Kyera – Passion
Go into detail on why you decided to choose music as a career.
My love of music has always been my passion. I am a musician, songwriter, singer, and vocalist. My unique sound is felt to the depths of people’s souls. I love the effect that being in the zone has on me while composing, singing, or performing and I love the effects I have on others. Everyday sounds, from the ringing of a telephone – to a sweeping broom, translated into music and rhythm, inspiring me to compose, sing and dance to the symphony surrounding my environment.
Brief us the feedback you are getting from fans on your music.
Those who love Kyera tend to be fanatic. My sound is deep with a fast vibrato. I’m new, unique, and different which can become a new normal. Fans love my power and energy when I perform.
Discuss the relevance of social networking to music.
I appreciate the amount of control an artist has in getting their music out there and actually heard via social media. And in getting one’s own music out there, you get to discover other very talented artists who are just as hungry as you to be heard and make their mark on music.
Tell us how you record your song.
Producer, Narada Michael Walden, studied my voice and my performances from my last album called, ‘Ethereal’, and was so in tune with me that he says he channeled my spirit when composing the music to the two songs he wrote for me. He then sent me the two tracks and I had 2 days to write the lyrics before flying out to Tarpan Studios to record. I recorded ‘Passion’ and ‘Heart of Gold’ during a weekend. Narada is an exceptional producer.
Tell us the story behind the song.
Narada Michael Walden studied my earlier music and videos and was inspired by the way I move. I have a soft aggressive dramatic movement that can captivate. There was this one particular move that I did where I stomp really hard and shake. He had never seen that before. I said that he was watching my raw passion and so he wanted to compose something where I could do my thing on it. So he composed a song where I could stomp and say, “With Passion.” He composed the music and communicated the idea of passion. I loved the composition and went into my cave zone and wrote lyrics that integrated and enhanced the music.
State your musical skills.
I play the piano and the guitar but I am not a pro on these instruments. I can play enough to record and enjoy playing around. I would like to improve my skills in both. I grew up playing the clarinet and the bassoon. Maybe it’s like riding a bike, but it’s been a long time since I’ve played either of those instruments.
Tell us how long it takes to complete a song from the start.
If someone else has composed the song, it’s a solid two days. If it’s me composing, wow, I get inspired in so many different ways. But if I am in the zone, I can compose the bare bones of a song in about a day and then take about a week building and reworking, tweaking, and expanding as well as the lyrics.
Go into detail on how you develop your lyrics and melody.
If someone else has composed the song, it’s a solid two days of immersing myself in the world of the source of the creator and combine the duplication of what they were communicating with the music with how the music influences me. Then I write and re-write and re-write the lyrics. Ah, before the lyrics I feel the melody of the lyrics. The rhythm of the words. The flow. So I often have very temporary lyrics that I know will change, it’s just the rhythm is correct. Then I will strike upon a line that is absolutely correct for the feel, mood, and communication and I start building from that.
Discuss music in full detail.
State your favorite musical instruments.
Describe the chemistry between you and your fans during a live performance.
I address each person, even if I’m performing for huge crowds. I don’t like to look at each person, but my intention is that each individual is impacted. I want people to feel what I’m feeling when I sing. There is an impingement that happens.
Discuss your music career.
I began composing at an early age of 7 and produced my first official song when I was 16. Grew up being told I didn’t have a good voice; not a good singing voice. I wasn’t so much bothered by that because I viewed myself as a composer. My album was an instrumental using piano/synthesizer. When I learned how to play the guitar, I began writing songs with lyrics — for someone else to sing. I would sing them at open-mic, just because I was proud of the song, but did not attach to singing them. One day I was helping a fashion designer friend as a model in her fashion show. While driving in my car, she asked me to sing one of my songs. 20 minutes of back and forth of me declining and her persisting. I finally sang a song to her. When I first began singing, I could see that I really got her actual attention and she was engaged. I felt comfortable and began to sink into the natural depth of my voice. She started crying and proclaimed that no one should ever sing my songs, but me. She asked me to open her fashion show which I did and got rave reviews. I then decided to go for it as an artist and wrote, produced, and sang my next album, ‘Ethereal’.

There had been so much chemistry between Narada Michael Walden and me with the composing and writing of the song ‘Passion’, that there was so much excitement built up before our meeting. When I entered his studio, video cameras were rolling and I had a bouquet of flowers waiting for me. It was awesome. I had noticed his rockstar bracelet and commented that I loved it. About 20 minutes later, he knelt down and created a little ceremony of gifting his rockstar bracelet to me.

“Passion” is my anthem to empower people to be courageous and believe in themselves.”
NEW YORK, NY, USA, April 5, 2018 /EINPresswire.com/ – You might say that Kyera, a singer, songwriter, and instrumentalist, is a unicorn in the music world. Her long, flowing, naturally wavy hair, supermodel height, athletic body, and “no-nonsense” approach to life will command your attention. Kyera’s magical energy combined with a deep, haunting, beautiful voice will reach the depths of your soul and take a stronghold of your ears.
