Tell us how you develop your sound and style to make it different from other musicians.
All my life I used to listen to different genres and I always tried to create something in each genre. I did everything from reggae to jazz and from EDM to hip hop. I believe a real artist is one who is open to any kind of music genre.
Tell us your opinion on the way new artists are coming up and the frequent release of songs.
I love how much easier it is now for new artists to be heard. Internet and social media really improved a lot and gave a new way for artists to promote their songs without getting signed to a publishing deal. As for the frequency of song releases – I believe it’s good to release as much as possible. But you need to plan your releases and marketing strategies in advance. For example, if you know you can only do 10 songs a year. Plan ahead and strategically think about how you do your releases within that year.
Tell us your experience as a musician.
As for experience… As a music producer, I have worked with big labels like Sony Music, RCA Records, and artists like Jason Derulo, Soulja Boy. As an artist I started writing songs when I was 14, now I am 24 and I still do experiments with my music and try to keep improving my own sound.
Tell us your opinion on streaming and digital download of songs.
As I said before, streaming gave a new way for artists to be heard. I believe streaming is a new big thing right now and it will be that new way of listening to music.
Tell us how you see yourself in the coming time as a musician.
I see myself as an all-the-time improving person because I always try to give a unique sound to my music and I always try to stand out with my own style of music.

Jay wants to help people spread love and their genuine feelings to each other as well as always have faith in better life where everyone is truly caring and loving to each other.
Tell us what you think has changed in the music industry.
One of the important ones – Marketing. That’s what changed. Also now, there’s more freedom with the music. People start to create some unique sounds and it really makes a difference. For example even XXXTENTACION and 6ix9ine. Who would have thought that distorted sound would be this popular?! Yet, those guys are signing million dollars deals. And it’s great!
Tell us your opinion on TV and radio stations playing the same songs from established artists mostly and giving little chances to independent artists.
I really hate radio haha. It’s like a music jail for me. They play a VERY limited amount of music and keep playing the same and same songs overtime every day. I hope more and more people use things like Spotify and Apple Music and discover new artists and educate themselves with new and fresh sounds.
Tell us the challenges you think independent artists are facing and how they can be tackled.
Oversaturation. Too many artists doing the same and same things. Especially in hip-hop. Everyone wants to be new Future or Drake. But no one wants to build slowly and gain their own fan base and get their own sound.

Tell us what you think about using social media to promote music online.
Social Media for me – it’s the #1 promotion tool. I use it to gain more followers for my music, beats, and as well as getting more customers to my BeatStore. I believe nowadays social media is like a digital face of a person.
Tell us about the beginning of your music career.
Jay Urban started making music back in 2009 when he was still a high school student in the city of Kazan in Russia. He opened his own recording studio in his room at his parents’ place where he was recording his and his friends’ songs almost every day.
At the time when he already graduated high school and started going to a local university, Jay Urban had built a stable fan base as a hip-hop artist and a recording engineer and had been performing lots of live-shows on many local events and sometimes even at major city events in addition to selling his albums and mixtapes to his friends and fans of his music.
However, in July 2012 Jay had decided to move to Vancouver, Canada, and start fresh in a foreign country. Here in Vancouver, he has graduated from the British Columbia Institute of Technology as an Aircraft Maintenance Engineer while still trying to pursue his career as an artist and a music producer. Jay has built a new recording/music producing studio where he started making beats and eventually slowly started his work with Sony Music, RCA Records, Soulja Boy, Rich The Kid, Jason Derulo, and many other major and indie labels and musicians. Eventually, Jay became recognizable in a music producer community and built a successful music-producing business. At the same time, Jay Urban started making more songs of his own and decided to pursue his career as a Hip-Hop/R&B artist.
Tell us what still motivates you to go on with your music career.
As I said. I want to inspire people around the world to do what they want to do in life without worrying about being criticized. I want to help people spread the love and their genuine feelings to each other as well as always have faith in better life where everyone is truly caring and loving to each other.
Tell us about you as a person.
I am a very self-aware person and I see myself as a very passionate and kind human. I always try to help people who need help and especially those who ask for it. I think the world would be a much better place if people are more honest and straightforward.

Jay Urban. I just use it because people know me as JayUrbanMusic, a multi-genre music producer so I decided to keep it that way in order to promote my brand.
