Tell us your real names, country of birth, and childhood experience.
My real name is Jesse Karakai, I was born in Victoria, BC, Canada. As a kid I always gravitated towards music, I used it as a form of escape from whatever is going on in my life. I have been playing guitar since I was 9 and started working with my voice and learning how to rap when I was 14.
Tell us your academic qualification.
I graduated high school, barely lol.
Tell us about your music career, band name, musical background, experience, and skills.
I am a rapper/producer that goes by Euphorik. Music has always been a huge part of my life, whether it was my dad playing me old rock records, or my brother introducing me to punk and metal when I was young, music has always been there for me. I started playing music when I was 9 and haven’t stopped since. I have been performing as Euphorik for about 3 years now, doing local shows, opening for big artists, and touring western Canada. As well as rapping, I feel like I am a quite talented producer. I have a good ear for what makes songs stand out.
Tell us about your genre, concept, and idea behind your music video and the song.
I make hip-hop music. I have always been a really passionate person and a strong believer that you can do whatever you want in life and make it work. That’s what this song is about, telling the people around me to chase their dreams, and reminding myself to keep pushing.
Tell us how to run a record label independently and successfully based on your experience as an artist.
Branding and consistency. Firstly, you have to have a solid product and a visual image or representation that people can attach to it. Then you have to stay putting out content often and keep reminding your fans that you are here to stay.
Tell us how you are promoting your music.
I’m promoting my music through Submithub, local blogs, staying consistent on Instagram, Facebook, YouTube, and Snapchat. Messaging people a lot too, sparking a conversation with new people I meet, and seeing if they are interested in hearing my music. Never force music on people, they don’t like that.
Tell us what makes you happy and what makes you sad.
Music, family, friends, and food make me happy. Not being creative or feeling like I’m complacent makes me sad.
Explain clearly the story or concept behind the song.
The song is called “Tides”, in the chorus I say “I can feel the tides changing”. What I mean by this is that for so long I felt like I was getting nowhere with my music but now this year everything is changing. I’m more focused than ever and I know big things are coming in the future.

Tell us about other members of your band, music producer, crew, or music video director, how the song was recorded, and how the music video was shot.
For this song I did everything. I was inspired to make the beat after hearing this song “Bali” by 88Glam, I even named the beat file “Bali”. I already had most of the lyrics written by the time I finished the beat. Then I recorded it all by myself and did the mix and master by myself.
Tell us how long you have been in the music industry, your experience, and your future goal.
I have been in the industry for about 4 years now. I have done well over 100 shows opening up for big names like Hopsin, Token, Masta Ace, etc. My goal for this year is to be making enough money and have enough fans so that music can be my main and only source of income. My 5-year goal is to have millions of fans all over the world be selling out shows, and hear the fans sing all the words to every song at those shows.
Tell us what makes you unique from others.
I feel like no one else raps like me, my flow, my cadence is very unique. And my passion makes me stand out. A lot of rappers act like they’re too cool to even rap, but Nah, I really love this and I’m here to let everyone know that.
Tell us your weakness and strength pertaining to music.
My weakness is definitely self-doubt, but at the same time, my strength is outstanding confidence. It just matters if I’m inspired, so I surround myself with people who push me to do better every day.

Tell us your position on “DIY” Do It Yourself” and signing to a major label.
I have nothing against signing to a major label. I just think artists should build up their own fan base before singing so they can stay relevant and have longevity.
Tell us the instruments put together in this song.
This one’s pretty simple; it’s just drums, an 808, and 2 different synths layered on top of each other.
Tell us other activities you will like to pursue apart from music.
I want to act at some point. I did some acting in high school but nothing for years. Maybe in like 10 years lol.
Tell us about gaining the confidence to sing in front of a large crowd for the first time.
For me, the confidence just came right after I performed for the first time. The feeling was so electrifying that I felt like nothing could stop me, I’ve been addicted ever since.

Very quick actually. Set my computer up in the studio and nailed everything on the first or second take; it only took like 15 minutes.
