JAMi2 - What Do You Want?

JAMi2 – What Do You Want?

JAMi2 drops a great music video for the song entitled ‘What do you want?.’

The unique concept of the video is amazing.

JAMi2 is a two-piece electro swing band from Belgrade that combines soulful vocals, stompin’ beats, brassy riffs, and a dash of some good old Balkan spice.

The song reveals the story of the lead singer ‘Georgie’, known previously as Djixx from SevdahBaby, and the award-winning music producer Dejan Pejovic, now called ‘Uncle.’

Coming from humble beginnings, the young lead singer had to work her way to becoming a star. From shaving an old man to bathing him, Georgie worked as a maid who never gave up on her big dreams of becoming a Marilyn Monroe type of a Hollywood star. Little did she know that years later, the dynamic electro swing duo would be born, along with their diabolical master plan of bringing a fresh and funky fever to the world with an infectious gypsy-styled “gangsta glam” band that is JAMi2.

Born into a family of classical musicians, Georgie has had musical superpowers from a young age, with lungs that are known to create their own weather patterns.

As for Uncle, his musical journey began way back in the 90s, grinding on the organ before turning his attention to production and composition.

“We actually met while working together at a jam factory. One day, I just felt like saying “Man, I love jam,” and Uncle, who speaks funny, said “Jam? I too!” Since then, we’ve been spreading our shared love for jammin’ together, infecting one country at a time.” – Georgie

JAMi2’s master plan is to combine elements of gypsy jazz with soulful English vocals and an electro-swing beat to create a whole new East-meets-West sound.

Heidi Tann is a sensitive artist. This can be felt in her stirring renditions of soulful and moving ballads.

Her repertoire is vast; befitting a singer with such versatility as hers – from pop, R&B, pop jazz, standards, disco, bossa nova, and even Broadway themes.

Her interest in music started since childhood where she would compete in local singing contests, sometimes in secret, and would go home bagging the plum prize. Even then, her taste of music was already leaning towards jazz, with songs of Sergio Mendes, Anita Baker, Toni Braxton, Patti Austin, Barbra Streisand and Natalie Cole leading her preferences.

Heidi easily captivates her audience with her authentic delivery.  She also boasts of having a comprehensive range of vocal interpretations.

Heidi is not a stranger to national television in Manila. She performed in TV programs like Eat Bulaga, Ryan Musikahan, Nightcap and many more, in the 90s.

Venturing outside of Manila, Heidi has performed in luxury hotels throughout the Asia Pacific.

Her first show in the US was with Richard Merk, Cesar Montano, and Sunshine Cruz for the Fil-Am Lions Club.

For a while, she also embarked on a series of concerts in Guam.

As a FilAm artist, she has also performed in concerts at the Hollywood Celebrity Center with Mon David, Giji Kocher, Ivy Violan, Lirio Vital & Terrence Panganiban, and more.

She was also one of the lead artists for the “Power of Four” concert at Noypitz Glendale, CA, where she shared top billing with Ivy Violan, Jo Awayan, Djhoanna Garcia in March of 2014.

As a producer, she staged several concerts last year for the Santa Maria Band and herself.

Her first album will be launched in June 2019, with Grammy and Emmy-nominated musical director and record producer, Rex Salas…

Press Release:

“HERE IS WHERE WE MEET”: FilAm Singer Heidi Tann’s Debut Album Is a Dream Come True

LOS ANGELES| JUNE 20, 2019 – This month, a FilAm Singer from Los Angeles, CA, released her debut album, ” Here is Where We Meet”.

The record is a four-track compilation of new music in the smooth jazz genre, produced by Grammy and Emmy nominated record producer, songwriter, musical director, and music arranger, Rex Salas.

Most of the songs were co-written by Heidi herself, collaborating with songwriters Rex Salas, Gary Ford, and Vashon Johnson.

Heidi Tann

Have you ever had a childhood dream come true? “Here is Where We Meet” is just that for Heidi.

Born and raised in the Philippines, Heidi discovered her musical gift and the joy of entertaining at a young age.

As she developed her voice and craft over the years, she has set her sights on releasing an album that reflects her musical style- smooth and pop jazz, with a mix of boss nova and Latin jazz, plus R&B.

Heidi is no stranger to performing to international venues. After completing her Bachelor’s degree from Manila at the age of 22, she immediately chased her dream, embarking on solo gigs throughout Asia. This path saw her performing in music venues in Japan, Hong Kong, Malaysia, Singapore, Indonesia, and Guam.

Life was not always smooth sailing in Heidi’s earlier years of entertaining. As a single mother, singling provided her with the strength she needed to carry on; oftentimes performing as much as 5-6x a week, to provide for her daughter and set an example on the values of hard work and perseverance. This experience also intensified her resolve as an artist.

Today, she is a proud mother to that same daughter, Hannah, who was as a scholar, graduated Summa cum Laude from the University of Southern California’s Annenberg School.

What makes Heidi different? “My cultural heritage and experience – Even when I sing these songs in my chosen genre, my FilAm roots are palpable in my delivery and the feel and tone of my songs. The sum total of my experience enables me to bring depth to the songs I perform.”

Each of the four songs in” Here Is Where We Meet” – “Missing You”, “When Love Is On The Line”, Love Is For Real”, and ” You Give Me Everything I Need” – has a distinctly jazzy feel that evokes different moods.

Heidi is inviting everyone in Los Angeles Area to her upcoming album launch and performance party, June 29, at the PCH Club, in Long Beach…

Progressive metal newcomers, Heart Through Sacrifice, will release their second single from their forthcoming concept album on June 20th, entitled, ‘Born From Sin / The Beast.’

