Singer-songwriter Donna Harfield brings to light a fascinating video for the song entitled ‘Perfect’- a cover of Pink’s ‘Perfect.’

‘Perfect’ is a mix of a female vocal with inspirational instrumentation.

Donna brings the best out of the song with her angelic vocals.

The video is appealing.

The video features Leila and James, fresh off their Strictly Come Dancing tour.

Her delivery of words is outstanding while the performance is impressive.

Through dance and song, the video shows the journey of self-acceptance, positivity, and embracing who you are.

The song promotes body confident messages and the importance of loving who you are.

More!

Born and raised in the small village of East Preston, West Sussex, Singer-Songwriter, Donna Harfield always had ambitions that stretched beyond village limits.

Now, in her thirties, this powerful and expressive singer with huge stage presence is creating a lot of interest in the industry.

Her forthcoming release, an EP called ‘I Marry Me’, features covers from some of the world’s best known and most powerful female stars, including Pink and Annie Lennox.

Style and Influences

Growing up with an eclectic mix of music, from Otis Redding, Jimi Hendrix, and Muddy Waters to Mumford and Sons, Muse and Red Hot Chilli Peppers, Donna’s style is a fusion of old school pop, rock, blues, soul and ballads.

Favourite artists are also varied, but powerful, vocal women feature highly on her list, including Annie Lennox, Cher, and Stevie Nicks, to Lisa Stansfield, Dido, Carrie Underwood, Florence Welch, and Shakira.

Inspired by well-known radio stations like Radio 1, Radio 2 and Heart, alongside the more intimate and informal community stations such as Spirit FM and Splash, Donna loves the mix of commercial songs and ‘good banter’ that radio offers and has featured on many live sessions.

She has a mature and pure vocal and is a lyrical songwriter with a piano ballad bias, using real experiences to fuel her songs and decisions.

Motivation

Donna worked as a jobbing actress and singer for many years, enjoying much success and acclaim on stage, and meeting many of her music idols working as a personal shopper at one of London’s most exclusive department stores.

However, following a period of heartbreak, Donna returned home to the coast to reset, recharge and rediscover her passion for song-writing. Through this, she discovered her own sound.

Donna has seen love and tragedy; she writes from her own experiences for herself, and for all women. A resilient and talented artist, who has experienced life’s highs and lows, her voice is clear and strong: she stands for independence, confidence, optimism, and courage.

Describing her style as “music to move and mend”, Donna is on a mission to use her soulful, yet entertaining storytelling style to empower women and help to heal broken hearts.

“Some stars explode onto the scene like a meteor and then quickly fragment and disappear. Donna Harfield is different. She has paid her dues, been to drama school, gigged with cover bands, plays piano and has written songs for years. She looks good, sounds good and is a powerful performer on stage. However, what lifts her above the day-to-day is the quality of her songwriting.”

  • Roy Stannard, Splash Radio founder and presenter.

Live performance

Aside from being a talented singer/songwriter, Donna has a powerful stage presence and loves live performance. She studied drama at College and University and gained entry to drama school in 2008.

Her background is extensive; ranging from musicals such as Les Misérables and Blood Brothers to plays including Caryl Churchill’s Top Girls and Sarah Kane’s Crave; not to mention plenty of live sessions for radio, regular gigs with cover bands and appearances at events around the country.

Donna’s style is powerful, dominant and audience responsive. She commands the stage with presence and confidence…

“Stripped back acoustic gigs are some of my favourites,” says Donna. “Having that level of intimacy with the crowd, where you can see the ‘whites of the eyes’, is such a responsibility; more so than big stages and stadiums where all you see is lights…”

With lots of exciting projects in the pipeline, 2019 is most definitely going to be a big year for Donna Harfield.

