Ray BLK is a brilliant artist.

More!

Hailing from Catford, South East London, Ray BLK (real name Rita Ekwere) is an R&B singer/songwriter known for her introspective and socio-political lyrics.

She grew up heavily influenced by music, having grown fond of Timbaland and Missy Elliot performances on music channels such as MTV Base and grime artists on Channel U.

After deciding that her dream was to pursue a career in music, she set the wheels in motion at the age of ten, penning her own lyrics in her school notebooks, which led her teachers to put her in a music program for talented young individuals.

She continued to explore her creativity throughout her teens. When she was 13, she worked on some of her earliest material with fellow school pupil and future record producer and songwriter MNEK, in a group the two had created called New Found Content. Although the project’s end results never saw the light of day, it proved a significant cornerstone in the young creative’s journey.

It wasn’t until the final days of her university studies in English literature that she felt ready to put her voice out into the world and delved through the lyrics, songs, and assorted instrumentals that she had kept over the years.

It didn’t take long for some cohesive material to come together, and she ultimately decided upon the stage name of BLK, which stands for “Building, Living, Knowing,” and put together some finished material.

Inspired by the character of Miss Havisham in Charles Dickens’ Great Expectations, she described the character’s journey as being “like a lot of women around me, who got their heartbroken” and put together her first EP, Havisham. It was the public’s first real introduction to the young singer/songwriter and had an instant impact.

Alongside her impressive collaborations with artists such as Dream Koala and SELVSSE, BLK’s verses evaded the sure-fire rap-influenced vocals of her youth and moved closer to an area that combined elements of hip-hop, R&B, and neo-soul. The release led to an ever-increasing fan base for the young singer beyond the fringes of her native Catford.

She released the single “50/50” in 2015 – a woozy, languid, and magnetic R&B piece consisting of mordant lyrics directed at an old flame. The song earned her a high spot on BBC 1Xtra’s playlist as well as the honourable “Record of the Week” from BBC Radio 1’s Huw Stephens.

2016 saw more success for Ray BLK. Generally considered her breakthrough track, “My Hood” featured grime heavyweight Stormzy. The song was appealing because it was a bittersweet ode to its author’s hometown, and it also highlighted the struggles and stresses of living in gentrified parts of the city.

This way of reminiscing about her youth and growing up earned her a comparison to stateside R&B legend Lauryn Hill, as well as other soul artists such as Amy Winehouse, and exemplified BLK’s ability to combine a myriad of influences without being consumed by a single particular style. Both “50/50” and “My Hood” were featured on BLK’s second release, the mini-album Durt. Alongside Stormzy, the effort also featured collaborations with Wretch 32 and SG Lewis.

Ray BLK’s status among both fans of urban music and music industry critics earned her widespread praise and a nomination for the BBC Sound of 2017. She won the award in January 2017 and continued to write more material, which would land on her debut full-length, Empress. Issued in October 2018 on Island Records, the album included the singles “Run Run” and the title track.

Cade Bittner drops a catchy song entitled ‘I’ve Gotta Be Me.’

‘I’ve Gotta Be Me’ is also the title of the album.

It comprises eight songs.

Cade impresses with his raw and symphonic vocal.

‘I’ve Gotta Be Me’ is a mix of a male vocal with jazz instrumentation.

The level of musicality is high because Cade is a great vocalist while the composition is outstanding.

More!

Riding high on his recent #5 debut on the iTunes Jazz charts, Cade Bittner was born in Minnesota but raised on a farm in Indiana.

At 19, he moved to New York City to attend college with only fifty dollars to his name.

After graduation, Cade spent the next ten years working in Television, Film, and Entertainment between New York City and Los Angeles while never losing sight of his love for singing.

After moving to Minneapolis, Cade took the plunge and released his debut EP titled “Survivor” in 2012.  Following that, he next released another EP titled “Merry Christmas” in 2013.

Cade spent the next two years focused on promoting his music, getting married and starting a family.

In 2016 and 2017, Cade was invited to be a part of the annual charity album A MINNESOTA HOLIDAY: VOLUME 7 & 8.

After spending a year 100% dedicated to philanthropy, the Leukemia & Lymphoma Society named Cade 2018 MAN OF THE YEAR after raising nearly $200,000.000 over the course of 10-weeks.  His record-breaking win not only changed his life but also changed his purpose.

In September 2019, Cade released his first full-length album titled “I’ve Gotta Be Me” which debuted at #5 on the iTunes Jazz charts.  The album features a duet with Shoshana Bean and a hidden track of his son, Parker, singing.

All the album proceeds from this album will benefit the Leukemia & Lymphoma Society.

.

.

.

Discuss your singing ability.

I trained vocally through college but really found my voice and sound later in life.  I have been singing my entire life and would like to believe I am great at it.  I can sing opera, gospel, soul, country, blues, rock, and jazz.

