Lyrics:

Verse 1

I’ve been looking for somebody,

tryna kick it with somebody

I need a rude boy to tell me something sweet same time got his hands up on my body

I wanna get high when he take it low low,

make me feel strong when I’m taking control

I’ve been looking for my shawty,

so come and get it if you got it

Pre-Chorus

All my girls round the world I know you know what I mean,

I get little sexy when I’m lonely,

one thing on my mind,

I know what I need

All my girls round the world,

hands up and sing it with me coz

everything I got you know it’s all me,

even though a man ain’t something I need

Chorus

I wanna boyfriend, so put it on me

I’m looking for a man who can take that heat

Wanna boyfriend, but not too sweet,

My baby gotta be tough while he running that street

Is he ride or die?

I’ve been looking so long for a guy, to turn me on

I want a boyfriend, yeh yeh

I want a boyfriend, yeh yeh

I be looking like,

Where you at, where you at ?

Where you at, where you at ?

Where you at, where you at ?

Where you at, where you at ?

Verse 2

I need you and me together

I ain’t looking for forever

I had so much stress from my ex to the next

Want you better, love me better

I need a bad boy that don’t bring me drama

He aint tryna roll when he get the nah nah

Boy you ready for the pleasure?

And don’t you know its now or never

The latest artist to bring a fresh new take on the soul and pop genres is the talented singer and songwriter, Rene Byrd. A driven musician with a powerful voice, her heartfelt lyrics are set to touch listeners across the globe.

Rene Byrd’s passion for singing began from a very young age when she participated in numerous talent contests namely an inter-college competition based in London which nurtured stars like Daniel and Natasha Bedingfield. These successfully placed her as one of the top talents in the UK.

At the age of 14, Rene joined a band as a backup vocalist, paving the way for her career in the music industry. A star was born.

Rene is third generation West Indian and she comes from a religious and musical background.

Her father was a music producer and her uncle is a Gospel singer, now internationally known as ‘Bishop John Francis,’ whose choir sang for HRH Majesty the Queen at the Royal Variety Show. John Francis also had a gospel TV show broadcasted on Channel 4, called ‘People Get Ready.’ Rene recalls that it ‘was a regular occurrence to see my uncle on TV and he inspired me to sing. His voice is amazing!’

‘One of my most vivid memories as a child was being side-stage at an open-air concert in London. I watched Sade, Sting and Tracey Chapman perform and it blew me away. Something inside made me run on to the stage and grab the mic and spoke to the crowd. Thankfully security just let me be then guided me back to my seat and from that day it was a clear sign that the stage was my home.

Through my experiences and observation of others in love, sadness, hope, and joy my first album was born. It’s surreal being an artist. Not one day is the same and there is so much to consider writing good songs that connect with your audience, your image, and your performance… the list is endless.

I believe in hard work and dedication and I’m involved in all aspects of my brand; from overseeing the final cut of my songs to the artwork on the CD.’

Some of Rene’s past performances and guest appearances include a show at the world-famous Elstree Film Studios, the TG Foundation’s charity event featuring Lady Gaga’s designer Vera Thordardottir, Haute Couture Fashion Week in Paris and ’Live at Delancey Street, Performance for BET America with Traci Ellis Ross for her show ’Read Between the Lines.’ An electric night with Rene Byrd at Annabel’s Private Members Club in Mayfair London. Her performance at the National Art Gallery for the Prime Minister of Lithuania accompanied by band members that work with George Michael and Emeli Sandé.

Roy Francis (Roy Francis Productions) will work to promote Rene in both the UK and American markets; they have been responsible for producing shows and appearances for acts such as Michelle Williams (Destiny Child), Mary Mary and Trey Songz. Tez-lee Rene’s younger brother, UK’s answer to Usher has also performed alongside Rene and produced numerous tracks for her album.

Rene has recently become involved in ‘Teens Unite’ the charity founded by Karen Millen OBE and is an ambassador for ‘The Nelson Mandela Children’s Fund.’

She recently got involved with Target Ovarian Cancer Charity to help to create awareness and aid fundraising. She works with Rochay Elite who provides intelligence and services to the Ultra High Net Worth and Super Rich consisting of the UK & Global Rich List in the Luxury Sector.

