Cody Joe Hodges — Roll That Way

Cody Joe Hodges’ music  has been described as “real country”, influenced by some of the country greats from the late 70’s and 80’s – George Strait, Merle Haggard, Johnny Cash, Waylon Jennings, and Willie Nelson (just to name a few). With his thrilling, high-energy performance, it is rare that you will find someone that reaches across the aisle to both the old and new generations, but Cody Joe Hodges does it every time.  Cody Joe Hodges’ voice ranges from silky smooth to raspy seduction.  Cody Joe’s sound is something out of the past, and his writing style of the here and now.

Cody Joe Hodges started playing music at an early age, but it wasn’t until his senior year in high school that he became serious about his art.  Cody Joe wrote his first song, “Daddy’s Dream”, his freshman year, while living in the dorms at Texas A&M University.

Not long after graduating from Texas A&M in 2006, the young talent spent a short stay in Nashville.  Afterwards, deciding to “get away from music” and move back to Texas and join the Army.

While in the Army, (duty station, Fort Carson), he was playing music on a street corner in Colorado Springs with a homeless man, when he was discovered by an Army affiliate.   He was then asked to audition for the group “Harmony in Motion,” a vocal ensemble based out of Fort Carson, Colorado.  After auditioning, they extended an offer to join them, and Cody Joe began traveling across America playing for large entertainment venues.

Upon discharge, his dad had a talk with him about a career in the power line business as a lineman. This sounded like something exciting and also a great opportunity to draw upon for songwriting, so he joined the energy field in 2010.  At the same time, he started a band called “The Linemen”, and released his first album in 2012.

In the spring of 2013, Cody Joe decided to exit out of the power line business and focus energy on his music as a solo artist, along with whatever plans God had for him.  It has been a blessing thus far.  With his first recording contract signed in Dec. ’13.  Cody Joe Hodges released “The Good Stuff” album through an Oklahoma based record label, Tate Music Group, in November 2014.

In 2014, Cody Joe teamed up with Lamon Records, a Sony independent label out of Nashville, to record a four song EP entitled “One More Drink”.  After successfully gaining airplay and chart status with his singles, he decided to release his first Christmas album, “Down Home Christmas”.  The Christmas album was released in Oct 2016 and has 5 traditional country songs and 3 originals.

Cody Joe lives life on the road, constantly touring and trying to get his music heard.  He also knows the road to Nashville well. He takes that road every other month from Texas to write songs and network amongst the industry community on Music Row.  From humble beginnings, Cody Joe Hodges brings the drive and determination to attain National results.

BREEZE (Grynd Seazon) – MOCEAN – The Band of the Hawk

The Band of the Hawk, the musical company known as DEF on the battlefield. Also known as the BOHUP Crew (BAND OF THE HAWK UNDERGROUND PYRAMID CREW). The Band of the Hawk rose from the ashes of a former clique, H.TX. H.TX productions were a spacious affair: all looped menace and blunted minutiae, not unlike early RZA productions if Mr. Diggs had been raised in Houston’s Fifth Ward worshipping 90’s hood flicks more than kung fu cinema and stuck in a Mario Brothers maze. These early efforts have since been re-absorbed, shoving way towards the Hawks’ penchants for texture over bombast, interpretation over definition. The current line-up of the Hawks: Noah Archangel, King (Yeaux Majesrty), Ash Ra, P.Ey3 (Sage Majesty), Grynd Seazon and Juskwam – succeeds in meeting the audience’s current expectation from a hip-hop group. Each personality is equally present and distinguishable from track to track, regardless of preferred artistic attack. Whether Noah raps or produces, or King spits coolness on the mic first or last, listeners know the unmistakable stew that is the Band of the Hawk.

CatherineDuc Paloma Rush – Drive

Catherine Duc is a Vietnamese-Australian composer and producer of music blending elements of ambient, classical, electronica and world music. Her work has been aired on Australian Broadcasting Corporation’s ABC Jazz. In 2005 Duc issued her debut album, Visions and Dreams.

Catherine Duc was born in Melbourne. She started her musical journey from a young age. As a child, Duc studied keyboard and classical piano and later completed studies in music arrangement, live recording and production at the Alfred Brash Sound House in the Melbourne Concert Hall. She also has a Diploma in Film Music Composition from The London School of Creative Studies. Her work has been aired on Australian Broadcasting Corporation’s ABC Jazz. In July 2005 Duc issued her debut album, Visions and Dreams, and the following year she supplied keyboards for Priscilla Hernández’ album, Ancient Shadows.

