I was eleven when I got my first guitar, though not eating, saving up my dinner money for three months and putting it towards my Christmas money. I tried to make it when I was young, did the usual holiday camp Summer Season bit at Butlins, but failed 😦 but tried again five years ago and ‘much better this time. I have written over 50 songs now, of which 36 are being played in shops via Emerge and on many radio stations. I have also had 25,000 streams on my 3 Christmas songs. I also have songs with Music Of The Sea.

State your reason for choosing music as a career.

Hearing a song as a kid and it instantly has an effect on you. Wow, what was that, I want to do that.

.

.

.

Tell us how you write the lyrics to your song.

I was always the kid that would do a three page story in my Primary School while other kids struggled with half a page. Lucky. Having said that I was in the bottom class. 😦 So writing isn’t that hard for me, lucky.

.

.

.

Tell us about your life outside the music world.

I’m an electrician, which enables me to promote my music. Before I wrote over 50 songs I did have a life. All my time now is spent promoting my songs. I party every Saturday night then back to it, but as a ‘working bee’, I can do it, kind of enjoy it. 🙂

.

.

.

Brief us about your music career.

I tried to make it when I was a teenager, summer season at Butlins, but failed. I’m back with good songs this time and you are only as good as the song you are singing and I want to be acknowledged as a songwriter.

.

.

.

Elaborate on how you come about your artist’s name.

It’s my name. I say the J is for joker but it is ‘James’.

.

.

.

List your favourite music video with reason.

Bruno Mars, ‘Uptown Funk’. ‘Impossible, spending too much time’.

.

.

.

Tell us your source of inspiration.

Music inspires me to try and make music.

.

.

.

Tell us your impression on dealing with paparazzi.

Very hard, I keep chasing after them but every time they get away. 🙂

.

.

.

Elaborate on the A-Z process of this song.

I get a bit of the tune and a bit of the title, then I spend about three weeks thinking about it, writing down catchy lines every day, then I will sit down with about thirty sheets of ‘rewrites’, and put the song together like a jigsaw, (lot of work, hope it shows.).

.

.

.

Tell us what you have on the way for your fans.

This summer I hope to have a great band, but I think Promo comes first. And I am not aware I have any fans. 😦

.

.

.

List the names of those that have supported you so far.

I have some great music mates; I talk to a lot, but in this business you are on your own, your decision on the song, the arrangement, the YouTube, the Promo etc. Okay, alright, my mum.

.

.

.

Tell us your opinion on the use of auto-tune.

If my producer has auto-tune; it must have been broken when I was there.

.

.

.

Tell us your opinion on quality and quantity in terms of releasing songs.

I am using the ‘cheese system’, give them just a few songs and hopefully that will tempt them back to my ‘lair’ of songs, hee, hee.

.

.

.

Tell us your opinion on comparing music career to non-music career.

If you have a music career you must constantly ‘Chant the Mantra’; it is far better to give than to receive.

.

.

.

State the genre you hate most with reason.

It’s never about the genre, if a song is good it can be in any genre and it will be a good listen, it’s not easy to write a ‘good’ song in any genre.

.

.

.

List your five favourite movies with reasons.

Anything funny. Loved Jack Black in ‘Rock School’. Don’t do ‘violence’. I was gutted when ‘ Friends’ on T.V. came to an end.
