State your favorite genre of music and your reason.
R&B is my favorite genre. Singing about any topic preferably situations based on real love always touches the heart in a sympathetic way. I always wished I can sing but that’s not where my talent lies.
Tell us your experience as a musician.
Music has been part of my life since the age of 5. I’ve met a lot of people along the way. My journey has turned me into not only a writer and composer but also a performer, producer, promoter, engineer, and DJ. I guess it’s what comes with the territory of being a real musician.
Tell us the theme of your song.
“What You Need” theme is focused on lust, affection, and fun times. Wanting to give to get what you want from one but with good vibes.
Name the people behind your success and thank them on this platform.
The people behind my journey are myself, and DJ Mike Smooth. My will and strength, his way and guidance, we shall taste success in its freshest form.
Tell us your future goals.
My future goals have always been my goals from now, which are to become a pioneer, icon, and role model.
Discuss your music career.
My debut album “Rookie of the Year” was released on March 27, 2018. I’m getting more streams and notoriety with each day that passes – such a humbling experience.
Elaborate on how you think your music is inspiring your fans.
My music is meant to take my fans on a positive mental journey with me. How it inspires them is totally up to them.
Analyze the transformations you have discovered so far in the music industry.
The music industry is constantly changing with each song, each day. Staying relevant is the only way to stay afloat in which I plan and have no problem with doing.
State the artists you cherish most and your reason.
Michaels (myself) should be self-explanatory.
Elaborate on how you develop your lyrics.
My lyrics all come from my heart and mind, whatever and however my soul is feeling. It doesn’t have to be to a beat or instrumental, it just has to be real.
Tell us if you enjoy collaborating with other artists or just singing as a solo artist.
As a proud satisfied solo artist, I love collaborating with other artists. It gives the music more point of view and sometimes direction.
Brief us your opinion on making music that makes people dance or making the music with a genuine message that inspires them.
Music was made to bring people together and dance. That was at the beginning of time. Then artists found ways to actually vent in their music, to what situations they or someone else are going through. Not necessarily to inspire but to make aware of what’s going on.

Discuss the impact of a Performance Rights Organization.
ASCAP makes sure I’m paid and protected.
Elaborate on how you develop your melody and instrumentation.
I produce (beats) music with no direction. I just go at it knowing it has to sound relevant for today’s modern era. When it’s finished, then I listen to what it’s saying to me, then I decide what to write about.
Go into detail on the recording of this song.
I produced “What You Need” at my older sister’s house in Brooklyn not knowing if it was something I would actually write a song to. I originally wrote the song lyrics to another beat I produced but the beat was much darker and not so commercial. I had to weigh my options on what would be more beneficial to the project.
Discuss your music performance.
My performances are very special to me; also addicting but scary at the same time. I connect with the people through the music, without it; it’s hard to connect with them.
I always leave the stage with an intoxicating feeling that no liquid or substance can give me, and that’s what makes it addicting.
State your artist’s name and elaborate on it.
Michaels, because that my name.
State the title of the album and the reason for choosing the title.
“Rookie of the Year” because I am.
