Born in San Antonio Texas, IMC has spent the last eleven years crafting his sound and skills and finally has decided that it’s time to share his talent with the world.

.

.

.

State your history.

I love music and I picked up production at 13 and over the years I’ve made albums after albums I kept to myself. Some of my works have been used by rappers like Token but after a long dry spell, I decided to release my work as I make it.

.

.

.

Describe yourself as an artist.

I’m a versatile musician that produces, raps, sings, plays several instruments, engineers, and basically runs all ends for himself.

What I intend is to bring back, at least for myself, vibe music in the midst of a sea of artists that have similar sounds, stories, and bars. I don’t have hate for anyone I’d just rather hear things similar to the sounds and styles that I personally make. And hopefully, it’s dope enough for others to get in on the vibe as well.

.

.

.

Tell us the genre of your music.

Hip hop mostly but I crossover with several genres, i.e. down-tempo, EDM trap, afro-beats, and hopefully I can do some reggaeton and Dembow in the future because there are some dope works and sounds there.

.

.

.

Tell us the story behind your song.

‘Rancier’ is the name of a street in Killeen and I’m basically retelling a story in a cryptic manner of a time when I spent the night at this girl’s house and I left in the morning without a car only to end up in the thick of the hood of Killeen, Texas. It’s less of a story but more of sentiment on how I viewed life in the hood growing up versus being grown and seeing it again.

.

.

.

Tell us the problems you are facing as a musician/artist.

My biggest problem currently is in a world full of trap artists and people stanning them, I face difficulty getting people to work with me just because what these artists like to make doesn’t necessarily coincide with my style of music – Which is fine honestly I’ll do it by myself but altogether it does get frustrating, especially when you’re trying to network and gain recognition for your work.

.

.

.

Discuss the recording and production of the song.

‘Rancier’ was pretty much recorded and produced in my bedroom, the same as my other works since I’ve started making music. I really just make it from scratch and knocked it out in about two hours recording and all.

.

.

.

Elaborate on your music career, experience, and future goals.

I honestly would love to become a mainstream artist and have the resources to expand my sonic vision but as it stands currently I’m just happy making the best music I can for the people that surround me and believe in me.

.

.

.

Brief us what inspires you to write, compose and sing/rap.

What inspires me is my insane life, I’ve had so many adventures in such wild and weird places, I just want to keep having these unique experiences and grow so I can give the people more music that can’t be replicated.

.

.

.

Brief us the top-secret behind making a hit song.

There is none at this point aside from dope lyrics and an insane beat.

.

.

.

Tell the advice you will give to an upcoming artist.

I am an upcoming artist.

“I don’t take advice from people less successful than me” – Kanye

.

.

.

Tell us how you write your lyrics, compose, sing and record in the studio.

Honestly, there’s not much to tell because I don’t really give it much thought. I just make what sounds good to me. If it doesn’t; it gets trashed.

.

.

.

Name your favourite artists for collaboration.

Rob 1on1 is dope as fuck, VERSEatyle is a crazy bar scientist, Marico the Shogun has some of the best hooks and energy you could bring to the track, and Token is just fire ( even if I only produced one song he released).

.

.

.

Tell us how you will spend a million dollars.

Build a studio, buy a business, invest, buy myself a condo, buy the rest of my mommas crib, get my girl a G-class because she’s obsessed and I’d get another truck.

.

.

.

Discuss music promotion and how you are boosting your fan base.

You know word of mouth to me was always the best way to get more fans, so I guess just make better music overall.

.

.

.

Tell us how you manage other activities with your music career.

I make music whenever I get the chance. I never let it rest.

.

.

.

State your artist’s name and elaborate on it.

ItsMrCain (IMC) is basically a tag I made and it was based off of Cain from the bible because of my personal beliefs about people, their nature and self-preservation. I picked Cain because it represents people at their true selves to me.

.

.

.

State the title of the song and the meaning.

Rancier, it’s named after one of the most hood streets in Killeen, Texas, which is one of the most hood towns in Texas. Just a huge mixture of people from different places that ended up in a place that is just broken.

.

.

.

State the title of the album and the reason for choosing the title.

I’m obsessed with people’s motives for certain actions, so I named the album MOTIV3 to mark this mile in my journey musically, the 3 for the E is because I believe three to be a big number in nature.