A recent transplant from Hollywood, California to New York City, Kyera comes out into the spotlight with the debut of her single “Passion” on iHeartRadio stations 105.1FM in Greater New York, 103.5FM in Greater Miami, and 102.1FM in Greater Philadelphia areas.
The studio release was produced by Grammy Award-Winning Mega Producer Narada Michael Walden and features multiple award-winner guitarist and international icon Carlos Santana‘s legendary musical signature on Kyera’s electrifying single.
“Kyera reminds me of the incomparable Nina Simone, “The High Priestess of Soul,” said Walden. “She has a distinct sound, look, and delivers timeless music.” Kyera counts Simone as one of her influencers, along with Sia, Queen, David Bowie, and Tracy Chapman.
“Ms. Simone was really outspoken and didn’t play around, neither does Kyera,” said Walden. “We are not used to hearing Nina Simone live, we are not used to hearing that kind of low voice with such natural vibrato like Kyera’s and it’s wonderful.”
Who knew that Kyera’s unwavering passion for music and unique sound would lead her on a mystical journey across the country- from New York to Northern California – onto the stomping grounds of Walden, the hitmaker.
“My introduction to Narada happened through Entertainment Consultant and Music Producer Raffles Van Exel,” said Kyera. “I recorded my song on my iPhone and sent it to Narada, hoping he would like it.” Her unique vocals slayed the song. A well-rounded musician, she plays the clarinet, bassoon, piano, and guitar.
“It’s her vibe, her music, and lyrics that breathes life into her sound made for the world to hear,” said Van Exel whose circle of close-knit friends have included musical giants (past) Prince, Michael Jackson, and Whitney Houston; and (present) George Lopez, Elton John, Chaka Khan, just to name a few. “Kyera is a breath of fresh air.”
“With my music and performance, my intention is the same; to reach out, grab you, and indulge your emotions… your heart… you,” explained Kyera. “My music ranges from simple to epic, from country to contemporary imbued with Latin strumming and some tribal influences.”
That said. It was time to take her skills to the next level. “My life didn’t truly start until I started singing the songs in my heart,” proclaims Kyera.
“It is an interesting experience because right now I am living a dream, and yet it feels like it was supposed to be,” said Kyera. “I don’t have a fluttering feeling that I have to hold on to this because I am going to lose it. I feel I have created a new norm that I am stepping into and it feels very comfortable.”
Walden has an impressive 57 number one hits and produced for superstars like Aretha Franklin; Vesta Williams; Al Jarreau; George Benson; Steve Winwood; Phyllis Hyman; Stacy Lattisaw; Al Green; Shanice Wilson; Ray Charles; Diana Ross; Gladys Knight; Tevin Campbell; Angela Bofill; Natalie Cole; Elton John & Kiki Dee; Eddie Murphy; Pointer Sisters; Sister Sledge; Sheena Easton; The Temptations; Whitney Houston; Mariah Carey; and more.
“I am very aware of the magnitude of that new level from which I stepped onto from where I was,” said Kyera. “I feel I have always been at that magnitude but the timing wasn’t right.” She says that everything in her life is now aligned including the purpose of her life and everyone around her.
“My next steps in my music career are: revisiting the old which I may or may not do, creating the new Kyera, and forging more collaborations,” she said. “My success is a reality.”
Kyera shares the inspiration behind her song, “Passion.”
The lyrics of “Passion” carry the message much like an anthem to empower people to be courageous and believe in themselves. The track, composed by Walden, is powerful and evokes a sound made to fill up big spaces and ascend to the universe from an amphitheater such as the Hollywood Bowl in Los Angeles, California.
The production of her single is nothing short of what the power of musical geniuses can accomplish and shoot Kyera to new heights in the music industry.
“Kyera’s lyrics are on point,” said Santana, who has sold more than 100 million records and reached more than 100 million fans at concerts worldwide. To date, among his many accolades, Santana has won 10 GRAMMY® Awards, including a record-tying nine for a single project, 1999’s Supernatural (including Album of the Year and Record of the Year for “Smooth”) as well as three Latin GRAMMY’s.
“You will only achieve happiness if you are passionate about what you are doing,” explained Kyera. “People don’t know that they are missing out on life because they are not tuned into that.”
Kyera’s mantra is “I’m not going to apologize for my greatness.”
Kyera, a native of Shaker Heights, Ohio, currently resides in New York. She is no stranger to the entertainment industry. As an established television writer, she worked on hit shows such as “The Jamie Foxx Show,” The PJ’s” (starring Eddie Murphy), “Third Watch,” “My Wife and Kids,” and “Single Ladies.”
Her love of music took over. Kyera is a songwriter, singer, and vocalist. Her unforgettable sound is felt to the depths of your soul. Everyday sounds, from the ringing of a telephone – to a sweeping broom, translated into music and rhythm, inspiring her to sing and dance to the symphony surrounding her environment.