In October 2012 Duc released her latest single, “Single Glance”, which was produced by Stuart Epps (Elton John, Robbie Williams). In an interview with Vents Magazine she revealed that she was finishing work on her second album and that the album has a lot more Celtic influences compared to her previous album, with a greater focus on live instruments (ranging from acoustic and electric guitars to mandolins, Irish flutes and bagpipes).

In 2015 she signed a record deal for her album “Voyager” with UK based label MG Music (owned by New Age composer and musician Medwyn Goodall and received a Grammy nomination for ‘Best New Age Album’.

In 2016 Duc remixed The Corrs’ song “Intimacy” which was released through Warner Music UK.

Duc’s music is a blend of Celtic and world melodies with contemporary electronica rhythms and atmospheric soundscapes. Anna Kosmanovski of Mediasearch described her style as “neo classical” and “Celtic, mystical sounding electronic, has none of the lullaby substance of ordinary classical music”.

Sarah Walk – Little Black Book

“Unfiltered and utterly beautiful”
The Sunday Times

“Walk voices her emotional turmoil perfectly.”

“…deeply moving and bittersweet, with uplifting bouts of melodic brilliance and gorgeous interplay between strings and cathedral-echo piano. It’s lush and oozes a classic charm; it’s timeless.”
Line of Best Fit

“Those who’ve had the privilege of watching her play live alongside her band can testify to Walk’s phenomenal skills on the keys and powerful vocals”

“…haunting and emotive”

“Brooding vocal delivery that recalls Feist”
The Sunday Times (Breaking Act)

“The Minneapolis singer’s songs are big, soaring things that deal in similarly hefty issues (heartbreak, loss, drugs) – but it’s Walk’s fierce yet soulful delivery that lands the decisive blow.”
Red Bull Music

“A visceral, poignant work”
Clash Magazine

“Blew my mind when I heard it…beautiful and compelling. One to watch.”
Lauren Laverne, BBC6 Music

Sarah Walk today shares angsty title track from her forthcoming debut album; ‘Little Black Book’. The brutally honest track summarises the themes of the album, which is set for release on 24th November on One Little Indian Records.

In Sarah’s words: “The Little Black Book – where my words and writing are created and stored – is a symbol for my heart and a failing relationship, where one of them is thriving while the other one is falling apart. Little Black Book is a song about a a relationship that isn’t working and the inevitable presence that takes into my songwriting and music. It’s my favourite song to play live.”

Walk deals in songs that are as confessional as they are swathed in emotion, and her brand new single, taken from her forthcoming debut album, truly illuminates Walk’s distinct androgynous vocal and her unique ability to emote – to express a level of musical maturity rarely found in an artist so young.

Cat Power, Feist, Sharon Van Etten, Bat for Lashes – just a few of the incredible and trailblazing artists the young pianist and singer has been compared to by the media and fans alike. The rising Minneapolis singer-songwriter has yet to even release her debut album and her extraordinary talent has won her praise from Lauren Laverne (BBC6 Music), Line of Best Fit, Wonderland, The Sunday Times, Metro, Clash and a daytime playlist spot on Virgin Radio, with previous singles Still Frames, Keep on Dreaming and Wake Me Up.

Signed to One Little Indian, Walk emerged in 2016 with a storm in her fingers and a burning fire in her heart. She writes songs with soaring melodies – the perfect foil to her intimate lyrics exploring the eternal themes of heartbreak and loss.

Having toured with Laura Mvula and appeared at Dot-to-Dot Festival, showcasing her songs to the public for the very first time, 2016 proved a busy year for Sarah Walk. Those audiences will have had the privilege of hearing the incendiary interplay between Sarah and her band. A key part of her creative process, Walk’s live band breathes life into her storming crescendos and tender devotionals, pushing her beautiful songs to greater heights.

A graduate of Berklee College of Music (alumni includes St Vincent among others), Sarah grew up in Minneapolis but has spent much of the last year living between Los Angeles and West London, working on her debut album with Steve Brown (Laura Mvula Sing to the Moon). “I didn’t like that the weather was the same every single day in LA: always sunny and comfortable,” notes Sarah. “That’s probably the artist in me, but I like waking up and not knowing what the weather will be…”