This heavier, darker track introduces the next major character from their fantasy story, a half human, half wraith beast, suiting of the battering double bass drums and guitars and the eerie nursery rhyme embedded to unsettle the listener…

Heart Through Sacrifice is the project of NZ born, London based musician, producer and creative, Doug Rimington (ex-Voodoo Diamond, Hold The Dawn, The Superhelix), who manages to combine his musicianship with his love for storytelling and burgeoning flair for production.

Musically the album (out August 2019 via all digital retailers) showcases Doug’s playing of heavy guitars, frantic drums, and electronic synths – which underpin soaring vocals, courtesy of Corinne Cooper. Her approach helps drive the cinematic narrative of the album and her credits include The Voice, The Chattering Nuns and a number of live performances in the UK and her home of Gibraltar.

The story weaved into the music, is about an orphan boy, a heroic warrior woman and an evil monster hunting them down.

It revolves around the themes of retribution and revenge, love and redemption, as the warrior fights for vengeance, the boy fights for survival and both seek to regain their humanity while being chased by the beast and her army.

The lead track from the album entitled ‘Blood Stained Stone / The Boy’ was released on April 26th and acts as the perfect introduction to the Heart Through Sacrifice sound of melodic progressive metal, boasting an arrangement that ebbs and flows – full of half time break downs, anthemic choruses, and magical storytelling.

A full graphic novel is also in the works, to be released at a later date with the artwork by Bec Dennison of Bullet on a String who is also doing the cover and album art.

All music on the album has been composed, performed and produced by Doug Rimington with final mixing and mastering duties being carried out by Matt Bew (Whitehouse Studios, Reading, UK).

Expect the 3rd single, ‘Eyes of Gold / The Warrior’ to drop in July before the release of the full album in August.

Speaking on the album and project as a whole, Doug explains, ‘I finally have something I am truly proud of, something that represents my creative career so far, that I feel is really special and that I cannot wait to share with everyone!’

‘Heart Through Sacrifice’ self-titled album will be available in August 2019.

.

.

.

Tell us your opinion on creativity and originality.

It can be hard to be creative and original in this day in age, we all have our influences. I think for music, it’s best not to think ‘for this genre it must sound this way’, instead just flow with the song and write what feels right.

.

.

.

Tell us the beginning of your passion for music.

My parents always had the radio on, for long road trips, late nights at home, and so music has embedded in me a sense of ‘home.’

.

.

.

Elaborate on how you make sure the quality of your sound is high.

I have quite a lot of recording experience and so my ear has been trained to listen out for the smallest problems; however I do not want the music to sound programmed or robotic, so parts are still played to the best of my ability without editing or ‘tweaking.’

.

.

.

Tell us how you get ideas to develop your songs.

The tone of the guitar, riffs, and a sound… any of these things can trigger the beginnings of a song theme.

.

.

.

Discuss your music background.

From age 8 I learned piano for 4 years, from there I taught myself guitars, bass, drums, production. From my experience of recording with many other bands, I picked up lots of little tips from other engineers and producers and brought these things into my own recording.

.

.

.

Discuss your music process.

An idea forms, begin riffing out that idea, flow with it. Leave it for a day and go back to it later with fresh airs, flesh it out with drums and bass, leave it for a day… move on and come back to it later. Flesh it out some more and tighten instrument… add padding and production.

The lyrics and vocals all come last in my process as they’re used as another part of the music and not the center piece.

.

.

.

State five hit songs and name the artists.

I have to be honest; I don’t really listen to pop music so I don’t know many hit songs. But my influences are Killswitch Engage, Tremonti, Devin Townsend, Stone Temple Pilots, Anneke van Giersbergen.

.

.

.

Tell us how you entertain the audience during a live performance.

This album is a concept album so we do not tend to talk during the set, instead, we let people become absorbed into the music and story…

.

.

.

List the name of artists that have a similar sound to yours.

No one really sounds similar to us, although we have been compared to Within Temptation, Lacuna Coil and Evanescence.

.

.

.

Discuss how you think your music is impacting your fans.

I hope people will get involved in the story and really enjoy it for the epic tale that it is becoming.

.

.

.

Tell us what inspires you to sing.

Passionate, honest moments in a song.

.

.

.

Discuss this song.

‘Born From Sin/The Beast’ is the second song off the album, it is essentially ‘chapter two’ and introduces the evil monster that is hunting the heroes of the tale and destroying the world.

.

.

.

Discuss how you develop your melody.

I listen carefully to the music and find the melody that fits, I then send my vocal ideas to the singer and she perfects them.

.

.

.

Tell us how you master your songs after production.

All songs are mixed and mastered at Whitehouse Studios in Reading using Pro Tools.

.

.

.

Discuss how you get your songs to digital stores.

Currently, we use Distrokid as they’re superfast, affordable and actually do what they say they do without any dodgy fine print.

.

.

.

Discuss how to generate income through music.

Income from this music is not really something I’ve considered, it’s not pop music and I do not have a budget for marketing or advertising. If people come to the shows and enjoy what we do, that is all I could ask for.

.

.

.

Tell us your piece of advice to a new artist.

Write what feels right, don’t listen to others, be true and honest, the chances of your music succeeding are so slim, if nothing comes of it, at least you will keep your pride and honour.

.

.

.

State your favourite radio station.

Radio Active (New Zealand).

.

.

.

Go into details on this song.

Written originally as a heavy song, it uses mainly 8 string guitars and a lot of double bass. The nursery rhyme style verse was put in to add a bit of an eerie atmosphere to the track.
