Discuss your personality.
We are both shy – hence the name Shy Shy Shy. But in different ways. Astrid talks a lot, Simon doesn’t.

Brief us about you as a musician.
The very short story: Boy and girl met in small-town Skive, Denmark. Formed a band. Fought over who would be the lead singer. Decided to sing in unison.
Since then we have released an EP ‘Love Songs’, been featured on a Christmas show been played on radio channels all over the world (though mostly in Denmark), and have played at some of Denmark’s coolest venues and festivals; e.g. SPOT, Voxhall and Roskilde Festival. Now we are back with new material. Our debut album ‘Make Up’ will be out on March 2nd.

Go into details on what has changed in your life for choosing music as a career.
Nothing has changed. We have both been playing all our lives.

Tell us the benefits and drawbacks of choosing music as a career.
We get to do what we love, but it is not the easiest way to make a living.

Tell us how you will manage fame as an established artist.
We haven’t really thought that much about it. It is the music that drives us.

Elaborate on the storyline of this song.
It’s a song about being lonely and unpopular. It’s about trying to justify it and convince yourself that “you don’t need love from someone else”. Despite the quite goofy sound, it’s actually a rather sad song. It’s one big lie – everyone needs love from “Someone Else”.

Let us know the greatest moment of your music career.
There have been many but the crowd at Roskilde singing along to our song “Do Not Ask” is hard to forget.

Tell us the highest amount of money you have ever received from your music career and how it happened.
Can’t really remember. Probably a lot less than you would make from a regular job.

Discuss your experience pertaining to live performances, gigs, shows, and tours.
Playing shows is the best. We love connecting with the audience through the music and we can’t wait to get out there with all the new tunes from the album.

Tell us how you interact with your fans.
We try to make music that is relevant for everybody and talk about relatable topics in our lyrics. To us, a good song is an honest song.

Tell us what you will like to change if you have the chance to turn back the hands of time.
Nothing. The first rule of time travel is that you can’t change anything without it affecting everything else.

Tell us the most important people that have boosted your music career and how you met them.
Well, that would have to be each other. There would be no Shy shy shy if we weren’t in it together. Our music is the product of our collaboration and neither one of us could do it without the other.

Brief us on what you have in mind before considering music as a career.
You have to figure out why you want to be a musician. Are you doing it to get famous or are you doing it because you can’t live without music in your life? There are so many talented people out there and there is no guarantee that you are going to “make it” as a recording artist, so you should only do it if you can’t stop yourself.

Discuss your good and bad experience in life.
When you put your heart and soul into what you do there are bound to be some downfalls. If you fall out with your band-mate, if you can’t quite make the song work or if people simply don’t love it the way you had hoped. But when you are playing on stage with your friends, releasing your first song, and soon standing with your first full-length album in your hands. Then it is all worth it.

Name the artists that have influenced the world.
Some of the artists that have inspired us and many others are The Beatles, David Bowie, and Björk. They make very different music but they are all very versatile. They are not afraid to play with genres and expressions but at the core of their music, you always find a good song.

Tell us about your moment of rejection as a musician and how you are able to cope and move on.
As a musician, you get rejected all the time. You just have to keep in mind that you don’t get rejected because you are a bad person. Only because there wasn’t a match between what they were looking for and what you are offering.

Tell us the most negative comment you have ever received about your music.
People have actually been very nice to us. At least to our faces.

Tell us how to become a famous artist.
If we knew we would probably have more success than we do. But our advice is to find something you love and work hard at it.

Tell us how you plan to make an impact on society.
We aim to make music that touches those who hear it. Our upcoming album “Make Up” illustrates the contrasts between what you want to show the world and what you want to hide away; what you want to do vs. what you actually do; what you say vs. how you really feel. In the lyrics, we have examined these contrasts of our own personalities and open up about topics we normally don’t really like to talk about. It is our hope that people will recognize themselves in the songs and in that way find some comfort in knowing that they aren’t alone with these feelings.

Elaborate on the recording process of this song.
We have been in the studio with Rune Borup @ Fishcrop who produced the album for about a year and a half. First, we weren’t sure if the song would make it onto the album at all but once we came up with a guitar riff we fell in love with it. Later came the string section and then we knew it was real love.
