Wasting no time, J-Carter is back with his third album ‘Take Hip-Hop Back’ within a year.

J-Carter states:

“This time around the people will have no choice but to hear me.”

He has been criticized about sounding too old school, not having any trap music, no club bangers, and that he should not even be making music at all.

With this new album, he plans to silence the critics and leave no room for doubt about his lyrical skills while leaving his mark in this hip-hop game.

With 38 tracks spread across this album, there is nothing lacking to quench the thirst of the real hip-hop heads searching for that lyricism and realness.

‘Take Hip-Hop Back’ is an album that balances that traditional lyricism with a contemporary outer shell.

It aims to bring back the realness and reality that hip-hop was known for since its creation.

‘Take Hip-Hop Back’ is the album J-Carter truly believes will leave a mark on the music world, and bring a sound and lyrical objective that has not been heard before in this genre.

Tell us your names, country of birth and childhood experience.

My name is J-Carter born in the United States. My childhood was pretty good despite growing up in poverty. My mother and father divorced when I was 3 and life from then on taught me some valuable lessons the hard way.

.

.

.

State your academic qualification.

I am a high school graduate and also attended college for some time going for a business degree.

.

.

.

Elaborate on your music career, band name, experience, and skills.

It took me some time to get into the rap game due to family obligations and responsibilities I needed to take care of. But I have been writing music since the age of 13 so I’m not new to music; I’m just new to entering the game and putting my name out there for the people.

This rap game is tough because it’s oversaturated with so much music; it’s hard to breakthrough for anyone to listen to your voice. That’s why you have to be unique and come with something nobody else is coming with.

.

.

.

Tell us your genre and idea behind your music video or song.

I’m a hip-hop artist and I kinda got the idea for the song soon as I got the beat from my producer.

It sort of just came to me, I was thinking this would be dope to have me and another dope female M.C going back and forth with each other. Just throwing lyrical bombs verse after verse! So I put the song together, found Cleva Thoughts and the rest is lyrical HISTORY!

.

.

.

Tell us how to run a record label based on your experience as an artist.

Organization and work ethic is the key!! You have to be two steps ahead of everything in this game! Have to be forward thinking, and you can’t let setbacks get the best of you. That’s going to happen! You are going to have bad days, you are going to have bad songs, you are going have bad reviews, but you must have the strength to carry on and keep looking for the next best thing!

.

.

.

Tell us how you are promoting your music.

I am on everything! Facebook ads, Twitter ads, Instagram ads, Spotify ads, newspaper – I like word of mouth though, getting in the people’s face and say listen to this! Your music won’t sell itself; you got to make the people hear what you have to say.

List the radio stations, television stations, and blogs that have aired or featured your new song.

There are too many radio stations to name, but right now my music is playing on over 50 stations across the world and growing. My music has been featured on ItsHipHop.com blog, Real Music Hype, A&R Factory, ArtistRack…

.

.

.

Tell us how long you have been in the music business, your experience, and your future goal.

I have been in the game for about two years now, and my main goal is to get my music into as many people’s ears as possible and to change hearts and minds towards God’s will. Money is not the motivation for me, but good music that people can enjoy and elevate them is enough motivation for me

.

.

.

Tell us what makes you unique from others.

I bring a different style to the game and a different perspective than most rappers.

I have made songs that haven’t been embraced by the rap community.

I love bringing something that makes people think or something people hate or do not want to talk about. What’s the point of being an artist if you can’t paint pictures in people’s minds that make them see something different than what’s in front of them.

Most people in this game want to be rappers, in my case I don’t have to want to be a rapper, it comes naturally for me.

.

.

.

Tell us your weakness and strength pertaining to music.

My weakness is I expect every song that I write and compose to be a hit, actually, that can be a strength to come to think about it.

Also, I have a hard time making club songs, I have tried but it’s not my thing. I am just too lyrical to put a club song together so I just stay in my lane and do what I do best.

My strength is my songwriting ability because I can flip a song anyway. I can write about anything from love, to politics. My lyrical diversity is my strength.

Tell us your position on “Do It Yourself” and signing to a major label.

If you want to sell yourself out to the system and the industry to become famous and rich but be a puppet and slave then yes, go and get signed by a major label.

If you want creative freedom, all the work you put into all come back to you, and create your own timeline and system and stand on your own 2 feet then stay independent.

.

.

.

Tell us other activities you are pursuing apart from music.

I love playing sports (baseball, basketball), I love to study the bible and also the world itself and human behaviour. What makes humans do some of the things we do! That intrigues me, and it makes you a better artist in your music as well.

.

.

.

State the official date of release.

May 9, 2019.

.

.

.

State your artist’s name and elaborate on it.

My name is J-Carter and that is really my government name, I just took the first initial of my first name and put it to my last name. I use to go by the name Jacee, but when my son was born I gave it to him so I had to come up with a new rap name. Jacee stands for J-Jerome’s A- Always C- Conquering  E-Evil   E- Everyday.

State the title of the album and the meaning.

The album name is called ‘Take Hip-Hop Back’ and it’s pretty self-explanatory. In the rap game now is kinda not hip-hop. Hip-hop used to be known for its realness and authenticity and its power to put the truth in your face and fight the powers that be. It used to be about creativity and pure lyricism and uplifting the minds of people.

Now it’s about being fake, how much money you can get, disrespecting women and whoever is in your way, and you don’t have to be lyrically ill to make a song. My album is just a reminder of what Hip-Hop truly is and I’m ‘Taking it Back’ for all who can remember what Hip-hop used to be.
