Yung Profit- “Harvey”

Tell us your real name, country of birth, date of birth and childhood experience.

My real name is Desmond Clark and I was born in Houston, Texas on August 22nd, 1993. I grew up around a very rough neighborhood called Yellowstone Projects. I use to play basketball, but I gave that up and got more involved in the streets and music.

Tell us about your music career, your band name, musical background, experience and skills.

My career has been moving. I’m still independent and working very hard on a solid catalog. I’m thinking about releasing a EP by winter time. I mainly have been perfecting my craft and meeting new people to gain more exposure. Now, I’m being interviewed by Broadtube Music, which is blessing! I rap and sing, so that’s a high skill that I value.

Tell us about your genre, concept and idea behind your music video and the song.

The genre is Rap, but if you love music then you’ll look past the categories of music and feel the words and pain in my voice. Harvey was a song I had in my head for about a year, but I never recorded it until the hurricane hit Texas. The concept in the video is built off a dark and deep feeling of tragedy in a major city. I had a few news clips added into the video to give it the real life appeal. Everything is 100% real.

Tell us everything that we need to know about you as a musician and the ups and downs you have faced in the music business.

When it comes to Yung Profit as a artist, I’m very laid back and observant. I love meeting people, hanging with my family and recording music. I want to be more than just a one hit wonder in the game. I want to be remembered as one of the best to do it and I wont stop until I get that goal. So when you mention ups and downs in the music business. I would say the downs are being fully discovered and getting my music to millions instead of thousands. The game now a days is built more for politics and popularity, other than talent in my opinion.

Tell us about other members of your band, music producer, crew or music video director, how the song was recorded and how the music video was shot.

Well in a solo artist, but I’m a member of group called HV28. I’m starting my own label called For Eva Real Music. I work with a few producers and I’m always open to work with more.

The melody for the chorus Harvey was in my head for like a year. I never recorded, until the hurricane hit. Once I seen my people around the city and the south go through the storm, the first thing that popped in my head was “When it rains, when it pours, when storms, when it thunders” lol.. It means more than just the weather, that line I just mentioned means hardships and pain that you’re going through currently or day to day.

The video was shot by Swank from Anchor Life Films. Keith from INR set me up with him and its been a great relationship ever since we linked up. We literally shot the video 3 days after Harvey was gone. It could have been sooner if the flood wasnt as bad, but we made it happen. We have more projects coming that we haven’t released yet so stay tuned.

Tell us how long you have been in the music industry, your experience and your future goal.

I been in the business since I was 7 years old. My Dad is friends with a lot of big name artist in Houston like Big Pokey, Big Moe when he was alive and most of the Rap-A Lot artist from Houston. So I been in-tune with music at a early age. I just want to speak to the world and show off my talent. I want to be considered a great in the music game and to be able to feed my family off music. I also want to be a Owner and discover talent like J. Prince from Rap-A-Lot.

Tell us what inspires you to write, compose and sing.

Just day to day struggles and people I meet. Things I read, things I see and in-counter. Nothing is fake about what I write and rap about. It’s all real life experiences.

Tell us the secret behind making a hit song.

Either you got it or you don’t!

Tell us the message you will like to pass to your fans out there.

I appreciate the support from you all, and to my new fans soon to be. I will always bring that feel good music you’re looking for.

Tell the kind of advice you will give to an upcoming artist.

Anything is possible with the right attitude and team behind you. You have to be self driven. Just like my new single that’s coming out soon “Who say that dreams don’t come true, Its all on me, what what I do”

Elaborate on your music careers, albums, songs, tours, recognition or awards you might have obtained.

We are working on the EP right now. I have about 100 songs recorded, I’m just trying to see how I want to present them. Currently I’m just releasing some material to the world to create a buzz, before I hit y’all with my secret weapons.

List Radio or TV Stations that are airing your songs and blogs that have featured you as well and send message to them via this platform.

Harvey was featured on blogs and social platforms on a big radio station called 97.9 the box. My team and I are working on picking a single to be released on a few mix-tape’s that DJ’s want me apart of. We have a few things moving, but always open to more.

Tell us how you write your lyrics, compose, sing and record in the studio.

I can come up with lyrics anywhere. I don’t like a lot of people in the studio when I’m recording, because I don’t like anyone or myself to be distracted. I take my music very seriously, so If I’m not feeling it then I’m not leaving or releasing it until its right.

Name five biggest artists that you look up to like idols.

Jay-Z, Kevin Gates, Boosie Bad Azz, Tupac and Z-Ro.

Name the artists you have collaborated with before in your songs or artists you are willing to collaborate with in the future if you have the chance to do so.

My most recent collab is with Yung Al and DeeMoe Trill. They are artists from my clique called HV28. Both have names in the city. I ran into J-Dawg at a show i was performing at in Louisiana, so I want to work with him when we can get time.

I’m willing to work with any artist in the game that believes in my music. No matter the genre. I sing and rap so, I’m open for whatever.
