Tell us how you develop your sound and style to make it different from other musicians.
I think my sound is constantly developing. It depends on the season and the mood I am in when I sit down to write. I experiment with sound palettes until I find the right one to build upon. I try to write songs that I like…that I would listen to myself, and I’m not content with just making a catchy tune that doesn’t bring anything new to the table.  If I write something that feels fresh and brings me to another place, I’m on the right track.
Tell us your opinion on the way new artists are coming up and the frequent release of songs.
I think that the industry has changed significantly, with positive and negative aspects. On one hand, there are so many opportunities and platforms for new artists and their music to be heard. On the other hand, because those platforms are so saturated with music, they can be a bit more competitive.
Tell us your experience as a musician.
I’ve been singing and performing in public since I was three. I always knew that I wanted to have a musical career. So, I studied music in school, and achieved success at writing and singing for film and television afterward. Now, I’m focused on writing for my own projects, as well as for other artists.

Tell us your opinion on streaming and digital download of songs.
I think that music should be shared with everyone because it is such a great art form. So, if streaming and digital downloads are making this possible, then I support them.
Tell us how you see yourself in the coming time as a musician.
I am an independent artist, doing everything by myself. I like where I am in the present, and the control I have over my music. I am not certain that my mind will change in the future.

Tell us five current artists that are your favorite presently.
Sylvan Esso, Banks, Kevin Garrett, Kimbra, Jessie Ware.
Tell us your best song up to date and share the link.
I am very happy with three releases in particular- “Low”, “Around Me”, and “Back and Forth”. A lot of people were drawn to “Back and Forth”, though: Spotify
Tell us your dream and hope for the future.
I just look forward to writing as much music as possible, and I hope that it continues to connect with people in the future.
Tell us what you think has changed in the music industry.
Social media has changed everything. Artists are able to promote their work without the help of labels, etc.
Tell us your opinion on TV and radio stations playing the same songs from established artists mostly and giving little chances to independent artists.
I think that given the drastic change we have seen with labels losing a lot of control over the industry, we will see this change in the indie artist’s favor.

Tell us the challenges you think independent artists are facing and how they can be tackled.
There is so much music available now that I think it’s become harder to create a fan base. Persistence and being prolific are good goals, I think, to tackling this problem.

Tell us your opinion on how corruption is affecting society and how it can be eradicated.
I think a lot of the corruption we see in society has actually been a product of how these days, everything is at our fingertips. Things that other generations had to work for are now so easily accessible and available to us. I think that for a lot of people, this cultivates ingratitude and desensitization. I’m not sure that it can be eradicated unless people make a conscious effort to be more appreciative and learn how to experience the world in genuine ways.

State the links to your social media and stores.

Tell us what you think about using social media to promote music online.
I think social media is a great tool for promotion when used wisely.

Tell us how you start as a musician.
My mom and dad were constantly playing music at home, so it is something that has been a part of my life for as long as I can remember. I began singing at church when I was three and then performing in public shows/skits at school.
Tell us what still motivates you to go on with your music career.
Life motivates me. Music is an outlet with which I express myself.

Tell us about you as a person.
I am quite introverted. I like to travel, paint and read in my spare time.
Elaborate on the story behind the song.
This song in particular was inspired by a conversation I had with a close friend of mine. She was talking about her past relationship- how she was ready to move on from her pain and get on with her life. A lot of the time we become addicted to pain and stay trapped in a low place.
Tell us the process involved in making this song.
When I heard the melodic synth that Jacob, the producer played for me, I was immediately inspired. Melodies come naturally to me, so I was able to hear the melodic drafts in my head easily. After that, it was a matter of transferring everything my friend was feeling into words that matched.
State your artist’s name and elaborate on it.
SITA (this is my birth name).

State the title of the song and the meaning.
Low. This song is about someone refusing to stay consumed by past pain.