Lyrics

Burn me to the ground

Like a ruin, can’t be found

Ashes with no Flame

Drowning in you words

If I hold my breathe

I know I won’t get hurt

But I am never gonna give up

I am never gonna leave

Brick by Brick gonna build it up

Brick by Brick

Without you I’m just fine,

I’m alright, I’m wide awake

Without you I’m just fine,

I’m alright, I’m wide awake

Blown away

A hurricane can’t be tamed

I won’t be framed, it’s time to change

But I am never gonna give up

I am never gonna leave

Brick by Brick gonna build it up

Brick by Brick

Without you I’m just fine,

I’m alright, I’m wide awake

Without you I’m just fine,

I’m alright, I’m wide awake

How am I supposed to grow

When you’ve scorched the ground below

How am I to grow

How am I supposed to grow

When you’ve scorched the ground below

How am I to grow

How am I to grow

Without you I’m just fine,

I’m alright, I’m wide awake

Without you I’m just fine,

I’m alright, I’m wide awake

More!

The gentle, adult alternative electro-pop tunes of London duo Oh Wonder are often recognizable for their distinctive vocal unison.

A project started as a songwriting exercise, they charted in the U.K. and elsewhere with their 2015 eponymous debut of keyboard-and-drum machine songs.

The duo expanded instrumentation to include analog synths, strings, and live drums on the livelier Ultralife in 2017.

In September 2014, songwriters Anthony West and Josephine Vander Gucht set out to write, record, and release one song a month for a year, culminating in a home-recorded, downtempo debut album – Titled Oh Wonder; it was completed and shared online in early September 2015.

In the meantime, the band became a viral sensation, garnering millions of streams and receiving high-profile radio play at home.

They signed with Republic Records and were selling out live shows in places like London, Paris, Amsterdam, Los Angeles, and New York City before the album’s arrival and before ever performing publicly.

The debut went on to reach the Top 30 in the U.K. and Canada, also charting in Ireland, the Netherlands, Switzerland, the U.S., where it peaked at number 80 on the Billboard 200.

The follow-up, their first to be conceived as an album, featured a broader palette and brighter tone. Still self-produced, Ultralife arrived on Republic in mid-2017. Reaching as high as number eight in the U.K. and a slightly improved number 76 in the States, it was followed by more touring, including a handful of dates opening for Beck in North America in 2018.

They returned in 2019 with “Hallelujah,” the yet more vibrant lead single from their third long-player.

Lydia Briggs, Cleveland-based singer/songwriter releases new single, “Carolina Queen.”

Carolina Queen is accompanied by a simple music video – Partnering once again with Cleveland-based videographers, Clockwork 9 (Fallen Captive).

Carolina Queen will pull you in like the tide and washes over you.

Carolina Queen is about the loss of innocence and leaving something you love behind.

“The Carolinas hold a special place in my heart,” says Lydia Briggs. “I grew up with summers on those beaches. Some of my most treasured memories are from there. But it’s also home to one of my darkest moments. I found myself changed forever. I was no longer the ‘Carolina Queen’ I had imagined myself to be as a child and feared to return.

I’m happy to say I finally found the courage to walk those beaches again, shoot the video for this release, and show off the beauty of the Carolina coast.”

Her debut EP comes out later this year on her label, Gin House Records.

More!

Born and raised a mile from the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame, Lydia Briggs has been playing piano non-stop since the age of 5. At 13, she began writing songs, filed for her first business at 14 (her independent label, Gin House Records) and copyrighted all of her material.

At 15, Lydia teamed with producer Jim Wirt to record her first six songs and began releasing singles through her distribution partner, AWAL.

The 16-year-old musician is blessed with a pure voice, blues-influenced piano style, and a bohemian sensibility. Reflecting her idol, Regina Spektor, Briggs’s brain-voice connection runs from her fingers to her heart – singing and playing the piano as one.

The world in words captured by Briggs creates vivid stories based on personal experiences.

Her voice warns of cruelty and oppression in “Down”, while the intensity of “White Angel Wings” speaks to the seismic shift felt when one is stripped of faith. These moments point to an artist wise beyond her years.

“Writing is extremely cathartic for me,” says Lydia, who practices journaling daily.

“I’ve been scared, lonely, and completely furious at the world too many times in my very short life. I find music to be very powerful and healing. And I want others to use my music to sing, release emotions, and bravely face this world right alongside me.”

She is honored to have been selected by the legendary, multi-platinum producer Jim Wirt (Fiona Apple, Incubus, No Doubt, Hoobastank, LIVE, Hidden In Plain View) for the recording of her first EP. And, getting to play on the grand piano that Andrew McMahon (Something Corporate and Jack’s Mannequin) left at the studio for following musicians to track with was an added blessing.