Rene Byrd has teamed up with numerous inspiring international businesses to help endorse their brands through her image. Among these brands are Fashion Fair Cosmetics part of Johnson Publishing USA; they publish ‘Ebony Magazine and Jet the most successful African American lifestyle magazines, Sonata Luxury Lingerie line as featured in ‘Vogue’ Katherine Elizabeth (London-based Milliner who designed for Dita Von Teese), Luxury shoe designer Aruna Seth as worn by Pippa Middleton at the marriage of HRH, Save Your Soles, Convopiece showcasing innovative and unique watch brands with exquisite luxury, La Diosa London based Luxury Jewellery who have designed pieces for Oprah, Michelle Obama and HRH Duchess of Cambridge, Aiisha Ramadan Dubai based designer and her style consultant.

.

.

.

Tell us your source of inspiration.

I am inspired by my life and the observation of others. The journey of life has many twists and turns highs and lows; my greatest source is watching life unfold. I also come from a musical family.

My father was in a band that was signed to RCA Records in the 1980s and my uncle is internationally known as ‘Bishop John Francis,’ whose choir sung for HRH Majesty the Queen at the Royal Variety Show.

My uncle had a gospel TV show broadcasted on Channel 4 called ‘People Get Ready.’ It was a regular occurrence to see both my father and my uncle on the TV, so naturally, both inspired me to sing.

.

.

.

Discuss how you develop your music style.

I grew up listening and watching some of the most iconic artists of this era to name a few; Michael Jackson, Whitney Houston, Billy Holiday the list is endless.

I will literally sit and watch and copy the sound, the mood their vocals which would sometimes bring me to tears, their talent was overwhelming and displayed total excellence.

My musical background and family had great influence on how I developed my music style, it was a regular occurrence to hear R&B, Soul, Gospel, Funk, Latin, Reggae, Jazz and Pop on vinyl, which gave me the opportunity to be exposed at a very young age to the very best music has to offer.

.

.

.

Elaborate on multi-genre music.

My understanding of multi-genre music is music that doesn’t fall into one music category; so, an artist’s song could be both rap and pop and folk for instance. I love this as music is self-expression.

.

.

.

Tell us the best means of reaching fans.

The world is much smaller, thanks to the invention of the Internet and especially the explosion of social media.

Social media was a god-sent for me to engage in real-time with my fans on a global scale. I must admit as new technology moves so fast; this can be hard to keep up with the newest trend.

I decided to stick to social media platforms such as Instagram, Facebook, and Twitter, these have been my biggest ways to connect and reach fans all around the world.

.

.

.

Discuss the process involved in launching a musical career.

The music industry is not for the fainthearted, so you must be extremely thick-skinned to navigate the very competitive landscape.

There is no hard and fast rule but have a great song that you believe in, think about what message you want to covey, your story, your audience, your image.

Put together a team of people you can trust, so they can help with the numerous roles required to help launch your career.

Find great producers to help create your musical masterpiece, a manager to help with your representation, locate venues and opportunities to perform/gig.

Network like crazy, it’s not what you are, it’s who you know! Remove any trace of ego learn how to take constructive critic this industry is ruthless, so you must learn this early on in your career.

Perseverance is key there will be many disappointments and rejections but never let this stop your drive and focus; many of the most successful artists in the world were rejected but now they are multi-million selling artists.

.

.

.

Tell us how to develop a lyric to a full song.

I usually start with a story then a melody and then a hook – a catchy chorus.

.

.

.

Tell us how you come up with a melody.

I find a melody that works with the story for a fast song, the melody will usually have movement. If the song is a ballad (slow song) the melody is relaxed and soothing.

.

.

.

Tell us your ideal type of recording studio.

Homely environment, preferably near water, beach or river, with a chef, bar and sleeping quarter, total bliss.

The most advanced technical gear and equipment and enough space for a band or orchestra, a control room and vocal booth.

.

.

.

Describe the factors you consider in a good song.

Strong melody, great hook and memorable…

.

.

.

Tell us how you impact your listeners with your songs.

I write and sing songs from the heart, sharing my experiences and observation of others in love, sadness, hope, and joy.

.

.

.

Tell us how you interact with producers and music directors.

I work with some amazing producers and very talented music directors.

I just let creativity flow organically. There is something that happens when the mood is right, a connection between you and the producers that moment which takes your breath away.

The best music is created when off the cuff, real and in the moment cosmic, heavenly out of this world.

My main producers are my brothers and cousin, so the family connection has even more impact there, is an element of trust and safety knowing they want the very best for you.

.

.

.

Tell us how you feel after the completion of a song.

I usually cry when I listen to the final mix, I have a feeling of excitement and a sense of relief knowing I can move on to the next part of the process.

