HOT NEW R&B ARTIST TEAMS WITH SONGWRITER FRANCESKA

London, September 2018: Upcoming new UK R&B artist Georgie Kay has teamed up with long-time SongLink subscriber and international multi-platinum award-winning songwriter Franceska Aeschlimann, whose credits include Russian superstar Valeriya (Billboard Russia #1, No. 3 UK Dance Charts), Petula Clark, Jermaine Jackson, Mario Frangoulis, and W-inds Japan.

She has also co-written with Chris Eaton (Cliff Richard etc.), late Queen Producer David Richards, George De Angelis (Seal), Rob Fusari (Lady Gaga), Ronan Park, Amino Idris, and most recently multi-platinum producer Darren Martyn at his studio in East Croydon on the Georgie Kay tracks.

Some of Darren’s UK previous collaborations include Tinie Tempah, Ironik, Kele Le Roc, and Shola Ama, while he describes this new collaboration as an “amazing experience. Georgie’s vocal ability is great and I’m excited about the songs,” he says. “We all just clicked and created some magic. Georgie is super likable with a long career ahead of her in the industry.”

The singer is poised to set the charts alight with her upcoming urban pop EP, which will feature the single ‘Respect, due for release next year.

The anthemic track follows in the footsteps of Georgie’s first single ‘Black Mamba’, which featured as BBC Introducing’s ‘Banger tune of the evening’ and was described by ‘Like A Boss’ girls’ magazine as “the type of voice made for serving up bold and powerful lyrics-and she uses it.” (Meredith Reed, Editor, Like A Boss Girls.)

Georgie adds, “my new single ‘Respect’ is exactly the message I’ve been wanting to get across to my fans to always respect yourself and stand up for what you believe in.”

‘Respect’ delivers exactly what it says on the tin with the same fabulous punch of female power invoking the spirit of the late great Queen of Soul, Aretha Franklin. Meanwhile, industry veteran Franceska couldn’t have wished for better collaboration, hitting it off from the get-go, saying, “I’m amazed at Georgie’s vocal abilities, and am delighted that the new songs have huge hit potential as Darren is such an amazing producer.”

Manager Amelia McCloskey anticipates that labels will be fighting to sign her as the UK’s hottest new urban act.

In addition, Darren Martyn has recently written and published a book for beginners in the industry entitled the ‘Guide for Artists, Songwriters and Producers’. Darren has previously signed two major publishing deals with Warner Chappell and Bucks Music where he realized his vision for the development of others.

He has been involved in breakthrough records including Sadie Ama ‘Falling’, M.O ‘Dance On My Own’, Fugative ‘Summertime’, Tom Zanetti featuring Sadie Ama ‘You Want Me’, to name just a few.

In addition, he has written and produced many records in S.E. Asia which have achieved millions of sales units.

You’ll find Georgie regularly performing at central London venues including iconic venue, ‘The Bedford’, ‘Portobello Market’, ‘Lucky Pig Cocktail Bar’ and ‘The Bedford Tavern.’ Between her sassy stage persona and her sultry vocals, best believe that you would not be disappointed.

Tell us what your fans are saying about your music.

I often get comments about what I write my music about. I love to sing about things I believe in and values that I think are important and my fans appreciate that.

.

.

.

Tell us the factors you consider in choosing a song as your favourite.

A catchy melody! For me, if the song keeps on playing in your head you know you’ve done it well.

.

.

.

Tell us the names of producers you will collaborate with if you have the chance.

This summer I’m really into dance and house music. I’m a big fan of Martin Garrix and his work so collaborating with him would be pretty cool!

.

.

.

Tell us the names of the songwriters you will collaborate with if you have the chance.

There’s no doubting Ed Sheeran is incredibly talented at writing songs, working on a track with him has always been a dream.

.

.

.

Tell us your favourite TV show and state your reason.

I love Peaky Blinders! But my guilty pleasure would definitely be Friends or the Big Bang Theory, I find them hilarious!

.

.

.

Tell us your best mood to create a song.

I think a few songwriters use songwriting as a form of diary, where you write down all your emotions as often lyrics coming from the heart can create a good song but I often find my best mood for songwriting would be when I’m in a very positive mood, feeling good about myself and full of confidence.

.

.

.

Tell us your interpretation of fame or success.

For me success isn’t about being rich or famous, success is being able to achieve a goal you’ve set and this varies for everyone. What could be a huge success for one person may not be for another but that doesn’t mean they haven’t been successful, if they’ve pushed themselves and achieved a goal they’ve set, that’s success.

.

.

Tell us the names of artists you will collaborate with if you have the chance.

Lewis Capaldi, I love his voice! I’m also a huge fan of Post Malone; I find his style of music very inspiring.

.

.

.

Tell us about your experience performing on stage for the first time or recording in the studio for the first time.

Performing on stage for the first time was the most nerve-wracking experience; it’s live so if I mess up there’s nothing you can do about it.

My first ever session in the studio was less intimidating because I was with my manager who I had grown to be very comfortable with singing in front of.

My first time in the studio with a producer and songwriter though was much more nerve-wracking, these people had worked with big names and had big expectations which I found quite daunting.

.

.

.

Tell us how you approach songwriting.

I go through phases, more often than not I have writing block and I can’t get anything out so I make notes as I go along of sentences that I think could work in a song and eventually put them together.

Some days though if I’m feeling particularly passionate about something that comes to me quite quickly. I always find it helps to have some sort of track to work with though; I can’t put together lyrics to silence.

.

.

.

Elaborate on what compels you to sing.

Singing can be a way of connecting with your emotions or talking about how you feel without directly talking about it, you can display all kinds of emotions through music, connecting with so many people because of that and that’s why I love it.

.

.

.

Elaborate on the song.

‘New Day’ is all about having a positive mind frame when you’re having a bad day, reminding yourself that tomorrow brings a new day, a new beginning and a fresh start and that everything is going to be okay and it worth the fight to pull through and see the better days ahead.