Lyrics:

Seashells and my toes in the sand

It’s now just foreign land

And your strong hands

The water keeps running away

You were never listening

When I told you to go

No, No No, I could never go

I can’t stand with my feet in the sand

No, I could never go

I’m no Carolina Queen

I’m no Carolina Queen oh

Carolina Queen oh

Carolina Queen

No, No No, I could never go

I can’t stand with my feet in the sand

No, I could never go

I’m no Carolina Queen

The world of hip-hop tells women that they should make themselves smaller to survive – That to reach the game’s top tier; they have to discredit every other girl running alongside them.

A razor-sharp rhymer who focuses on her own work first, rapper Ms Banks doesn’t believe in that bull****. The cocky alter ego of a 24-year-old South Londoner, she’s made it her M.O. to sidestep unnecessary drama. Instead, her penchant for wordplay and earworm melodies has made her a jewel in the crown of contemporary British hip-hop.

Rising singer and genre-defying star Tyla Yaweh uncovers the personal and emotionally charged music video for “Who Shot Johnny?”

It stands out as the latest release from his acclaimed debut project, Heart Full Of Rage [London Entertainment/ Epic Records/ Black Butter Records].

Directed by Arrad [Tyga, A$AP Rocky, Ty Dolla $ign], the visual depicts the horrors of gun violence and flaws in the justice system with no holds barred.

Set and shot in his native Orlando, Florida, the video intercuts scenes of a trap house with a mother mourning her gunned-down son on the streets. These images hit especially hard when paired with lines such as “Twelve beating on the door looking for some witnesses. Ain’t nobody tell ’em shit ’cause they know what the business is.”

The song itself is evocative of his ability to fuse hard-hitting subject matter and magnetically massive melodies.

About “Who Shot Johnny?”, Tyla said, “‘Who Shot Johnny?’ represents a major part of my journey and story. It’s also a dope ass song for the hood. ‘Johnny’ represents the n***** in the neighbourhoods across America. I didn’t wanna sugar coat any of these stories…”

In his vision, “Johnny” represents those lost too soon to gun violence in disenfranchised communities, commenting on the stories that go unreported each and every day.

He gives the problem a name and a face and makes a bold statement in the process.

Already, the track has impressively amassed over four million streams across platforms. Meanwhile, the total stream tally on Heart Full of Rage exceeds seventy million-plus streams.

After concluding two arena tours across Europe and Australia alongside Post Malone (in addition to Jaden Smith in Australia) and appearing in high-profile festival lineups from Bonnaroo to Lollapalooza and the iconic Reading and Leeds, Tyla Yaweh once again takes his high-energy live show on the road as support on The Runaway Tour, rounding a bill headlined by Post and including Swae Lee. It kicks off at Tacoma Dome in Tacoma, Washington on September 14, plays stages across North America for two months, and wraps with a two night run at the Forum in Los Angeles on November 20 and 21.

Right now, Tyla Yaweh is putting the finishing touches on a new collection of music, set for release soon. Get ready for him to rise to the top on his own terms in 2019 and beyond.

The song is catchy and inviting while the video is pleasing.

The lyrics of the songs are rich.

The video switches between the narrative aspect and the performing aspect.

More!

Growing up in Ireland, pianist Danny O’Donoghue and guitarist Mark Sheehan loved cutting-edge American pop and R&B, but they were also captivated by the power and drama of U2 and The Police.

First coming together as The Script in 2001, their self-titled 2008 debut album offered soaring rock anthems and tender ballads with an R&B edge, earning them hits on both sides of the Atlantic; later albums added hip-hop, Celtic folk, and dance-pop to the group’s driving, melodic sound. The Script will move you and groove you all at once on this funky, catchy, and uplifting collection.

The Script are one of the world’s most successful bands, with over 30 million records sold and multiple sell-out global tours under their belts.

The Irish three-piece have scored multi-platinum success across all five of their albums, four of which reached number 1 on the Official UK album charts, including Freedom Child, released on September 2017.

