Samad Savage

Tell us everything will need to know about you.
I’m a New Jersey Artist for the change of the world through the power of music for unity, peace, and love.

State your favorite genre of music and your reason.
At the moment; Lo-Fi Hip Hop. It soothes me, makes it easier to think, and I and my homies freestyle to it.

Tell us your experience as a musician.
I’ve performed in front of 10 people to 3,000 people. I did my own concert in my town last year and over 400 people showed up, so yes, that was awesome. I’m also performing down at SXSW this year and have plans to do more shows. Joe Budden believes in me, but I’d still go as hard as I can regardless of who approves or disapproves. Redman also gave me a head nod of approval so that was super hype. Both of those rappers are from N.J., by the way.

Tell us the theme of your song.
My song is pretty much me spazzing with as many multi-syllable rhymes as I can do while being entertaining your ears with a groovy, early 2000s sounding beat produced by yours truly. I just really wanted to focus on a time where, Timbaland, Missy Elliot, Busta Rhymes, M.O.P. and Pharrell were all I heard on the radio….When the radio was legit what the people wanted to hear all the time.

Name the people behind your success and thank them on this platform.
I would like to thank my manager, label, agent, and PR .i.e. me (haha). I want to thank my mom for creating me, my girlfriend for endlessly supporting me, my current listeners that keep keeping up with my music and moves, and last, but not least, God.

Tell us about your future goals.
I truly want to become a leader the people can trust to lead others into leadership with my music. I want to be all my favorite people combined, flushing out the bad things such as drugs and alcohol and just be what those people were to me to the next couple of generations growing up in this unique, weird world where uniqueness and weirdness are shunned.

Go into detail about your opinion on religion and politics.
I feel like there’s only one God and that people should just think about that instead of focusing on our differences. I feel anyone should be able to believe what they want and act on it as long as it doesn’t harm or verbally offend anyone. Like I wish homophobes would just feel how they feel, but just stop trying to impede other people on what they want to do. Even better, why must some racists scream racial slurs or pull hijabs off? Just feel how you feel and keep it moving. Just me being an American and expressing my first amendment rights…right?

Elaborate on how you think your music is inspiring your fans.
I feel like I make people want to be better. A lot of people work out to my music. I also have shared some life experiences in my songs (Not this one) that people have contacted me in their emotions telling me how much it means to relate to someone and they call me brave. When honestly I just feel as if I went through my past so I can rap about it and make people feel not so lonely. Not everyone can really rap and speak the truth.

Explain the changes you have observed so far in the music industry.
The internet is king now. Which gives many artists freedom to do as they please, but now it’s over-saturated with nonsense and gimmicks.

State the artists you cherish most and your reason.
Kanye West, Timbaland, and JKuch for production and creativity.
Lupe Fiasco, Kendrick Lamar, and Andre 3000 for storytelling.
Eminem, Big Daddy Kane, and Big Pun for bars. J-Cole, Kyle, and John Legend for vibes.

Give us the links to your social network and stores.

Elaborate on how you develop your lyrics.
I usually play with words like math. I think that’s actually why I almost never used the same flows. I write in my iPhone notes app because I write way slower than I think. Everything in the room has to stop when I’m writing to. I write my best stuff around 3.00 AM though.

Tell us if you enjoy collaborating with other artists or just singing as a solo artist.
I love to collaborate, but with people, I actually want to collaborate with. Paid features are fun sometimes too, but it’s nothing like the magic of rapping with an artist you really rock with.

Brief us your opinion on making music that makes people dance or making the kind of music with a genuine message that inspires them.
Why not do both? That’s actually where I’m at right now.

Tell us what you know about copyright.
A lot, I’m protected. Wish more artists knew about it.

Discuss the impact of a Performing Rights Organization.
They changed the culture and are here for the actual artists out there.

Elaborate on how you develop your melody and instrumentation.
Practicing or learning a new instrument and do what people tell you shouldn’t.

Go into detail on the recording process of this song.
I record myself, to be honest; I built my own little studio in my apartment. My neighbors don’t mind because they think I sound dope haha.

Discuss your music performance.
I don’t want to say too much because I try to surprise people with new things every time they see me. Also, if you give up the recipe, everyone will have the sauce.

State the official date of release.
November 21st, 2017 for the song and February 19th, 2018 for the Music Video.

State your artist’s name and elaborate on it.
I am Samad Savage, No I’m not a drill or trap rapper, I just feel like being yourself unapologetically is the most savage thing you can do nowadays.

State the title of the song and the meaning.
OMG…it means “on my grind”…no it really means “Oh My Gosh” haha. It’s a reaction to the bars and beat, but also me paying homage to Busta Rhymes verse on “Scenario” by A Tribe Called Quest. Rest in Peace Phife.

State the title of the album and the reason for picking the title.
The Gray area. I’m not just conscious, nor just trap. I’m not a saint, nor a devil. I’m not rap’s savior, nor am I the reason why rap is trash now. I’m in between the black and white of it all. I’m The Gray Area.
