I develop my sound and style to reflect my story and my experiences. My story and experiences are what make me different from other musicians. My story is unique.

I think that it is a fun time to be an artist and a consumer. I like how songs can be released frequently; it makes them enjoyable for the consumer.

My experience as a musician ranges from live performances to studio performances. I also edit most of my music videos in addition to recording, mixing, and mastering. I am fully engaged in a project from start to finish.

I like streaming and digital downloading of songs because it is easy for consumers to access your music. Streaming and digital downloading are very convenient for the listener.
Tell us how you see yourself in the coming time as a musician.
In the coming times, I see myself as an artist from the future who was sent to relay a message.

I presently favor Kendrick Lamar, ASAP Rocky, Erykah Badu, and Outkast.

My dreams and hopes for the future are to travel the world while performing and making music that enables people to free their minds. I want to inspire people through my music and also tackle the plastic issue in the world.
Tell us what you think has changed in the music industry.
I think the way music is released has recently changed in the music industry. The sound of music will always change and evolve.
Tell us your opinion on TV and radio stations playing the same songs from established artists mostly and giving little chances to independent artists.
I would like for TV and radio stations to play more indie music. Playing more indie music would be good for the consumers because there is a lot of amazing indie music that has not been heard.
Tell us the challenges you think independent artists are facing and how they can be tackled.
One of my challenges as an indie artist is promotion. I am constantly searching for new and creative ways to market and promote my brand. Having a manager or publisher would help me out tremendously.

I think that corruption affects all societies all across the world. I believe that corruption can be eradicated by having good role models and honorable public figures that make a change in the world.

I like using social media to market my songs. I think social media is one of the best methods; especially if you have good visual content.

I started out as a musician by recording artists in my friend’s band. I then found love for the microphone and songwriting.

Breaking free of the rat race and inspiring people is what motivates me to go on with my music career.


Tell us about you as a person.
As a person, I am fun and goofy with a stellar work ethic. I now know that life is super short and we have a limited time to really make a difference. I am using every moment wisely now.
Elaborate on the story behind the song.
The story behind the song “Wife” started in Birmingham, Alabama. I bought the instrumental from a Birmingham producer named Kay-1. My fiancée Moco came to town from NYC and recorded her vocals for the bridge. I was able to lay the chorus down in a few takes with no issues. That song was not written; I just had a few ideas in my head during the time of the recording.


Tell us the process involved in making this song.
Nowadays the process for recording songs usually starts with me freestyling random words and sounds to develop a nice flow. After I think of a good concept, I will then start filling in the random words and sounds with lyrics. I am usually able to write 8-12 bars in my head at a time.

Monica Woods (Moco) and Kiki James Thomas (Kay-1) deserve to be given credit for the creation of the song.


Tell us how you get funds to run your music career.
I get funds for my music career with my day job. I am almost to a point in my music career where I will be making money back from my art, which is a beautiful feeling.
Tell us the genre of your music and the reason you decided to go for this genre.
I chose Hip-Hop music because it spoke to me the loudest and it is very influential.


Tell us if you prefer to write your own songs or you prefer to write with professional songwriters.
I personally prefer to write my own songs because only I can tell my story.

I prefer to work with reputable producers. Kay-1 has been my favorite producer to work with.