.

.

.

Tell us your worst song and state the reason.

I am my biggest critic so sometimes when I listen back to a recording, I will literally pull it apart. I want my offering to be the very best version of myself.

I would say my worst song was when I first started to write, I listen back to them now and cringe, as they were not my best, they lacked the fundamentals of a great song. Thankfully I am much better now.

.

.

.

Tell us what you will change in your music.

Music does not stand still; it is like a circle. I want to do my best to stay current, innovative, and honest in my music.

.

.

.

Tell us what is special about this release.

It was a long journey to get to this release with many obstacles and blocks. This release and the amazing positive global support made it all worth it and the support has been priceless.

.

.

.

Tell us about your future goals.

Complete my album, release more music and start touring.

.

.

.

Tell us how you overcome obstacles.

You have one life and whilst you are here on this earth you must do what makes your soul come alive.

I would be lying to you if I said this career path is easy, but nothing worth having comes without many trials and tribulations. You will face great moments and hard rejections, but all those things are designed to make you stronger, wiser, and more determined to succeed.

You must train your mindset to be positive and see every opportunity good or bad to grow. Be prepared to give this life your best shot.

.

.

.

Elaborate on the song.

A cover song rendition of the classic song originally performed by Billy Preston and Syreeta, ‘Born Again’ tells the story of new beginnings and feeling complete through love and romance.

.

.

.

Elaborate on your artist’s name and the title of the album.

My artist name ‘Rene’ which is my legal middle name and means ‘in French ‘Born Again’which is the title of my new single, call it destiny! My second name is ‘Byrd’ like a bird that sings in the trees; my name is ‘Rene Byrd.’

Just days before her highly anticipated GRAMMY performance, Rosalía has once again surprised fans by adding another standout track to her prolific string of unexpected one-off song releases across the last year.

With “JURO QUE” (I Swear That), the groundbreaking flamenco & global pop fusion artist emotionally returns to her musical roots with a straight-up flamenco torch song, longing for the love of her life that was taken from her side and is now separated by prison walls.

Lyrics:

Que ya lleva mi niño preso más de cuatrocientos días / That my guy has been imprisoned for more than four hundred days

Le tenía abrazado en la cama cuando llegó la policía / I had him in my arms in bed when the police arrived

Ni un beso pude darle de despedida y eso me arde / I couldn’t kiss him goodbye and that’s burning me

Juro que, juro que, juro que, juro que / I swear that, I swear that, I swear that, I swear that

El tiempo que tu estés dentro yo te esperaré / The time you are inside I will wait for you

El tiempo que tu estés dentro yo te esperaré / The time you are inside I will wait for you

Lyrics:

You were with your friends

partying

when the alcohol kicked in

say you wanted me dead

so you show up at my home

all alone

with a shovel and rose

do you think I’m a joke

people like you always want back

what they cant have

cuz I’m past that

and you know that

so you can go back

to your rat pack

tell em I’m trash

tell all of your friends that I’m crazy

and drive you mad

that I’m such a stalker, a watcher

a psychopath

and tell them u hate me and dated

me just for laughs

so why do you call me and tell me

you want me back — you maniac.

you just went too far

wrecked your car

call me crying in the dark

now you’re breaking my heart

so I show up at your place

right away

wipe the tears off of your face

while you beg me to stay, well

people like you always want back

what they cant have

but I’m past that

and you know that

so you should turn back

to your rat pack

tell em I’m trash

tell all of your friends that I’m crazy

and drive you mad

that I’m such a stalker, a watcher

a psychopath

and tell them u hate me and dated

me just for laughs

so why do you call me and tell me

you want me back — you maniac.

psychopathic, don’t be so dramatic

we had magic, but you made it tragic

now you’re manic, honestly, I’ve had it

listen to yourself, think you need to get some help

tell all of your friends that I’m crazy

and drive you mad

that I’m such a stalker, a watcher

a psychopath

and tell them u hate me and dated

me just for laughs

so why do you call me and tell me

you want me back — you maniac.

More!

By the age of 19, the powerfully voiced, BRIT School-educated Ella Eyre had already been featured on a U.K. number one single.

“Waiting All Night” combined an intense performance from Eyre with the inventive production skills of fellow Londoners Rudimental. Issued to coincide with the drum’n’bass act’s debut album Home – also an instant number one record – the success of both releases was reinforced by Eyre’s involvement in a spring 2013 Rudimental U.K. tour.

