He is able to sing microtonally, plays baglama, bass guitar, piano, guitar, and hand percussion.
He has shared the stage with artists like Aynur, Simon Shaheen, Tigran Hamasyan, Antonio Serrano, and also performed an arrangement for Neil Portnow, Lionel Richie, Todd Rundgren, Lucinda Williams, Shin Joong Hyun in Agganis Arena, 2017.

Tell us what your fans are saying about your music.
Its mood surprised them, and they convinced me to have the music video include subtle erotic elements.
Some people who shared said it makes them strut in the street with their headphones on.

Tell us the factors you consider in choosing a song as your favorite.
Black Moon’s Shade’s production takes the lyrics further than its sadness.
The drop section vocals were musically such a strong idea by the lyricist Blake Johnston, I couldn’t dare to not include it.
Usually, I like songs that touch the hearts, that’s how I choose songs to finish and release, but Black Moon’s Shade’s vibe had a surprise turn for me.

Tell us the names of producers you will collaborate with if you have the chance.
FINNEAS is a genius, as a producer and a lyricist; and I love Ali P’s productions as well.

Tell us the names of the songwriters you will collaborate with if you have the chance.
Jordan Rakei and FINNEAS are some of my favorite songwriters, but my first choice would be Michael Jackson if he was still with us.

Tell us your favorite TV show and state your reason.
I loved After Life; it was so real, soulful. It reflects ‘life’ and empowers goodness without any lame or cheesy emotional abuse.

Tell us your best mood to create a song.
Being in a completely neutral mood is useless. Passion is the primary material for me, it can be for a political, emotional, ethical reason, and the result can be anger, love, heartbreak, the artistic outcome becomes sincere and effective.

Tell us the names of artists you will collaborate with if you have the chance.
Rosalia and Kehlani’s music are timeless and amazing.

Tell us about your experience performing on stage for the first time or recording in the studio for the first time.
I was told it was going to be terrifying but it felt so natural to be on stage, I even love to talk in between songs.
The studio is a different situation, being in a booth, so isolated is not the best feeling, but still performing feels home.

Tell us how you approach songwriting.
I like to write the lyrics first (or compose after the lyricist provides me the lyrics), because that makes sure the lyrics are reflected by the music.
I write many pages of personal letters to gather my thoughts and feelings and that helps me write the lyrics in a song form that I desire.

Tell us your opinion on blending genres or experimenting with sound.
I never intend to create music on a single genre, so the blending happens naturally, consciously, and subconsciously between genres that live in my mind and soul. Maybe it would commercially make more sense to blend as little as possible, but that’s not in my artistic expression much, but I’m not against it in any way.

Tell us how you deal with rejection.
It’s fine, art is a very personal thing.

Elaborate on what compels you to sing.
Hearing my voice and expressing a feeling, and very rarely to impress people.

Tell us the comparison between digital recording and analog recording.
Analog recording has its warmth but it lacks flexibility, thus I prefer digital but using the best software and equipment that I have access to.

Tell us how you record your vocals.
I record demo recordings at home, no isolation or anything, but then I go to the studio after I make the decisions. I record with two different microphones at the same time, and I check which one sounds better when I get home.

Tell us the software you used mostly for recording.
I use Logic Pro X most of the time; I rarely use Cubase and Pro Tools. I have Ableton Live but I don’t really use it.

The story behind the lyrics of Black Moon’s Shade was co-developed with the ballad-rock artist Blake Johnston – vocalist, guitarist, and songwriter of Casual Cubs.
Lyrics were written and finalized by Blake Johnston. The initial emotional direction of the lyrics soon transformed into a positive outlook when Johnston came up with the “Ooh”s and “Aah”s in what turned out to be the drop section.
Black Moon’s Shade’s melodic and harmonic accompaniments are light while the rhythmic and thematic elements of the song are dominant, placing the song somewhere between Synthwave and Nu Disco.
Mahir CK remarks, “Whenever I shared the song with a friend while walking down the street, their walk would turn into a strut, and their facial expression started looking almost like they were narcissistic for some reason…”
While the song has emotional lyrics, the arrangement contains hardcore 80s electronic pop and 70s disco elements with an uplifting mood.
The synth solo and the vocal hook of the drop section give a kind of escapism and euphoria that is very rare in today’s music!

Lyrics:   Black Moon’s Shade
[Verse 1]
My eyes rest easy on your crescent lips,
But each smile brings only sadness…
Hope was a sliver of light swallowed by this total eclipse

Every word we say is shadowed by fate
Waiting to escape the black moon’s shade
Every word we share is shadowed by fate
Waiting to escape the black moon’s shade

Aah ahh ooh ooh
Aah ahh ooh ooh (black moon’s shade)
Aah ahh ooh ooh
Aah ahh ooh ooh (black moon’s shade)

[Verse 2]
Your soul shines brighter than a shooting star
But I found your light much too late…
Soon you’ll be catching flight just as I am starting to fall

Every moment we share I’m pulled into you
Waiting to collide with certain gloom

Aah ahh ooh ooh
Aah ahh ooh ooh (black moon’s shade)
Aah ahh ooh ooh
Aah ahh ooh ooh (black moon’s shade)

Like two comets
Soaring towards each other
Our paths were only meant to cross
But not run side by side…

Aah ahh ooh ooh
Aah ahh ooh ooh (black moon’s shade)
Aah ahh ooh ooh
Aah ahh ooh ooh (black moon’s shade)
