5 Seconds of Summer brings to light an eye-catching music video for the song entitled ‘Old Me.’

More!

“Old Me” is the introspective new single from 5 Seconds of Summer (5SOS).

A falsetto-laced reflection on growth and forgiveness, the track is the latest release from 5SOS’s new album C A L M, due out via Polydor Records on March 27.

Speaking on the new music, lead vocalist Luke Hemmings said: “Old me carries a youthful spirit and follows the narrative of a young person’s life growing up, for better or for worse. Every decision we made, whether right or wrong, has led us to the men we are proud to be today.

We were thrown into the public eye at a young age and gratefully had each other at a confusing time. Sometimes it’s important we look back in order to appreciate the journey we’ve been on together.”

The band recently announced the North American leg of the No Shame 2020 Tour which will kick off with a trio of dates in Mexico. Ahead of arriving in the US, 5 Seconds Of Summer return to the UK for headline shows in May, including London’s The SSE Wembley Arena. Their eagerly anticipated UK tour will follow a one-off intimate gig at Kingston’s Pryzm, March 15th.

The only band (not vocal group) in chart history to see its first three studio albums enter the Billboard 200 at No. 1, 5SOS have sold more than 9.6 million equivalent album units and sold over two million concert tickets worldwide, with cumulative streams of their songs now surpassing seven billion.

In addition, they’ve earned several prestigious accolades over the years, including an American Music Award, a People’s Choice Award, two iHeartRadio Music Awards, eight MTV European Music Awards, five ARIA Awards, two APRA, and two MTV Video Music Awards.

Lyrics:

Shout out to the old me

And everything he showed me

Glad you didn’t listen when the world was trying to slow me

No one could control me

Left my lovers lonely

Had to fuck it up before I really got to know me

Never a night alone

Anywhere you wanna go

Woke up in the morning wearing someone else’s clothes

Pictures in my phone

With people I don’t know

Woke up in the morning how the hell’d I make it home

And they wondered how long I could keep it up

While I wondered if I’d ever, if I’d ever get enough

And I did some shit I never should have done

I would do over now, I’d do it over

Shout out to the old me

And everything you showed me

Glad you didn’t listen when the world was trying to slow me

No one could control me

Left my lovers lonely

Had to fuck it up before I really got to know me

All of the mistakes I made

Whatever the price I paid

Shout out to the old me

And everything he showed me

Had to fuck it up before I let you get to know me

Another round here we go

Going in blow for blow

Look into the mirror take the punches that I throw

I’m constantly reminded of all the compromises by the people from my past who have a hard time letting go

And they wondered how long I could keep it up

While I wondered if I’d ever if I’d ever get enough

And I did some shit I never should have done

I would do it over now, I’d do it over

Shout out to the old me

And everything you showed me

Glad you didn’t listen when the world was trying to slow me

No one could control me

Left my lovers lonely

Had to fuck it up before I really got to know me

All of the mistakes I made

Whatever the price I paid

Shout out to the old me

And everything he showed me

Had to fuck it up before I let you get to know me

Devil at my door

Got me knockin’ knockin’ knockin’ on the other side

Ashes on the floor

But I’m walkin’ walkin’ walkin’ outta here alive

Shout out to the old me

And everything you showed me

Glad you didn’t listen when the world was trying to slow me

No one could control me

Left my lovers lonely

Had to fuck it up before I really got to know me

All of the mistakes I made

Whatever the price I paid

Shout out to the old me

And everything he showed me

Had to fuck it up before I let you get to know me

LYRICS:

Angel with the gun in your hand

Pointing my direction

Giving me affection

Love is fatal

Won’t you give it a chance

Center of attention

Don’t you ask me any questions

Go on and light me like a cigarette

Even if it might be something you regret

You got me now now now

Swallow me down down down down

I only light up when cameras are flashing

Never enough

And no satisfaction

Got no shame

I love the way you’re screaming my name

Diggin’ my grave to get a reaction

Changing my face and calling it fashion

Got no shame

I love the way you’re screaming my name

Lay me in the palm of your hand

I’ll give you my permission

You’ll always be forgiven

Go on

Replace me

When you’re craving something sweeter than the words I left in your mouth

Go on and spit me out

I only light up when cameras are flashing

Never enough

And no satisfaction

Got no shame

I love the way you’re screaming my name

Diggin’ my grave to get a reaction

Changing my face and calling it fashion

Got no shame

I love the way you’re screaming my name

Go on and light me like a cigarette

Even if it might be something you regret

You got me now now now

Swallow me down down down down

I only light up when cameras are flashing

Never enough

And no satisfaction

Got no shame

I love the way you’re screaming my name

Diggin’ my grave to get a reaction

Changing my face and calling it fashion

Got no shame

I love the way you’re screaming my name

More!

5 Seconds of Summer (5SOS) will release CALM – their fourth studio album and first for Polydor Records on March 27.

Lead vocalist Luke Hemmings says:

“For a band to make it to four albums is no small feat in itself but to be reinventing and constantly pushing our songwriting and to come out with music that we’ve never been ‘more proud’ of makes me so happy to be in 5 Seconds of Summer. CALM speaks on a journey through a young man’s life, for better or for worse. We are all human and all make mistakes, sometimes we hurt the ones we love and inevitably, ourselves in the process. CALM leaves the band in a much happier, unified and calm state of mind to continue making albums for years to come.”

The band recently announced the North American leg of the No Shame 2020 Tour which will kick off with a trio of dates in Mexico.

Ahead of arriving in the US, 5 Seconds Of Summer return to the UK for headline shows in May, including London’s The SSE Wembley Arena.

The band’s first single from CALM, “Easier,” landed a spot on Billboard’s list of the 100 Best Songs of 2019.

5SOS is the only band (not vocal group) in chart history to see its first three full-length studio albums enter the Billboard 200 at No. 1.

Across their catalog, 5SOS has sold more than 9.6 million equivalent album units and sold over two million concert tickets worldwide, while cumulative streams of their songs now surpass seven billion.

The band – comprising Luke Hemmings (vocals/guitar), Michael Clifford (vocals/guitar), Calum Hood (vocals/bass) and Ashton Irwin (vocals/drums) – has been recognized with an array of prestigious accolades including an American Music Award, a People’s Choice Award, two iHeartRadio Music Awards, eight MTV European Music Awards, five ARIA Awards, two APRA, and two MTV Video Music Awards.

More!

Hailing from the outskirts of Sydney, 5 Seconds of Summer (5SOS) – comprising Luke Hemmings (vocals/guitar), Michael Clifford (vocals/guitar), Calum Hood (vocals/bass) and Ashton Irwin (vocals/drums) – got their start forging a sound that brought pure punk energy to pop music.

Within just a few years they became a global phenomenon, then defied all expectation on their third album Youngblood, a 2018 release that made them the only band in Billboard 200 history to see its first three studio albums debut at No. 1.

Now, with their fourth full-length on the way, 5SOS push into even bolder sonic terrain, realizing their vision with more impact and intensity than ever before.

In the making of the upcoming album, 5SOS focused on further expanding their sound.

“We’re fascinated with incorporating this very industrial-type musicality into what we’re doing as a band,” says Irwin. At the same time, the band assumed a greater complexity in their lyrics. “Even if we’re writing about something beautiful, we always try to put some sort of dark twist on it so that the song has our own unique stamp,” says Hemmings.

Along with adding more emotional weight to each track, that approach lends a whole new durability to their music.

“These new songs feel like something we could keep playing for the next ten years, or even beyond that,” says Hood. “It feels like our first album—like we finally found what we’d been trying to achieve since the beginning of this band.”
