ALBUM TITLE: River Hounds – Live at Abbey Road Studios
RELEASE DATE: 11/03/19

River Hounds are the epitome of modern Rock and Roll whilst staying true to their roots of Zeppelin, Oasis, Hendrix, Rival Sons.
Comprising lead vocalist Rich Grisman, bass/vocalist Tony Crumpton, lead guitarist Dimi Balev and drummer Manol Marekov, the four-piece band was formed at the beginning of 2017.
Shortly after forming, the band self-released its debut E.P. along with a series of self-produced music videos.
Following this success, River Hounds filmed their biggest show of 2017 and have been steadily building a fan base through releasing songs with more yet to come on VEVO, YouTube, Spotify, and all social media platforms!
On stage, they are a tour de force, with surging riffs and soaring melodies.
The band recently got the opportunity to record a live session at Abbey Road studios and have produced an EP off the back of it which they feel, is their best work yet.
Tell us how to refine a demo to a mastered song.
In the rehearsal studio, whenever we write a new song we spend a fair amount of time refining it in the rehearsal room. That involves recording it at the end of every session, usually on a phone, and then all listening to it, and see if anything doesn’t quite work.
Discuss the processing involved in creating a song.
One of us, usually Rich or Tony will come in with anything from just a riff to a fully formed song and we then work on it together in the rehearsal room. That way we are all involved in the process and able to put our own style on the song.
Elaborate on the theme of most of your songs.
Rich writes the majority of the lyrics and they are always based on something happening in his life or in the world. This varies from songs like ‘Runaway’ which is about addiction to ‘She’ which is about friendship to an old song called ‘Lie to You’ which is about lying politicians.
Tell us your greatest musical works up to date.
Our latest EP, Live at Abbey Road Studios – we believe it is the best work we’ve ever done.
Tell us those behind your music process.
We work on everything together. The original idea, riff, or sometimes whole song normally comes from Rich or Tony but then we all make it a River Hounds song together.
Tell us how you are handling the promotion of your music.
We are promoting our music through Facebook and YouTube; we try and target fans of similar music in the hope that they’ll like our music too.
Tell us your future goals and how you aim to accomplish them.
This year we want to sign a record deal, then next year become the biggest band in the world.
Tell us what you think has changed in the music industry.
Almost everything – It used to be about being a good live band and building a following through gigs, now you don’t need to play gigs to get a following, you do it all online which is a massive shame.
The one thing that hasn’t changed and never will is you still need to write good songs, so many bands think that if they’ve got the look, the image, and the video that they’re going to make it forgetting that their songs are shit.
Tell the greatest mistake to avoid while making a song.
Overcomplicating them – Songs at their heart should be really simple.
Elaborate on the songs.
She is one of those songs that just clicked. It’s based on a riff that Tony came up with and within one evening of hearing it, the song was born. It features everything that makes River Hounds what we are, booming drums from Manol, a searing guitar solo from Dimi, wandering bass from Tony, and powerful vocals from Rich.
The lyrics are about a close friend of Rich’s, although her identity has never been revealed outside of the band. From the moment it was conceived, it has been one of our favorite songs and we’re really excited to share it with the world.
Runaway was written very late at night by Rich and is one of the most personal songs he’s ever written. It is a song about addiction and the mark it can leave on a person. The song is different from many that we write in that is much more mellow in tone yet still retains our rock and roll roots.
Freddie’s Alright is a ball to wall rock and roll song. A powerful riff coupled with massive drums and searing vocals, this time lead by Tony. This song is full of energy and is everything we want in a River Hounds song, especially Dimi’s epic solo.

Tell us how you eliminate noise in your recordings.
It’s hard; Dimi always wants to be louder!
List the name of artists you cherish most.
Rival Sons, Jimi Hendrix, Oasis, Led Zeppelin, The Temperance Movement.
Tell us how you get inspiration.
Real-life and the world we live in, Rich writes the lyrics based on real emotion.
Elaborate on your artist name and the title of the album.
The name River Hounds came after quite a few names we didn’t like. Why we liked it as the River signifies the Thames in London where we all met and Hounds because we are tenacious in our goal of becoming a big band.
