ARTIST NAME: Sargent Tucker
SONG TITLE: No One Can Replace You
RELEASE DATE: 07/01/2019
GENRE: R&B/Adult Contemporary
Sargent Tucker’s (ST) impetus for creating this music – “My desire is to write meaningful music with lyrics that inspire self-worth, values the experiences of relationships, and spreads infinite love to others.”
One of life’s major relationship challenges is transitioning through difficult, emotionally painful experiences, while maintaining a love for self, and others involved.
Too often, when a relationship comes to an end, the departure seems unendurable. However, those who have lived a little know that trying times will pass.
As one matures, having peace of mind becomes the focus for achieving real-life success. Whether differences grow from cherishing material processions more than each other, or from engaging in drama, life goes on after losing someone, who can’t be replaced.
ST’s song, “No One Can Replace You”, was created to inspire self-value and hope in the midst of pain from ending a relationship.
Sargent Tucker’s most recent release, “I Need Your Love” featuring Drizabone, charted #1 on the United Kingdom’s Solar Radio.
His song “I AM Happy” was selected as the theme song for the Happiness Foundation, where ST was the featured performer at the Hollywood Global Happiness day; the honourees included Will Smith, Ellen Degeneres, Goldie Hawn, and Robbie Williams. This event was sponsored by the International Happiness Foundation, Drai’s W Hotel, and Dr. Shelly Sykes, a USA Multiple Best-Selling Award-Winning Author.
ST’s first release with Macola Records, “Come See Me,” (of the R&B genre) charted internationally and was featured on the “SUN SET STRIP” Compilation Album along with Hip Hop Pioneers: N.W.A. (Ice Cube) Dr. Dre’s Production of the “World Class Wreckin’ Cru.”
Also, “Stop Telling Me” a song written by ST and recorded with the band “Two Things in One” (TTIO) was featured on the Grammy Nominated “Music City Story” compilation CD liner notes. Later, ST was inducted into the “Bay Area Blues Society Hall of Fame”, as a member of TTIO.
Currently, Sargent Tucker is writing and arranging new material. He is also in the studio recording a soon to be released new single titled, “No One Can Replace You”, written and arranged by ST.
Again, overseeing this production is Levi Seacer, Grammy Nominated Producer, and former Music Director of the late, great PRINCE.
The studio musicians who contributed to this project include Danny Thomas (Keyboardist) Co-founder of “Con-Funk Shun”, Carl Lockett, Legendary Bay Area (Guitarist); Lorenzo Hawkins (Keyboardist); Will Williams (Guitarist); Levi Seacer (Guitar and Keyboards), Cedric Wilmott, and Edwin Moore (Drums); and Sargent Tucker (Bass Guitar) Lead and background vocals.
Discuss your existence.
New Orleans born; my musical roots can be traced to the San Francisco Bay Area music scene.
I’m a multi-talented, singer, musician, writer, and producer; a country boy at heart. By nature, I’m a loner.
Without any fear to stand-alone for what I believe, I’ve never been a follower.
Absence of the need for personal recognition, I prefer to edify the successes of others, rather than my own. I don’t take myself too seriously, “music is only 12-notes”.
However, I definitely take my work seriously, similar to a perfectionist, which is my approach to nearly everything. Music is love, but not my only love. More than fortune, fame, or stardom, actually I placed greater value on a promise I made to my mother to finish college (and graduated with honors from the University of California, Davis).
State your favorite genre of music and your reason.
I grew up playing various styles of music: Blues, Jazz, Funk, Rock, etc.
However, my favorite is R&B.
State your experience as a musician.
I’ve performed with many of today’s major contemporary artist:
2016 Solar Radio #1 Sargent Tucker, “I Need Your Love” featuring Drizabone,
2019 Starpoint Radio #10 August 2, 2019…
Tell us the theme of your song.
“No One Can Replace You” is clear, no one can ever be replaced good or bad, life just moves on.
“My desire is to write meaningful music with lyrics that inspire self-worth, values the experiences of relationships, and spreads infinite love to others”.
Name the people behind your success and thank them on this platform.
I want to thank all of the following: Willie James, New Concept Marketing, Don Huggins formerly of Hush Productions, UK, Gary Spence (Solar Radio) Gary Van den Bussche DSG Promotions, Disco Soul Label, and StarPoint Radio.
State your future goals.
I like to continue writing meaningful music.
Elaborate on how you think your music is inspiring your fans.
Everyone at one time in their lives will experience love challenges and it’s inspiring to realize, life goes on!
Analyze the transformations you have discovered so far in the music industry.
The transformations of technology I find to be very often, overwhelming.
State the artists you cherish most and your reason.
I cherish and respect the entire artists who have achieved a level of success. The reason is that I realize how very difficult it is to accomplish anything in today’s music industry.
Elaborate on how you develop your lyrics.
Lyrics come to me when I’m not thinking about the lyrics. Therefore, I keep a pencil and paper close.
Thus, even when I’m driving; sometimes I just pull over and write an idea down or it’s usually gone forever.
Tell us if you enjoy collaborating with other artists or just singing as a solo artist.
Yes, I love to collaborate; several of my first songs were collaborations.
Brief us with your opinion on making music that makes people dance or making the music with a genuine message that inspires them.
I just write what comes to me, I’ve tried forcing it and that doesn’t work for me. If it feels up and I can dance to it, I write it that way, and if it feels slow or downtempo, I just follow the mood.
I copyright my completed and or recorded songs immediately and would advise every writer to do the same.
Discuss the impact of a Performance Rights Organization.
I’m a member of ASCAP as a writer and publisher, you must register…
Elaborate on how you develop your melody and instrumentation.
It just comes out of nowhere, I wish I could explain it but I can’t!
Go into detail on the recording of this song.
First I lay out the song on my guitar, do a chart of the music and lyrics. Do a demo recording and let my producer hear it and get feedback.
I then schedule rehearsals for the session musicians I’m going to use. I usually have the recording scheduled shortly after the material has been rehearsed.
Discuss your music performance.
This is what’s I’ve done all my teenage and adult life. Knowing the venue and audience is important, and then the song choices and order is major for performance!
State your artist’s name and elaborate on it.
Sargent Tucker, my sister coined this name. She’s much older but felt that I was always giving her orders, it wasn’t a compliment?
State the title of the song and the meaning.
“No One Can Replace You” is exactly what it means; no one can ever be replaced, DNA is unique to one individual!