.

.

.

Tell us the reason you want to sing.

I sing because I love it and was born to do it.  God blessed me with the talent so I use it to the best of my ability.

.

.

.

Tell us your most memorable live performance.

When I sang the National Anthem at the opening ceremony for the March of Dimes 75th Anniversary March for Babies walk on in St. Paul, Minnesota at Como Park. 5,000 people were in attendance to celebrate the historic event and I will never forget it.  It gives me chills just thinking about it.

.

.

.

Discuss how you build your song.

Since I sing covers on this album, it was more about the arrangements and how I would put my mark on these Great American Songbook classics.

.

.

.

Tell us how you impress your fans with your music.

I never do anything with the intention to impress.  I pour my heart and soul into making music so the best way I can “impress” my fans is by releasing exceptional music that will stand the test of time.

.

.

.

Discuss the relevance of promotion to the music business.

Without promoting your music, no one hears it – When I coach or mentor, I talk about this career being a business.  It’s not just about singing and applause.  It is a business and you are the CEO of your name and/or band.  If you want to last and make an impression, you have to run your business like a boss.  And promotion is a huge piece of that.

.

.

.

Tell us what you will do apart from music.

I am married and have a 3-year-old son so when I am not doing music, I love being a Dad and spending time with family and friends. I am also heavily involved with the Leukemia & Lymphoma Society.  I found a way to marry my love of making music with philanthropy which has been the greatest gift to me in life.  Nothing feels better than giving back or helping to leave the world a better place.

.

.

.

List the names of the instruments you can play.

Drums.

.

.

.

Tell us if you have any music background.

I grew up doing musical theatre, attended college for musical theatre and trained vocally with The Juilliard School in New York City.

.

.

.

Tell us the piece of advice you will give to a new artist on entering the music chart.

Celebrate entering and get back to work quickly.  It takes a lot of work to hit any chart and even more to stay on them.  Promote, promote and promote!

.

.

.

Elaborate on melody and rhythm.

In my opinion, melody and rhythm are critical to a song’s success.  A great melody and rhythm are what sticks with most people.  Some of the biggest pop hits have weak lyrics but they are hits because people love the melody and rhythm.

.

.

.

State your future goals.

I am currently promoting I’VE GOTTA BE ME and then plan to celebrate its success.  I still can’t believe it debuted at #5 on the iTunes Jazz charts so I plan to ride this wave as long as I can.

I am working on my first music video for the album and plan to release that by the end of the year.

I will always make music but it is also important to me to maintain a work/life balance so 2020 will be spent enjoying the album, time with my family… and dreaming of the next album.

.

.

.

Share your music experience with us.

I mentioned before that I trained vocally and professionally through college but really found my sound much later in life.  After exploring if a record deal was right for me or not, I decided to release my music as an independent artist.  I love my journey and love being able to call the shots.

.

.

.

Tell us the most difficult part of the recording.

Staying vocally healthy!  When you have a studio booked, the engineer, the band, a specific time… you have to make sure that when it comes the time to sing, that your voice is in peak shape.  It’s a lot of pressure and takes real focus on staying healthy.

.

.

.

Discuss the greatest mistake you have ever made in your music career.

This is a tough one.  Without naming any names or specifics, there was a time I said a vocal was okay and moved on to the next song.  I was feeling rushed for time and like everyone around me was ready to move on.  I ignored my gut and to this day it still bothers me that I didn’t take one more pass at the vocal – A great reminder that you are always in control and have to speak up while standing firm ground.

.

.

.

Tell us how you build up your composition.

Building a composition – to me – is about putting together the right songs for the album.  The best songs for the project versus the songs I love to sing.  It can be both but you have to think of it from a marketing perspective.

.

.

.

Discuss the relevance of the lyrics to the listeners.

Lyrics are an ongoing discussion in my life and circle of friends.  Like I referenced before, some of the biggest pop hits have horrible lyrics.  I personally will forgive bad lyrics if the melody and rhythm are catchy.  The majority of people will.  But when it comes to musical theatre, I do not accept bad lyrics.  In musicals, they have to tell a story and further the plot. It isn’t something you can ignore – you have to really listen.

.

.

.

Elaborate on the song.

I’VE GOTTA BE ME was immortalized by Sammy Davis, Jr. and has been recorded by many artists.  The song has always been an anthem for me and the first song I decided would go on the record.  It’s all about loving yourself and owning your individuality.  It’s about going after your dreams and staying true to who you are.

.

.

.

Elaborate on your artist name and the title of the album.

My artist name is my birth name.  When I was growing up, I hated it because it was unique and people always mispronounced it.  The older I got, the more I grew to love it and realized that it made me stand out.  I also knew it would look fabulous on a marquee!  The title of my album is I’VE GOTTA BE ME.  The song is my anthem and one of my favourite songs in the world.

