Lyrics:

I can’t handle emotions
Don’t know if
I want you but you know this
But I just might swim oceans for you
Baby if I sink would you notice

Would do you notice

I’ve been writing songs to get through
I’d be lying if I said they weren’t about you
Cause you run in my mind marathon

Tryna figure out if you care or not
And you’re signals don’t help a lot
Cause you mix them all up like you shaking dice
When I call I should only call twice but I

Called you
Way too many times tonight
Didn’t even think about it twice
I knew that you already knew
I was on your mind

I’m just hoping that you’re up right now
I was hoping I could say what’s up right now
Know our emotions are mixed up right now
But say one word and I’ll slide

Yeah, you don’t have to say a word

I know that you want me right now
Open up your heart so you can love me right now
Open up your phone and put me on the speed dial
Say one word and I’ll

Can I slide?
Can I slide?

I was writing haikus about you in high school
Back when pen and paper made you feel better
Back when all you used to wear was my sweater
But time changed us like the weather

Yeah

I was thinking
Maybe you could leave the door unlocked
Cause I get off at ten o’clock
And I could creep in
Typing on your screen it
Got you up real late
I’ll be on my way
I just hope that you’re not sleeping

I’m just hoping that you’re up right now
I was hoping I could say what’s up right now
Know our emotions are mixed up right now
But say one word and I’ll slide

Yeah, you don’t have to say a word

I know that you want me right now
Open up your heart so you can love me right now
Open up your phone and put me on the speed dial
Say one word and I’ll

Producer: Honestly, I have produced all but my first single. Once I come across a beat that I am drawn to, I just go to work.

Production Process: The very first thing I do is finding a beat that I can really resonate with. I’ve gotten to the point where I know what my voice is capable of and I know what my sound is, so I’m not just going to pick any beat. If I can sit back and draw inspiration from the beat, I’ve completed the first step. As far as the last step, once I’ve produced the demo of the song I listen to it over and over again. This is with headphones, a phone, speakers in the car, just so I can see if it sounds right in every form that it can be possibly played in.

Advice: Trust the process. Come up with your own way of consistently making music. If you’re an independent artist, don’t rush the process. Make sure you are putting everything you have into your song so you can create an art piece at its best.

Experience: I haven’t had much experience in the music business, but all I know is that it is tough, especially being independent. You have to do your own marketing and promotion and if you are going the whole nine yards it also includes producing and mixing.

Instrumentation: As of right now, I don’t really have access to any real instruments although I would love to get to that point in the future. Some friends have made beats for me, or I just come across them online.

Sing Along: Ha-ha, I hope I get to this point! I really would love to see other people sing along to my songs because it means that I’ve done my job. One of the reasons I make music is to let people have something they can relate to.

Song Creation: Creating something raw. I try to be as honest as possible when I write my music. I want people to listen to my songs and be like “wow this guy knows exactly what I’m going through, I’m glad I’m not the only one who experiences things like this.”

Writing: I never force anything. I make sure what I’m writing is something that means something to me or is something relatable. I’m very hard on myself about the writing aspect of music because it’s my favorite part. It’s poetry…

Music Style: It takes time to really, truly find your style. Not only do you have to understand what you’re comfortable with, but you also have to take a leap of faith outside your comfort zone. I have gotten to the point in my art where I have an idea of the sound I’m trying to create. It’s also important at least for me not to limit myself to just one genre or one style. It’s possible for several types of sounds to come together beautifully.

Recording: I have probably the most basic setup… A microphone, a popper, headphones, and a DAW… All of this is in my bedroom.

Songwriting: If you hear me in a song, I wrote every word. Writing is my favorite part – so much so, that I would love to write for other artists.

Fans: I haven’t really had experience with “fans”. A lot of the people that listen to my music I know. I’m excited for the opportunity to interact with fans when I reach that point.

Artist’s Name: Kyle Jackson is my full name.
Song’s Title: I wrote “Slide” about sharing mixed feelings with another person. Sometimes love is tricky and uncertain. The idea of things not turning out the way you want them to is scary, but taking a chance on someone who proves to be worth the risk makes it worth it. The first step is building up the decisiveness to ask them if they can slide.
