At age 25, Boston native J. Lye, is one of the newest rappers to make waves in the Boston underground music scene. Mentored by Boston rapper, Kabir Sen, J. Lye began writing at just 13, and by the age of 15 was recording his own music. J. Lye has been featured on popular music blogs such as, YouHeardThatNew.com and Goodmusicallday.com. He has also been called Boston’s “HOTTEST new artist and the next Drake” by the well-respected hip-hop site Rapgenius.com.
In 2011, J. Lye came in first place at the “Sounds of The Underground” competition beating out nationwide acts such as AER, only months before releasing his debut mixtape “Compete Until Success”. In 2013, J. Lye continued his success by winning KarmaloopTV’s “Best Underground Musician” contest.
