then has played in venues across Scotland including King Tuts Wah Wah Hut, La Belle Angele and The Hug and Pint.

She has taken inspiration from artists from many genres (jazz, rock, blues, pop) which helped to establish her unique sound of a new take on old styles.

As she grew as a songwriter, her interests in spirituality, philosophy, and literature seeped into her work.

Her ‘hippy’ stage persona developed from influences such as Stevie Nicks and Florence Welch.

Throughout her teenage years, she discovered more about her sexuality and sexual orientation and felt it was important that she included it in her music.

She has played at LGBT events and incorporated a drag aesthetic into her stage presence through her fashion.

Intertwining feminine and masculine identities, much like Lady Gaga and David Bowie, has allowed Megan to challenge stereotypes…

Her new single ‘Fur Coat Queen’ is a way of her understanding her sexuality and being able to love herself.

Megan also explained:

“It represents the empowerment I received from other people and, in particular, other women… Women battle against one another these days… on the likes of social media and even within the music industry. My experience has taught me that when women support one another…”

The aim of this song is to motivate other women to love themselves and work together to gain the recognition they deserve.

Simone – Game Boy

RELEASE DATE: April 26th, 2019

Tell us what your fans are saying about your music.

Most of the feedback I get from fans is that my music helps them feel good and brightens their day.

Tell us the factors you consider in choosing a song as your favourite.

Choosing a favourite song often times depends on the genre and the song, but usually, when a song has the right balance of space between the vocals and the production and the two are playing off of each other in an original way, I dig it!

Tell us the names of producers you will collaborate with if you have the chance.

If I had the chance, my dream would be to collaborate with Diplo. The way his music highlights the vocals while also being intricate and different in the production is exactly what I love.

Tell us the names of the songwriters you will collaborate with if you have the chance.

Too many to count! I think in general I really love female writers. If I could go back in time, I would have loved to work with Carole King or Stevie Nicks.

Tell us your favourite TV show and state your reason.

The Office – It’s hilarious and never gets old!

Tell us your best mood to create a song.

It depends on the song. Usually, if I’m in a good mood, I want to write something fun and pop-driven. On days when I feel particularly moody, I write at the piano and try to channel my feelings into a ballad.

Tell us your interpretation of fame or success.

I think fame in the entertainment industry is the by-product of successfully finding your core audience and connecting with people through your art.

Tell us the names of artists you will collaborate with if you have the chance.

If I had the opportunity to work with Cautious Clay, I would love that. I’m obsessed with his music at the moment. I also really like Tove Lo, Billie Eilish, and Kim Petras.

Tell us about your experience performing on stage for the first time or recording in the studio for the first time.

The first time I recorded in a professional studio, I was 15 years old and traveled to Chicago from Virginia to finally record some of the songs I had been writing with a producer my dad knew of.  I remember feeling so excited and loved every second of it.

Tell us how you approach songwriting.

I usually start on the piano with Logic, recording software, open on the computer.

I’ll write out some ideas, melody, and lyrics, over the chords I’m working with and create a beat around that.

I don’t force things; I let it flow and would rather see what happens than going for a specific idea when first starting.

Sometimes I’ll have melodies that I’ll start with. It depends on the song and each song comes together differently!

Tell us your opinion on blending genres or experimenting with sound.

I think the more freedom you allow yourself as a writer or producer, the more original your music will sound. When smartly blended in, anything can work!

Tell us how you deal with rejection.

I used to get down about it, as most beginning artists do, but over a few years I’ve developed a thicker skin and I know that for every “no” there’s a “yes” on the way and it will be the right thing for me!

Elaborate on what compels you to sing.

I think it is so natural to sing like a human, we want to create music within ourselves, even on a micro level.

Singing has a similar effect on the body as exercise and meditation.

It opens up our lungs, increases blood flow, and creates endorphins naturally. It’s no wonder so many people love to sing.

For me, I’ve always had the impulse to sing for as long as I’ve been alive. It’s a part of who I am and keeps me happy.

Tell us the comparison between digital recording and analog recording.

While digital recordings are a copy of analog in the form of samples, analog can also give a more authentic sound as it’s coming straight from the source.

It all depends on your sound preference and what you are going for on the particular track you are producing.

Tell us how you record your vocals.

I set up a vocal booth in my home or rent a studio nearby, depending on the song. My favourite microphone is the Telefunken, however, I recently got a Manley for home recordings and really like it.

I edit vocals afterward on Pro Tools, and my husband engineers when I am recording vocals, as well as mixes the final product.

Tell us the software you used mostly for recording.

I use Logic and Ableton while mixing and editing vocals is mostly on Pro Tools.

Discuss the selling of CDs and selling of digital files through digital stores.

While I plan to sell merchandise at shows for the EP release, I feel that the industry has moved away from CD sales and is more streaming based, giving room for new originality when it comes to merchandise and products that we create outside of music.

The music will always come first and finding a great online distributor and using streaming platforms is the best way to reach a wide audience.

Elaborate on the song.

I wrote this song as a means of pushing back against the sometimes boxed in perspective on female artists in the music industry.

We write, produce, run companies, it’s not just about being a singer or a face.

It’s important to showcase a stronger narrative, as much as possible, as the industry moves forward.

Elaborate on your artist name and the title of the album.

My artist name is my first name. The EP title is ‘Monarch’, named after monarch butterflies and the transformation they symbolize, this collection of songs is about becoming who you are meant to be and going for the things you want out of life.

Pop Newcomer Simone Returns with ‘Game Boy’

Breaking the Stereotypes of Female Musicians.

Pushing back against the stereotypes of female artists in the music industry, a pop star in the making Simone returns with ‘Game Boy’ April 26th, discussing how women in music work the behind the scenes jobs and are not just a pretty face.

Los Angeles based singer, songwriter, and producer Simone has gained a solid fan base and heightened monthly listeners since her debut with self-written and self-produced singles.

After winning multiple songwriting competitions, Simone hosted her own remix competition through Indaba/Splice, garnering hundreds of submissions and boasting high streaming numbers with her remix EP release.

Her latest singles, ‘Little Bit’ and ‘Clouds’ have also secured over half a million streams.

When discussing the track, Simone stated: “I wrote this song as a means of pushing back against the sometimes boxed in perspective on female artists in the music industry. We write, produce, run companies, it’s not just about being a singer or a face. It’s important to showcase a stronger narrative, as much as possible, as the industry moves forward.”

For lovers of bright and shimmery pop, Simone takes influence from the likes of Kim Petras, Tove Styrke and Ashe.

With a strong theme of female empowerment, ‘Game Boy’ will be distributed through AWAL April 26th.