While “Waiting All Night” wasn’t her first appearance on record, it raised Eyre’s profile and also helped to vindicate Universal’s decision to sign her to their newly established Virgin EMI label. Those who were in anticipation of her debut solo material in the meantime sought out Other People’s Heartache, Pt. 2; a 2012 download-only mixtape by rising London alt-rock act Bastille that featured Eyre on two tracks: “No Angels” and “Free.”

Her own singles soon began to hit the charts, including 2013’s “Deeper” and a pair of Top 20 hits in 2014, “If I Go” and “Comeback.”

By the end of the year, Eyre had finished work on her debut full-length Feline, featuring an array of producers (Ilya, DJ Fresh, Sigma, Sigala). The album appeared in February 2015, peaking at number four in the British chart; soon after, the single “Together” became her third Top 20 hit in less than a year. A 2017 collaborative single with Sigala called “We Came Here for Love” arrived in early 2017, reaching number six on the U.K. charts. “Ego” later followed which featured Ty Dolla $ign.

Also in 2017, Eyre took part on the Artists for Grenfell charity recording of “Bridge Over Troubled Water.”

Equipped with nothing more than Garageband and a cheap microphone taped to a lamp, Conan released his song “Idle Town” on his YouTube channel as an ode to his hometown of Georgetown, Texas.

“Idle Town” went viral, and he later joined forces with Los Angeles based producer Dan Nigro to complete his Sunset Season EP, featuring singles “Generation Why” and “Crush Culture”. The EP debuted on November 2018 to widespread critical acclaim from The Fader, Billboard, and Ones To Watch, amongst others.

In January 2019, Conan made his television debut on Late Night with Seth Meyers, before opening for Panic at the Disco! for several shows on their arena tour.

Conan has sold out two North American headline tours and his most recent May 2019 European tour.

Recently called the ‘Prince of Pop’ by MTV, he will perform at Lollapalooza in Chicago and Life is Beautiful this summer before headlining his next North American tour in the fall. Paper Magazine, I-D Magazine and The Sunday Times have featured Conan.

Award-winning guitarist and composer Komie has already enjoyed a successful career creating music for hundreds of hit shows including Ozzy Osbourne’s World Detour, The Voice, NASCAR, Dateline, Late Show With Stephen Colbert and The Amazing Race.

His music has been featured in advertising campaigns for Diane Von Furstenberg, Bailey’s Irish Creme, Six Flags and Coca-Cola (amongst others) and has won several Emmy Awards for best music, 3 BMI TV Music Awards and a Clio nod along the way. But despite all of these accomplishments, Komie desired something more: to produce projects made purely for the art of it. No boundaries except one — they had to express the deepest part of his artistry at the highest level possible.

Komie’s first single of 2019, Aurora Dawning (Featuring Idrise) is a sweeping, melodic and inspiring pop-rock song featuring the talented up-and-coming vocalist, Idrise. The single follows Komie’s well-received instrumental album, Afterglow.

Aurora Dawning draws inspiration from Afterglow, but the single’s vocal component sets it apart from the latter. The song pays homage to the Aurora Borealis, the magical celestial events that famously occur near the Arctic and Antarctic regions.

Komie, in a characteristically thoughtful and metaphysically inspired tone, poetically conveys the interplay between star-crossed lovers amidst an emotively dramatic backdrop of stellar guitar playing…

Tell us about your future music projects.

I’m currently recording new songs for the upcoming album, Kaleidoscope, which gets its name from the diverse styles and sounds that will share the album. The plan is to release a single every month or two, then release the full album early next year.

Tell us if you will change the style of your music to get signed. Nope; unless of course, they throw in a Maserati…

No, not even then – Seriously.

.

.

.

Elaborate on this song.

The brand new single, When I Close My Eyes (I Still Can See You) is a driving, haunting pop-rock song featuring the passionate, powerful vocals of Idrise coupled with the innovative guitar textures of Komie. The song is the first of Komie’s material to feature lyrics co-written by Ira Besserman and Komie.

After the love of his life leaves him, the song’s rejected romantic, in a fit of epic masochism, he visits Paris and retraces the steps he had once taken with his beguiling former lover. Haunted, he sees her everywhere he looks…but in a blink she’s gone. His heartache is only intensified by the City Of Love and the gorgeous sights seen once again, but this time without her. Back home and emotionally drained, he finds what he least expected…

.

.

.

Tell us if you have a guideline or standard set for your music production.

