Tell us your real names, country of birth, date of birth and childhood experience.

My name is Victoria Mórtola, I was born in Buenos Aires, Argentina on the 23rd of July 1990. Ever since I could remember, I was fascinated by music, and I taught myself how to play guitar around the age of 13, mainly for being able to compose. I grew up listening almost exclusively to The Beatles, since my dad is a big fan of them, and later on, thanks to the internet, I started exploring lots of genres that began shaping my music taste.

Tell us about your music career, your band name, musical background, experience and skills.

It wasn’t until 2012 that I had my first band, an all-girl riot grrrl band, Kill All Hipsters, where I played guitar and bass, as well as singing. We played all over Buenos Aires, and toured in Argentina, as well as Chile and Uruguay.

With two of the girls from this project, we also had a garage rock band, Zep Tepi & The Boy From Venus, where I played second guitar.

The last project I was involved in in Buenos Aires – and that continues in London, is an electronic duo, The Dildos, which also toured in Argentina and Chile.

For the riot grrrl band, our sound was quite similar to a mixture between Bikini Kill, Blouse, Hole, and an overall 90s grunge blended with a post-punk vibe.

Tell us about your genre, concept and idea behind your music video and the song.

My genre has now evolved to a more dreamy, shoegaze style. I have been immersed in the Twin Peaks world for the past year – watching it for the third time, waiting for the 3rd Season – and I think that influenced the EP, especially in songs like Swan.

The idea behind the video was actually crafted by the visual artist Francisco Román (https://www.behance.net/franoroman), who was also in charge of the artwork of the EP, and the single “Alive”. He has a dark and intriguing style that I believed blended perfectly with my music.

Tell us everything that we need to know about you as a musician and the ups and downs you have faced in the music business.

As a solo artist, I have just started, and I haven’t been around for so long to have experienced what I did with my previous bands.

Tell us about other members of your band, music producer, crew or music video director and how the music video was shot.

I don’t have any band members yet. The mixing, mastering and co-production was made by Santiago de Simone, 7AM Mixing (http://www.santiagodesimone.com.ar)

Tell us how long you have been in the music industry, your experience and your future goal.

At the moment, the only blog that has shared my EP so far is Rocktails, from Argentina: http://www.rocktails.tv

Tell us how you write your lyrics, compose, sing and record in the studio.

Most of the time I just have a melody going on in my head. I record it on my phone, or wherever, and then I record it at home in my “studio”. The lyrics most of the time are improvised gibberish that I then polish and try to make sense out of what my unconscious was trying to say.

Name five biggest artists that you look up to like idols.

Just one, Paul McCartney.

Name the artists you have collaborated with before in your songs or artists you are willing to collaborate with in the future if you have the chance to do so.

In fairness, I haven’t asked any artist to collaborate on my record. But I did collaborate with Pablo Neptuno, and quite recently with Los Pencales.
