Ann May – The Dark Side

Ann May grew up among the vast pastures in the north of the Netherlands. She loved nature, space and freedom and was almost always to be found outside. The music she writes comes straight from her heart and is inspired by life itself.

Her debut album ‘Genuine’ is a translation of who she is as a person driven by her passionate music. The first single: “The Dark Side ” draws the duality of the human brain and the possibilities it can create.

The second single “World of Silence” describes our World full of lies, in need of silence to balance it all out.

Her music can best be described as ‘Rockpop’ with personal lyrics and slight Goth and Symphonic influences.

Her live band consists of drums, keys, bass, rhythm and solo guitars.

Deep Parliament – Down to Whatever

Not much is known about Deep Parliament’s personal life. Started early in the music industry as a producer, has written and produced many tracks around the globe, with diverse talented vocalists like Shena and Naomi Azran. His beats can be heard in the international club scene.

“Blues music has always been a big component of my life, always will” stated Deep Parliament online when asked about his/her inspirations. Deep Parliament’s soft-passed cheerful sets are mostly inspired by old school house beats.

Deep Parliament’s infectious tracks and love for music makes each song a pleasant dancing experience.

Naomi Azran was born in January 13th, 1992. She debuted as a dancer in Studio Harmonic at the Bastille in Paris but later stopped to launch herself as a singer. Together with the girl band “Every Crew”, Naomi toured across France and participated in diverse music competitions as ZicMeUp, Emergenza Festival, Bataclan Scene, Bastille Scene, Alhambra and many others. They achieved together chart positions in Belgium and France. Naomi later impressed the judges at the “Rising Star”, a reality singing competition which was broadcast in 2016 and since then started her solo career.

Leena Ojala – My World

Indie electronica artist Leena Ojala combines dark lyrics with 80s-infused vibes and big melodies to create a sound that’s at once haunting, ethereal and captivating.

Born in Germany to an English mother and a Finnish father, Leena spent her childhood in Hong Kong and then Essex; a cultural upbringing that would later prove a sublime influence on her artistic persona. Aged 17, Leena moved to London to immerse herself in music. Inspired by strong female vocalists including Stevie Nicks, Kate Bush, London Grammar and Amy Winehouse, she took her time experimenting with her sound. It was an exciting exploratory phase that laid the foundations for the tracks that would soon follow.

After her time in the capital, Leena relocated to Berlin – a city renowned for its anarchic creativity – where she spent a number of months gathering new influences and traversing the city’s eclectic music scene. On returning to London, she went straight into the studio to hone her own unique sound. Leena’s first offering, the critically acclaimed EP1 released in November 2015, was the spine-tingling result.

Since then, Leena has worked with the likes of D/R/U/G/S, Benbrick, Forte, Saturday/Monday, DJ Sweap and DJ Doobious releasing more material. Her music has been covered by the likes of The 405, The Fader, Clash Music, Idol Magazine, Atwood Magazine, the Unsigned Guide and many others.

Fenix began his career in 2004 playing in the Moscow club scene, where he sharpened his skills as a DJ before leveraging his talents to solidify a collaboration with renowned UK dance duo, Supafly, which led to recording and subsequently releasing his first international single, “I Believe” in 2007. The video quickly broke into mainstream chart success and radio rotation in the U.S., Australia, Germany and the UK. “I Believe” helped cement Fenix’s ascent as a rising star in Russia’s EDM scene, opening the door to performance bookings in some of Europe’s most renowned venues and events. Fenix’s steadily growing profile and body of work earned him a “Best DJ” accolade from the Music Entertainment Awards in 2012. That same year, Cosmopolitan (Russia) lauded Fenix as the “Russia’s Most Eligible Bachelor.”  Fenix resumed a heavy touring schedule for the next few years to continue building his profile in the international EDM scene throughout Europe. Every performance was an opportunity to build increased momentum and awareness, resulting in the artist sharing the stage with industry elites such as, David Guetta, Bob Sinclar and many more.

In November 2014, Fenix was given the honour of being the first EDM artist to ever play a live performance in the Kremlin, Russia’s main house of government, as the opening act to the 2014 Musicbox Awards. Aside from the unprecedented and historic opportunity to perform for attendees that evening, Fenix walked away with another “Best DJ” award recognizing his success in the genre through the years. Fenix made his official debut in the U.S. leading up to the release of his first stateside single, “Cosmo Zoo.” Prior to the record’s launch, the artist built heavy buzz around the track through a performance tour in NYC throughout January 2015.  “Cosmo Zoo” officially dropped on February 16, 2015 topping at #11 on the Beatport Progressive House charts. Fenix followed the single up with the release of “Eternity” in April 2015 and “The Voice of the Earth” in August 2015.

In April, 2016, Fenix released “Satellite” featuring RCA recording artist, Frankie worldwide. The track, which was Fenix’s second single release on Carrillo Music, was instantly propelled into heavy rotation on Y100 Miami, the city’s #1 Top 40 FM station. The artist capitalized on the momentum from his latest official single with an unofficial remix of Justin Timberlake’s “Can’t Stop the Feeling,” which ended up trending at #1 on New York’s top dance music station, 103.5 KTU, for three weeks in a row via Sean “Hollywood” Hamilton’s Remix Top 30 countdown.

Fenix kicked off March, 2017 with the release of his latest single, “All Around the World” ft. Chris Casino on Spotify, iTunes and Beatport. That same month, Fenix garnered recognition at the 2nd annual 2017 Remix Awards taking place as part of 2017 Miami Music Week, and produced by iHeartRadio’s Remix Top 30, Digital Music Pool, and hosted by “Hollywood” Hamilton. During the ceremony, which took place at the iHeartRadio Music Lounge in South Beach’s W Hotel & Residences, he received nominations for “Remix of the Year” as well as “Best Bootleg” for his “Can’t Stop the Feeling” remix – taking home an award for the latter category.

