Delacey – My Man
Artist Name – Delacey
Song Title – My Man
Los Angeles based artist Delacey dropped her debut single entitled ‘My Man’ via HITCO.
‘My Man’ is a slow-burning track that exemplifies Delacey’s lyrical rawness as her ethereal, yet soulful vocals express both toughness and vulnerability.
“I really like the balance in this song, how I’m being my feisty Italian self but also building up this other woman by talking about how dope she is,” Delacey says, “I’m really just an endless bank of crazy things I’ve gone through, and I feel like I’ve worked so many emotional rollercoasters into my music. I hope that helps people to connect in a really honest way—and I hope that it makes them a little uncomfortable sometimes too.”
Written by Delacey and produced by Ido Zmishlany, ‘My Man’ is the first single from Delacey’s forthcoming debut EP expected later this spring.
From Orange County, Delacey wrote songs and played piano at age seven while idolizing the likes of Stevie Nicks and Billie Holiday.
Over the months, Delacey has built up her own narrative voice that is both self-aware and poetic, instilling each track with the melodic ingenuity she’s shown in co-writing songs like Halsey’s ‘Without Me’, which topped the Billboard Hot 100 chart, and songs for Demi Lovato, Zara Larsson, The Chainsmokers, and more.
Jessie Hill (Halsey, Dean Lewis, Broods) directed the video of ‘My Man.’
Delacey has also announced her first set of live shows to take place next month in Los Angeles and New York City.
On May 16th, she will play LA’s The Peppermint Club in West Hollywood and then on May 22nd, she will play NYC’s Mercury Lounge in the Lower East Side.
These two shows are the first of many more live performances to come from her.
This summer, she will also take the stage at several major festivals like Bonnaroo, Outside Lands, and Austin City Limits.
The single’s reception has made her an artist to watch after the release in March.
Following the release, Idolator declared, “My Man stands out thanks to Delacey’s velvety vocals, lyrical prowess and less-is-more approach to production,” and Billboard stated, “Her poise amid the conflict exhibits a maturity and self-awareness beyond her 26 years as she deftly captures the competing vigilance and insecurities of a shaky relationship.”
Buzz Feed featured Delacey and My Man, in their roundup of “19 Songs From Up-And-Coming Artists Released In March [They] Refuse To Let You Sleep On,” proclaiming, “this bluesy single is just the start from her.”
Featured as Annie Mac’s “Hottest Record in the World” on BBC Radio 1, “My Man” has already racked up over 1.7million streams, with 1 million streams on Spotify.
16 New Music Friday playlists worldwide, and Indie Pop and All-New Indie playlists featured “My Man.”
Apple Music’s Best of the Week and Breaking Pop playlists also featured “My Man.”
The single is receiving early airplay from an eclectic mix of leading stations like KCRW (LA), Sirius XM’s Alt Nation and KIISFM (LA).
