LYRICS:
(Hook)
It’s about time to put y’all on alert lert
Time to get this bread so time to put in work
Cause I’m (illy) Cause I’m (illy) Cause I’m (illy)
Ugh whatcha think hitta

Ready set lets go
Steadily stacken these pesos
Plotting on a big mil
So a hitta had to lay low
Straight up straight up fire man
yo we keepin it lit lit
Stay fresh down to my feet
yo we keepin it yeet yeet
When I hit the scene stay clean with my team
No cap don’t do that that pocket full paper green
Never catch me hanging around with no clowns clowns
Y’all gonna hear this alert when I touch down down (hook)

Doing what I wanna do making them moves
Paying dues acting a fool breaking rules
Repping for my whole crew
Don’t give a damn what you haters think
Point blank making bank
Mad at me cause you whole style stink
My goons are bunch creepas
You can call em reapas
Rollin out this master plan plan just because
Pull up to the table man and we getting our own plate
With hittas who know they role that is what make us great
When I hit the scene stay clean with my team
No cap don’t do that that pocket full paper green
Never catch me hanging around with no clowns clowns
Y’all gonna hear this alert when I touch down down (hook)

Changes in Hip-Hop: In my opinion, hip hop seemed more fun at one point but seems to have been getting darker and darker. Between arrests, deaths and such, it seems to be getting more out of touch with what hip hop was originally for, coming up in life and living it up. I love hip hop and believe it will beat the current dark cloud over it. Just more feel good music has to be pumped into the streets.

Composition: Whenever I hear a track, I try to vibe with it, then I write a catchy hook. Once I write the hook, I go from there and start to write the verses.

Beat: I didn’t make the beat for this track. This was produced by Jay Anthony from ATL.

Recording Experience: I always have fun in the recording studio. I love to be able to create new material and vibe with it along with my recording engineer.

Involvement in Hip-Hop: I got involved in my teenage years after my brother bought some hip hop albums that I got a chance to hear. Just fell in love with it after hearing it.

Gain and Loss: My gain as an artist is that I have met some very extraordinary people and got to be involved in a lot of things that I wouldn’t have been involved in if I weren’t an artist.

Advice: Network, network, network. That is a key strong point in this industry. Go to events, meet people, shake hands and exchange info.

Music Industry: The music industry is and has always been about the business of music. Many may not understand but once you get it, you won’t have a problem being able to move within it.

Future Goal: My future goal as an artist is to become more renowned and be able to have my music pay for my daily living instead of continually investing in it. Create more businesses and jobs from it as well. Stimulate my local economy.

Music Process: I know everyone has their own style of creating music but mine is get produced track, write to produced track, record song, after recording of song, copyright it, get yourself set up for distribution, and then get publishing in place (will need items from your distributor to put down for publishing) and then get press release set for the new record.

Song: This song was called Alert due to the pandemic having us shut down for a couple to few years and me as an artist, I had stepped away from being one so long, it was saying I was putting everyone on alert that I was back. I’m Illy was to say I was fresh and dope. This was intended to push positive energy out to say you can be Illy too. We are also starting a challenge called #whatmakesyouilly #imillychallenge #illychallenge
Song Title and Artist’s Name: For the artist’s name, I got that in school as when I started rapping one of my people said when you rhyme it is aggressive but smooth like cashmere LOL.  I honestly don’t know what made me continue with it except I thought it was cool at the moment and went with it.  As time went on, I started seeing others use the name of Kashmere/Cashmere so I started calling myself Da Kashmere instead of just Kashmere.

Press Release:
Carrying his late father’s legacy through his music, Da Kashmere releases new single and EP, It’s BITTA Baby 2.0 Da Beauty Edition.
The New York native Seraphim Benjamin aka Da Kashmere had an upbringing in South Carolina after migrating to the state with his family. With the move came his introduction with hip hop after stumbling upon old school legends like LL Cool J, Tribe Called Quest and Outkast. Throughout his teens, that love for hip hop grew more passionate with time. Inspired to pick up the pen, his start in the rap game began with poetry that expressed his thoughts.
Inevitably, Da Kashmere advanced to writing and recording his own songs. His 2005 debut song, “Put Em Up Knuck Buck” went on to receive commercial success, landing on both the Billboard Charts and College Music Journal. That milestone was telling of his future in the music industry, but before Da Kashmere could build on the momentum of his buzz, he suffered the tragic loss of his father. Torn about continuing to record music, Da Kashmere stepped away from the mic, indecisive about his career. It took the encouragement of his close brother and CEO, Benni Banxx, to push his return to music after years of his hiatus.
Da Kashmere found his way back to his passion for the craft and began releasing music leading right up to his latest body of work, the 4-trap EP, It’s BITTA Baby 2.0 Da Beauty Edition. The project features model Aneka Rich on the cover artwork and includes the lead single, “Alert (I’m Illy)” that has been a vibe for listeners and fans alike.
It’s clear, Da Kashmere was meant to follow this path, and his father would be proud. Follow the rising artist and stream his latest project.