Freedom Child sees the band very much in the real world; presenting a collection of urgent, future-facing anthems that speak of both real-life events and real-time sonic adventurism. It’s The Script, standing up and standing strong, its title a reflection of the “whole new world we are in” and its songs demonstrate an energetic embrace of modern pop production.

On top of the UK and Ireland, The Script have a huge and immensely loyal following across the globe. Freedom Child stormed straight into the Top 10 on iTunes in over twenty countries. They also have a committed following in the USA where they have 4 x platinum-certified singles.

One of the world’s greatest live bands, they have sold over two million tickets across three hundred headline shows and sold out the legendary Croke Park stadium in their hometown of Dublin in a matter of minutes.

Marina is consistent in her delivery of words and the lyrics are expressive.

‘Twisted’ is a tuneful song and the vocals are compelling.

The video is stunning and dramatic.

More!

Marina Kaye is a 21-year-old French artist from Marseille, who shot to fame in her homeland four years ago when her debut single “Homeless” reached Number 1.

Before that, Marina had never considered herself capable of being a pop singer. Describing herself as a “shy” and “weird” child growing up, Marina didn’t even know she could sing until one of her friends told her so.

From there, Marina’s friend entered her into France’s Got Talent which she won in 2011 at the age of 13.

In 2012 she signed to TGIT Music to work on her first album, Fearless. The album topped the charts in France and later became certified double platinum.

Her hit, “Homeless”, garnered millions of views on YouTube. Fast forward a few years after releasing her second album, Explicit, and Marina has now more than 80 million collective views of her music videos on YouTube.

SIA has also written one of her songs (“Freeze You Out”).

She is now preparing her third record. In 2019 Marina is making “dark pop” with a mature outlook on life.

Her voice, which flits from mellifluous in one beat to pop-operatic in the next, is a beautiful boon to her songwriting.

Stylistically, her music may jump between piano-pop balladry and electronic/R&B sounds but Marina’s penchant for setting a mood and a scene remains central.

Her songs, she says, are always “very personal” even if they’re cloaked in metaphor.

The Big Moon are very excited to announce the details of their new album, ‘Walking Like We Do’, the follow up to their acclaimed Mercury Music Prize-nominated debut ‘Love In The 4th Dimension’. The album is released on 10th January 2020 via Fiction Records…

The Big Moon share a new single and music video for “Your Light.”

Having recently returned with the explosive new track ‘It’s Easy Then’, the British band punch heavy once more here with the dazzling cinematic pop right-hook of ‘Your Light’, premiered as Annie Mac’s Hottest Record on Radio 1.

The ‘Your Light’ video was filmed in the Essex countryside and features the band showcasing some bicycle-related dance moves and sharing the limelight with some unexpected furry friends.

Vocalist and songwriter Juliette Jackson explains the track:

“I was thinking about how hard it is to tell if things are worse now or if they have always been this way and I just grew up and started paying attention. To me, it feels like we are at this tipping point that is unprecedented, but then it occurred to me that every generation before us probably had a moment when they thought they were going to be the last generation on earth.

“This song is about freeing yourself from all of it, just for a moment. It’s a thanks to the one person or thing in your life that knows how to come in and open your curtains and light up the darkness and restore your strength so that when you clatter back down into the real world you have the strength to fight your battles, whatever they are.”

As a record, ‘Walking Like We Do’ finds The Big Moon at a thematic crossroads, swapping the more straightforward love songs of their debut album for thornier topics.

Juliette’s lyrics throughout the album find the band trying to make sense of the world we live in, riding through instability and never quite shaking the feeling that anything could happen.

The band firmly harnessed these fears, moulding them into a positive force, losing none of the excitement and joy that first brought them together and sees them creating the boldest and brightest music of their career.

“We don’t know where we’re going/but we’re walking like we do” – Lyric from “A Hundred Ways To Land”

Juliette: “Walking Like We Do is about being strong in the face of uncertainty, about standing tall even though you’re completely lost and not being afraid of the future because it just keeps on coming.”

The Big Moon will hit the road in support of Pixies throughout September, and with Bombay Bicycle Club in January and February 2020. The full list of dates includes two nights at London’s Alexandra Palace:
