Tell us your opinion on creativity and originality.

Creativity and originality are both very broad terms.

To me, being creative really means searching for inspiration. Therefore, I strongly believe that we all have huge creative potential and expand it in many different ways whether this may be by creating music, painting, speaking, writing…

In regards to originality, I feel the will to take risks and ignore doubts, as well as self-discovery, are extremely important.

Tell us the beginning of your passion for music.

I started taking piano lessons at the age of 7. However, it was not until I was 12 years old when I picked up the first guitar that I truly fell in love with music.

Guitar and listening to music, in general, were both huge parts of my teenage years and upbringing. I remember going to my room each day after school and listening to some of the classic records my father had given me at the time. Even though singing and the idea of writing songs had always been in the back of my mind, I only started taking vocal lessons at the age of 15 and wrote my first song two years after that.

Elaborate on how you make sure the quality of your sound is high.

I have been lucky enough to work with some amazing producers and sound engineers over the years. In fact, this has definitely taught me a lot about sound and production in general. Being a very picky individual and a perfectionist when it comes to my work, I spend a lot of time in the studio nit-picking mixes and sessions in order to ensure that I not only release high-quality content but also a product I feel very strongly and positive about.

.

Tell us how you get ideas to develop your songs.

Ideas usually tend to come to me late at night while strumming away on guitar and reflecting on certain things/personal experiences. Most of the time, I tend to quickly map out the type of instrumentation and specific melodic movements that I foresee.

.

.

.

Describe your vocal ability.

In terms of vocal ability, I consider myself more of a singer-songwriter and to have found my own voice if that makes some type of sense.

.

.

.

Tell us how you develop the instrumentation for this song.

I first recorded the demo for this track with my older brother Theo in our little home studio. We worked out the type of instrumentation and production we wanted to go for in order to have a strong reference before fully producing the song and tracking it with a live band. I was then lucky enough to have some amazing session players who really helped to bring this track to life. Furthermore, we also spent a fair amount of time messing around with lots of vintage synths in the studio in order to create the atmospheric and ambient spectrum of this song.

Tell us how you entertain the audience during a live performance.

I’ve been extremely lucky to share the stage with some amazing musicians over the last few years; therefore they definitely make my job a whole lot easier in regards to keeping the crowd entertained. Additionally, as well as comprising of a strong set list, things such as call and response and inviting fans to come and sing a song with us is something the audience have to enjoy a lot also.

Discuss how you think your music is impacting your fans.

I have been extremely touched by some of the responses I have gotten from some of the fans mentioning that my music had helped them get through depression, helped them get over a break-up or even motivated them to chase their dreams. And that’s truly what it is all about.

.

.

.

Tell us what inspires you to sing.

I simply get a certain type of joy and fulfillment from singing and playing the music that I haven’t yet been able to find elsewhere.

.

.

Discuss this song.

I wrote this song about four years ago while traveling alone and missing home and my close ones. I remember sitting at the desk of this small hotel room I was staying at the time and pulling an all-nighter writing ‘Won’t Let Go’. Therefore, this song is primarily based on the idea of missing something so close to your heart that you know you’ll never really be able to let go off no matter how far away you may be.

.

.

.

Discuss how you develop your melody.

The melody for this song first originated on guitar. I remember having the primary guitar parts down rather quickly and playing them over and over again until vocal melodies started to come out and make sense.

.

.

.

Tell us how you master your songs after production.

Lately, I have been sending most of my songs to the extremely talented “Joe Laporta” over at Sterling Sounds.

.

.

.

Discuss how you get your songs to digital stores.

This first EP was self-released and I went through Tunecore.

.

.

.

Discuss how to generate income through music.

These days with the digital world there is no doubt it is extremely challenging to generate adequate income as an independent artist; however live shows and merchandising are both great ways of generating revenue.

.

.

.

Tell us your piece of advice to a new artist.

To never give up.

.

.

.

State your favourite radio station.

I actually don’t listen to much radio these days, but if I had to mention one from the top of my head I would have to say BBC Radio.
