The ClipKingz are a group of five individuals, Jermiside (lessondary), L-Marr the Starr, Giovonni Pratt(GGO), DJ Grain, and Producer Mike Jay.
A collective of members hailing from all regions of the United States of America – Multi-talented in the arts of beats, rhymes, and visuals, these individuals bring old school values with contemporary sounds.
The group was formed in 2015 with the idea of keeping all projects in the house while providing and inspiring artists with an affordable way to create professional visuals.
In 2016, at the urging of Hell Razah (Sunz of Man/Wu-Tang), the Clip Kingz joined forces to create a project he would back under his Label, Hell Razah Music Group, (HRMG).
In a full year’s time, Giovonni Pratt started to lay the groundwork for an E.P titled “Legacy of Kingz”, a seven-track project featuring Tragedy Khadafi, Tiona D (Griselda) among others.

Discuss the story behind your music video.
The story behind the video is based upon three men caught in the middle of nuclear fallout.
We wanted to tell a story using specific key visuals and items to paint the picture.
For example, there is a newspaper clip in the video that speaks about the approval of nuclear testing.

State the name of the locations in your music video.
All of the locations were shot in College Park Georgia. The abandoned road to me was the eeriest and had that horror film feel to it, spooky, especially when you hear things moving through the trees.
The second scene was an abandoned house we found on the side of the road. We took a chance and trespassed to get the shot we needed.
We shot Tiona D’s part in front of an abandoned church, and Jermiside’s part was in front of a graveyard.

List the members of the crew that produced this video and use this opportunity to thank them.
The members that shot this video were Jermiside and Giovonni Pratt… yeah, we are not only the composers of the music we shoot our own videos as well.
We came up with the concept, got together, directed it, and Jerm edited it. Jerm is a hell of an editor.

Explain your emotional state while shooting the music video.
My emotional state at the time was nervous because I wasn’t sure we had enough visuals to tell a story.
Jermiside and I went back and forth trying to gather key items to bring out a story. Every time we felt there wasn’t enough we would push the video back.

Share your press release and reviews with us.
We decided to go in a different direction at this time. We wanted to release the track on YouTube for a few weeks, see how it responds then create a press release. You know, just want to try something different. Reviews haven’t come in yet.

Discuss your music career so far.
Our music career has been blessings. We aren’t on a major platform or signed to a major label, but we have been blessed with having major signed artists believing in us. Tragedy Khadafi, Hellrazah (Wu-Tang) has given us some of the most amazing support.

Tell us if you aspire to go into acting.
I used to be an actor in high school (Giovonni Pratt) but never stuck to it. I honestly couldn’t see the talent in me to be an actor so I abandoned the idea altogether. I am thinking of getting back into it, so in the next few videos, you’ll see my thespian energies at work.

Tell us your gains and losses in the music business.
My gains have been knowledge. I have my own publishing company, I’ve produced an E.P. and worked with BMI and SESAC, and I have grown into an executive artist type of person.
As far as my losses, I’ve taken a lot of “L’s” lost money, time with family, so-called friends, even made a few enemies, but those losses made me a better man today.

List the media that have supported you so far with this song.
Some of the media supporting us right now are Sonic-bids, AnR Factory, Broadtube (that’s you 😀), and a few others. We are grateful and appreciate the love.

Tell us how you manage your time.
I manage my time one day, one hour at a time. With a family I have to “get in where the time fits in” for example, I’ll run my children down and once they go to sleep, I work on music.
Other times I’m at an appointment, that’s never on time, so I used that spare time to jot down ideas.

Tell us how you are able to actualize success in your music career.
To actualize success, you have to first define ‘what’s success in your music career.’ Be honest with yourself, set a realistic goal, write down steps, and follow that blueprint, and don’t give up till it’s complete. That’s how I was able to actualize my success.

Tell us if you an independent artist or you are a signed artist and tell us how you run your music career.
We are independent artists and we fund everything on our own. So we are totally free to drop music as we see fit. We don’t have the same reach as a major, but we are totally comfortable with that.

List the individuals responsible for writing, production, recording, directing, promotion, and marketing of this project.
The Clipkingz are responsible for writing the track (Giovonni Pratt, Jermiside, Lmarr The Starr Reality Check), the ClipKingz directed it, and Anno Domini produced it.

Tell us your experience recording in the studio and shooting the music video.
My experience is like a job. You come in, come on time, and be prepared to work. Make sure your work is ready. Some people want to “be cute.” Come hours late, come looking all fancy… not us we come in their off the streets prepared to work. The same goes for our video work.

Tell us the advice you will give to a new artist planning to shoot a music video.
The advice I would give is: Don’t be afraid to do it. Grab a camera and create. Master editing, trust us it will save you a lot of money. Also understand that you shouldn’t be paying someone thousands of dollars for a video, especially an unsigned independent artist. Be wise with your money!

Tell us the estimate of a commercial music video based on your experience.
The estimate for a commercial video can be in the thousands depending on the amount of work and editing.
Understand that there is a slim chance of seeing any financial returns. This is why it’s important to invest your money wisely!
I recall my first video was 2 thousand dollars I paid out of my pocket. I saw no financial return. I wised up, and brought a professional camera, built a team, and started shooting videos ourselves.

Tell us the reason you shot a video for this song.
Well, we shot a video for this song because it was a strong single. To keep the momentum going we decided to create a visual that told a story to match the mood of the track. To also be honest, this was supposed to be the first video from the E.P., but we didn’t have the vision for it yet.

State your artist’s name and elaborate on it.
My name is Giovonni Pratt one-fifth of the ClipKingz, my first name means “The blessed” while the last is used to signify a rebel’s roots (Geronimo Pratt).

State the title of the song and the meaning.
The name of the track is “Hell on Earth” it means physical and mental hardships in an environment that’s poisoned, and not made for me or you to succeed.

State the title of the album and the reason for choosing the title.
The title of the E.P. is Legacy of Kingz. We chose that name to symbolize our blood, sweat, and tears. Each track was created from our experiences in life, or legacies, our way of life.
