State your reason for choosing music as a career.
It’s my passion. The time I feel most alive is when I’m creating and performing music.
Tell us how you write the lyrics to your song.
I usually have the melody and lyrics hit me randomly and have to stop and write it down or record using my phone and then continue to work on it.
If I have the instrumental before the song is written, I instantly feel the emotion and mood of the song and start writing off of the emotion the music is giving me.

Discuss your life outside the music world.
I’m in the life coaching industry and love it. Have a fiancé and 2 girls and a loving family.
Discuss your music career.
I’m back and more serious than ever. Creating Afro / Latino and R&B sounds.
Elaborate on your artist’s name.
I was born with it. I am a Nigerian and my name is Igbo and it means “God has won.”
List your favorite music videos with reasons.
‘Womanizer’ and ‘I’m A Slave 4 U’ by Britney Spears. I also like ‘Rhythm Nation’ by Janet Jackson. I’m a sucker for a good dance number.
Tell us your source of inspiration.
Life, love, and music with a message – I like to make people think, especially about consequences.
Tell us your experience of dealing with fans.
I’ve had the best experience with fans. Especially overseas! They are so sweet, supportive, and excited for any new release – It’s been such an amazing feeling.
Elaborate on the recording of this song.
We decided to team up since we have been friends for so long.
I found a Nigerian producer and he had one track out of all his Afrobeat tracks that had this Afro/Latino sound. I had to have it. I reached out to Cuban Diva and the rest was history!
Tell us about your future projects.
“Dinero” will be the next single. It’s more urban sounding with Latin influence.
List the names of those that have supported you so far.
Lindsey & Brent DeKay
My mom, dad, and siblings
And most of Nigeria!
Tell us your point of view on vocal tuning.
I don’t mind it too much as long as the performer can actually sing live.
Tell us your thought on quality and quantity for the release of songs.
I was someone who was more of a fan of quality so it would take me a long time to release music. But now I’m kind of leaning towards quantity.
Releasing as much as possible more frequently without reducing the quality too much – Not every song has to have $1500 production. And I won’t even get into the video fees.
Tell us your viewpoint on comparing a music career to a non-music career.
There is no comparison for me; I have to be successful in both in order to make the other thrive. So I love and do both.
Tell us your opinion on categorizing music into genres and sub-genres.
I think it’s difficult because not every sound is the same, and every sound can’t be categorized.
Some songs are a blend of two sounds and yet we have to find a genre to make the music stores happy.
State the genre you despise most with reason.
None – I love all music and I even write songs for all kinds of music genres even country.
List your favorite movies with reasons.
A Bronx Tale – sweet film on young love
Friday – classic
Half Baked – because of Dave Chappelle!
Romy and Michelle‘s High School Reunion – super girly and fun
The Sound of Music – another classic
Glitter – I have an obsession with Mariah Carey.
State the title of the song and the meaning.
‘Hater’s Anthem’ is about ignoring the negativity and being too busy to put other people down.
A true boss is making moves and uplifting others. A reminder that success is the best revenge.
State the title of the album and the reason for choosing the title.
The upcoming album is “On My Own” and it’s because I’m really doing it alone this time; no production deal, no management, no record label – it’s all me.