Ricardo Bacelar drops an amazing music video for the song entitled ‘Somewhere In The Hills’ taken from the album Sebastiana.

Ricardo thrills with inspirational sounds of jazz while Elena Rose delivers compelling vocals that the listeners cannot resist.

“Sebastiana” is the third solo album of the Brazilian pianist, composer and arranger Ricardo Bacelar. Produced by Cesar Lemos (BMI and ASCAP awards in the USA), it was recorded and mixed in Miami, United States, at the legendary Hit Factory (Criteria) and Rebel 11 studios. Its concept gravitates around a Latin American rereading of a Brazilian music repertoire portion.

“Sebastiana” was recorded by Brazilian, American, Cuban, Argentine, Venezuelan, Colombian and Peruvian musicians. By researching traditional rhythms, an arrangement laboratory was conceived to implement the fusion of Latin American and Brazilian music elements.

It shows contemporary arrangements and a strong jazzy accent, with a subtle percussion that confirms South America ́s influence. The result is unusual and presents an important contribution to the Brazilian music scenario in the international context.

It is an instrumental record, having four of its tracks sung. The album is being released in Latin America, Japan, Europe and in the United States, being promoted by several partners, available on digital platforms, CD and vinyl.

The musician seeks to create a catalog with artistic quality, with no concern for the commercial market. However, it breaks geographic barriers and disseminates his music to many countries.

“With quality music, we can conquer space in several places in the world at the same time,” he says.

The title “Sebastiana” pays homage to Jackson do Pandeiro, a Brazilian artist, in the 35th anniversary of his death, inserting excerpts from his voice in two tracks.

The cover and graphic illustration elements reproduce “Carnival”, an oil painting of the Brazilian modernist painter Emiliano di Cavalcanti.

The repertoire was conceived four-handed by Ricardo Bacelar and Cesar Lemos. The album has five unpublished songs, in a set of fifteen recordings. Two of them were composed by Ricardo with Cesar Lemos (“Suco Verde” (“Green Juice”) and “Sernambetiba”, 1992).

The album “Sebastiana” presents works by Brazilian composers: Luiz Gonzaga, Gilberto Gil, Lô Borges, Villa-Lobos, Milton Nascimento, and Ronaldo Bastos, Tom Jobim and Vinicius de Moraes, Ivan Lins and Victor Martins, Flora Purim and Luiz Roberto Bertrami.

Ricardo Bacelar wrote the arrangements, carried out the schedules with Cesar Lemos, recorded the acoustic piano, Hammond organ, synthesizers and sang the track “Oh Mana Deixa Eu Ir”(“Oh Sis Let me Go”).

He searched for Latin music exponents in Miami for the recording of the album…

Ricardo Bacelar ́s first solo album, “In Natura”, is intimate and shows unpublished compositions at the piano, with participations and classical music influences.

The second one, “Concerto para Moviola” (Concerto for Moviola), is a live album, recorded at a jazz festival, with an eight-member band, presenting a jazz fusion and Brazilian music repertoire. It was released in 2016 in Brazil and in the United States, on CD, digital, DVD, and vinyl, obtaining a highly significant performance in the American jazz radios, with several reviews in important vehicles in the American press of the segment.

Ricardo Bacelar joined a band in Brazil, called Hanoi Hanoi, in the 80s and 90s, with wide commercial success, whose repertoire was recorded by important Brazilian artists such as Caetano Veloso and Gilberto Gil.

Polyvalent in arts and science, Ricardo is a lawyer and a fierce copyright defender. He organized and launched in 2017, in Brazil, the book “Contemporary Themes of Intellectual Property”, a collection of articles with the most important Brazilian authorities in copyright and other branches of the subject…

Two-time GRAMMY® Award-nominated multi-platinum and chart-topping singer/songwriter Camila Cabello shares the video for single ‘Liar.’

‘Liar’ is one of two new songs (‘Shameless’, ‘Liar’) which start the era of her mega-anticipated second album, Romance.

It represents her most personal music to date, drawing directly from autobiographical experiences and translating them into unforgettable songs.

“These songs are basically the story of my life the past couple years and the stories I’ve accumulated – I knew for a long time I wanted my album to be called Romance because these stories are about falling in love.”

– Camila Cabello.

The songs similarly mirror this evolution. Swaggering horns kick off the boisterous and bold “Liar” as it channels Latin vibes underneath the irresistible hook, “Oh no, there you go, making me a liar, I kinda like it though.”

Camila’s full-length debut, Camila, soared to #1 on iTunes in 109 markets. It also went Top 5 in 113 markets and Top 10 in 115 markets. Not to mention, it ascended to #1 worldwide in Canada, Mexico, Spain, Sweden, Norway, and the Netherlands and to the Top 3 in the UK, Finland, Australia, Ireland, Belgium, and Switzerland.

