MILK Parade – Believe In Love

Go into detail on why you decide to choose music as a career.
You don’t choose music, it chooses you.

Brief us the feedback you are getting from fans concerning your music.
MILK parade has only released one other single which is called “Diamonds”; we released it 18 months ago and we had an amazing response from music fans all over the world.

Discuss the relevance of social networking to music.
Like everything else that is shared on social media, people like to share music that they like and as a result, social networks play a huge part in reaching new fans in this modern age.

Brief us about the recording of this song.
The bones of the song I recorded at my home studio starting with the chord structures adding melodies and textures then adding vocals. I then send all the files to my MILK parade collaborator Jim Wilcox who lives in Denver and he adds his magic by refining the sounds and sharpening the vocals. Then he mixes the track and finally we have our friend J Paul (who is a live mixing engineer for Keys and Krates) master it.

Tell us the story behind the song.
Love is the story behind the song. Love is stronger than evil and fear and pain and all the things that can bring you down in life; so really it’s just a simple reminder that love is at the top of every mountain.

State your area of specialization in music.
I play Synths/Drums/Guitar and I am also a vocalist.

Tell us how long it takes to finish a song from the start.
MILK parade songs usually take about 1 week, give or take a day or two.

Go into detail on how you develop your lyrics and melody.
Lyrically I start with what I would like to say in the song, what is the message once I know what the message is; I get inspired by the chords or melody of the synth lines most times just one vocal line will come very naturally based on the music then I take a step back and build lyrics around that. With vocal melodies, I tend to just hear them in my head when listening to the chords of the song.

Discuss music generally in full detail.
There is so much that can be said about music but for me, the basic fundamentals of music teach us that ‘Harmony is the Father of peace and happiness while Melody is the Mother’.

State your five favourite genres of music.
Motown/Rock’n’Roll/Pop/Jazz/House. I love them all for the same reason, they make me feel alive, they soothe and comfort, they make me want to fight, fuck and sometimes forget.

State your favorite musical instruments.
All of them except banjo!

Describe the chemistry between you and your fans during a live performance.

My first band Power of Dreams had a very famous fan. When we returned to Dublin from our first world tour in support of our critically acclaimed debut album “Immigrants,  Emigrants and Me” to play our first hometown concert after all of our success 10 minutes before we went on stage there was a knock on our dressing room and guy said I have a delivery for Power of Dreams and handed us a huge gift basket with flowers, chocolates, and a BB King record and a note which read Hey guys, I really love your album and I am very sad I cannot be there tonight but hope to see you soon Love BONO –  We sent him a box of our own Power of Dreams flavored condoms and a Dinosaur Jr record. 🙂