With its power ballad ‘Apollo’, Timebelle represented Switzerland at the 2017 Eurovision Song Contest in Kiev, Ukraine. The band is named after the famous Swiss landmark. But Timebelle is also a tribute to a ‘beautiful time’ in Berne, where the band was formed.

As the perfect trio, the three band members performed from the heart in Kiev:

As a trained musician and dedicated actress, lead singer Miruna Manescu from Romania always expresses her passion for art. She is also an avowed chocolate lover.

Emanuel Daniel Andriescu plays the piano, but also teaches saxophone and clarinet. The internationally active musician has been living in Switzerland for ten years. He achieves his goals with a great deal of charm.

The third member is drummer Samuel Forster. The dedicated Swiss-born musician pursues his professional visions with boundless energy and a talent for organization.

With the song ‘Apollo’ and its distinctive melody, the three creative souls express their hopes and dreams while asking themselves whether there is such a thing as eternal youth.

Ghost Caravan – Damn You

Ghost Caravan is a group of collaborators lead by Shaina Silver-Baird. Her “ghosts” are what inform the music that she writes. Whether they are the ghosts of specific people, the ghosts of past loves or the ghosts of experience, this caravan of ghosts is the origin of her songs. “My music is still about dark places, but I focus on finding the light, the moment when you realize your own strength and ability to move forward. I want to be proud to share my songs with young women. There are so many voices in the world telling women how to think and feel about themselves. I want to be the voice that celebrates women. I want to empower and uplift people.” On her recently released record T.O. Confidential, Shaina Silver-Baird collaborated with members of the Weeknd, Grand Analog, Hill Kourkoutis of the Launch, Martha and the Muffins, the Four On The Floor String Quartet and many others. “There were so many amazing artists who collaborated on this project. It felt like a whole village came together to make this record and I’m so grateful to that community. I love creating music with other people. The end result is so much better because of the many points of view, different opinions and experiences that are woven into each song.” The music itself is orchestral soultronica. The Ghost Caravan live show mixes electronic elements with live instruments creating a sound that is cinematic and invigorating. “I want to continue to push in the direction of personal/poetic lyrics coupled with grand, dramatic tracks. I want to develop the soulful core along with the orchestral element. It’s such an exciting sound – very contemporary and yet derived from something deeper and older. I love how celebratory it is. It’s as if we get to see the world through glasses that make the colours a bit more vibrant and the moments a bit more joyous. And getting to play these songs live with an all-female band is an exciting, powerful experience. Plus, it’s just so damn fun!”

Tell us your real names, country of birth and childhood experience.

My real name is Shaina Silver-Baird and I was born and raised in Toronto, Ontario, Canada. I grew up on a steady diet of jazz, soul and folk music and my parents taught and performed traditional Balkan folk dance, so I was always around dance, music, art and unusual sounds and rhythms. I began singing at my Bat Mitzvah because my coach was also a professional singer and I imitated her technique. She encouraged my parents to get me lessons and so it all began. I started doing musical theatre as a teenager which led me to get a BFA in Theatre performance from York University. While I was there I dated a composer and watching him work I realised… wow I think I can write music too. I wrote my first song and haven’t stopped since.

Tell us your genre and idea behind your music video/song.

The genre is orchestral, electronic soul. We mix soulful melodies and lyrics with elements of electronic pop and orchestral instruments with a focus on strings. With the video we wanted to capture the song’s cheeky sense of abandon and fun in an organic way while keeping our female musicians as the centre focus. By creating a documentary style environment, we allowed for an honest image of both Shaina’s and Odario’s (guest performer) personalities to shine through. This behind-the-scenes look really captured the energy that “Damn You” inspires; the dance party you see in the video was exactly what we experienced on the day – it was extraordinary and wonderful to capture the atmosphere of the band, the crowd and the song all at once.

Explain the story behind the song.

With “Damn You” I set out to write a deep, sad and heartfelt love ballad and failed miserably. My real life relationship was going too well for that and I was stuck in writer’s block. So instead I wrote about my own situation. “Damn You” is about being in love with someone who knows you too well and makes you too happy to let you stew, self-sabotage or write a sad song.

Tell us how long you have been in the music business, your experience and your future goal.

I have been in the music business professionally for the past 6 years as a singer/actor and as a singer/songwriter/band leader for folk band Crooked House Road before Ghost Caravan. Future goals include touring the world to play major festivals.

Tell us what makes you unique from others.

When I started the project I was so focused on being dark, showing my heartbreak and pain in order to be a “real artist.” But, I started to realize we don’t actually need more of that in the world. We need to be uplifted. We need to be able to access our murky depths, but we don’t need to stew in them. I want to empower people. I want to make them dance and make them smile. So my music is still about those dark places, but I focus on finding the light in them and celebrating the magic in the world. I’m focused not on the moment of despair, but the moment right after, the realization of your own strength and beauty and ability to move forward. Loving when it is hard… that’s heroic. That’s what I want to represent in my music. Ghost Caravan is the music you turn up with girlfriends before a night on the town, the music you make love to, the music for the highs and lows of life. I especially want to be proud to share any of my songs with a young woman or girl. I want every message to be one I want them to hear. There are so many voices in the world telling women how they should think and feel about themselves. I want the voice I’m putting out there to celebrate women and lift them up. Ghost Caravan songs are an explosion of celebration: of the feminine, of joy, of strength.