To date, her cumulative audio streams exceed 8.8 billion and video views surpass 3.5 billion.

I began my career in The Zombies. We were together for two albums, our last release being Odessey & Oracle which has been praised a lot over recent years after being ignored upon release.

With The Zombies I was inducted into The Rock and Roll Hall of Fame earlier this year, which will probably remain as the highest recognition we will achieve.

After The Zombies, I produced Argent (with Rod Argent) and wrote the hit Hold Your Head Up. Other albums I particularly enjoyed working on were for Colin Blunstone (One Year, Ennismore, Journey) and Matthew Fisher (Strange Days).

In March of this year (2019) The Zombies were inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in a British invasion alongside Radiohead and The Cure.

On stage with Rod Argent, Hugh Grundy and Colin Blunstone was Chris White; the man who co-produced and wrote more than half of the seminal Odessey & Oracle album, who composed (the now standard) This Will Be Our Year and who penned and co-produced the worldwide hit Hold Your Head Up for Argent.

His acceptance speech from the night, widely quoted in Rolling Stone, beautifully summarized the golden age of recording: “Music and songs are the bookmarks in all our lives; it’s the language that binds us all together”.

The Chris White Experience is an incredible collection of unreleased recordings from the last 50 years.

After The Zombies, Chris White co-produced albums for both Colin Blunstone (including Say You Don’t Mind) and Argent (including God Gave Rock And Roll To You).

The popularity of his songwriting has been celebrated by diverse artists (Beck, Paul Weller, Tom Petty, The Foo Fighters) recorded in a number of languages, and reached number one worldwide (Japan, Europe, and America).

Yet much of his work from 1976 onwards has remained elusive. This collection of demos, co-writes, and unreleased gems is the second in a planned series detailing his work as a songwriter between 1976 – 2019.

Most of these songs have never been heard, genuinely unreleased until now, which is exciting considering the caliber of talent involved.

With collaborations and contributions featuring Tim Renwick (Pink Floyd, Eric Clapton, Elton John) Rod Argent and Colin Blunstone (The Zombies) Kevin Finn and Eve Graham (New Seekers) Jim Rodford (The Kinks, Argent) Stuart Elliott (Cockney Rebel, Kate Bush) and many more.

Following on from the acclaimed Volume One, it is a brilliant and vital document in the history of British music and analogue recording.

The Chris White Experience – Volume Two features 13 tracks to showcase more of his considerable songwriting catalog, with so much beyond to discover.

We don’t spend a lot on promotion, but do send digital promos out when we release a new album. Aside from the usual social media channels, I am fortunate enough to receive a small natural boost from being in The Zombies and am currently on tour with them and Brian Wilson in America.

Olivia Gray unveils an eye-catching video for the single “Rhythm of your Love” taken from her new album “Release my Soul.”

Olivia has come a long way in her musical career with 12 albums, two in Spanish, two in Swiss-German and three albums with children’s songs.

Amongst her greatest hits are “Raining in my heart,” “In the morning light,” “Nobody wants to be lonely”, “Te Quiero” and “Es Bitzeli Liebi” which has sold over 40’000 copies.

Famous artists such as Milva, Francesco Napoli, Paco Aguilera, and Los Bravos – who had a worldwide hit in the sixties with “Black is Black” – have recorded her songs. This shows the greatness of Olivia’s songwriting talent.

She wrote all the songs except for “Black is Black” on the new album of Los Bravos and also sang two duets with lead singer Mike Kennedy.

Olivia proved herself as a live artist in her charismatic appearances at some world’s leading Song-Festivals such as in Japan, Korea, Ireland and Chile where she performed…

The audience will cherish her variety of styles. She has achieved remarkable success in Spain and Latin America. This coupled with the fact that Spain is Olivia’s second residence and explains her affinity to the language and Latin influences.

Olivia recorded her two new albums, one in English and one in Spanish with producer Xavi Puit in Spain. The singles “Te Quiero,” a catchy Latin-pop song with hot guitar riffs a la Carlos Santana, and “Mueve Mueve,” a very danceable mixture of Latin and Reggaeton, are both refreshing and full of the joy of life and Latin temperament.

The followed up power ballad “Tu Amor Esta en Mi” evokes feelings, emotions, longing and ardent desire…

Integrating her great passion (dancing and painting) adds value to the audiovisual portrait.

Versatility, originality, imaginative arrangements, captivating songs, and a personal distinctive voice are some distinctive characteristics of singer-songwriter Olivia Gray.

Her emotional personality, her authentic songwriting, and interpretation, according to their lyrics and moods – light-hearted, sensuous, seductive and vulnerable–touch inspire her listeners.

Olivia is the producer of the new songs in this latest album.