I’ve been producing professional-grade music for TV and film for years now, so I definitely have a process for making sure the production is as good as it can be. A big thing for me is stepping away from the song/mix for a bit, then coming back with fresh ears and seeing how things feel. I can usually tell right away what needs improving and what sounds great. So it’s kind of a back and forth between being the songwriter/producer/mixer and a listener.

.

.

.

Tell us your preparation for a live performance and how you make sure the quality of sound is high.

It all comes down to playing with great musicians, practice and rehearse your ass off, and hiring a good monitor and house mixer, that’s the key.

.

.

.

Discuss how to live healthily.

Great question! For me, it comes down to healthy eating (lots of veggies), exercise (I play basketball and lift weights at least three times a week), and definitely writing music. When I’m creating in my studio I feel a great flow of energy, kinda like a life force that feels healthy and vibrant, it’s really therapeutic for me.

.

.

.

Tell us if you are in control of your performance or you are still learning.

I’m always learning! I think that’s the key to always growing as a musician. Yes, I’m in control of my performance but that doesn’t mean I’m there. I don’t ever want to be “there”, that’s no fun. It’s a continual journey of self-exploration and self-improvement; musical skills, production skills, mixing skills, business and promotion, content creation, video, art. To be an indie artist these days you really need them all, or at least have an understanding of the concepts to effectively collaborate with people.

.

.

.

Tell us that precious moment you chose music as a career.

I was a junior in high school and couldn’t put the guitar down, it was nuts. My parents wanted me to go to college and become a doctor, lawyer blah blah. I looked them in the eye and told them the only way I’m going to college was if I could major in music. They went along with it thank God…

.

.

.

Tell us the greatest feedback you have ever received on a song of yours.

Well, it was more for an album, Afterglow got some amazing reviews. A couple of my favourite quotes from the reviews:

“Afterglow is truly a beautiful album…the sheer inspiration and colourful feelings of hope that define this album are undeniably striking and mesmerizing…This album is an artistic triumph.”

-The Prog Mind

“Afterglow is filled with incredibly tasteful playing and great songs,” and “there are so many great moments that each time I listen, I hear more of them… this is how it’s DONE.”

–Progressive Music Planet

.

.

.

Tell us your side interest apart from music.

Lately I don’t have time for much else; producing an album is intense and immersive! Hmm, sleep maybe? Definitely food…Time with my fiancée, that’s an important one.

.

.

.

Tell us the artists that influenced you.

OMG! Where do I start?

Jimi, Jimmy Page, Stevie Ray Vaughan, Eric Johnson, The Eagles, Yes, John Mayer, early Train, Switchfoot, Coldplay…That’s just the tip of the iceberg…

.

.

.

Tell us if you prefer singing as a solo artist to collaborating with others.

Well, I sing backgrounds but not really lead vocal. I write and produce the songs, play all the instruments except drums, and sing backgrounds. So I always collaborate with a lead singer.

.

.

.

Tell us the full details of this song.

I wrote, arranged, produced, mixed the track and played all the instruments. Idrise sang lead and background vocals, Perrin York and I sang background vocals as well.

.

.

.

Tell us the organization you will set up to fight a cause and state your reason for fighting the cause.

I love animals, so it would probably be something to protect them.

.

.

.

Describe your mood while performing.

It varies! We’re humans not machines, sometimes you’re not even in the mood to play but the show must go on, right? Once the music starts, however, everything melts away and you just get into the music, live in the moment.

.

.

.

Tell us the mistakes to avoid in the music business.

I would need twenty pages to do that. I would say do your research and take your career in your own hands, don’t rely too much on others. Knowledge is power for sure.

.

.

.

Tell us your opinion on smoking, health is wealth but people still smoke.

It’s bad and smells terrible, I hate it.

.

.

.

State your artist’s name and elaborate on it.

Komie. It’s my last name.

.

.

.

State the title of the song and the meaning.

When I Close My Eyes (I Still Can See You): he keeps seeing his former lover all over Paris, yet she’s not really there, he’s imagining it. Her lovely memory is haunting him every time he closes his eyes.

.

.

.

State the title of the album and the reason for choosing the title.

Well, it’s a working title, not finalized, but it’s Kaleidoscope. I chose this title because the songs on it are going to be very diverse in sound and style, lots of different colours on the album, so I thought this title fits perfectly

GENRE:  Pop

KTEE has been singing since the moment she spoke her first word and hasn’t stopped since.

Countless hours of her childhood were spent in her tiny room in Maria Neustift (Austria), her home town. This is where she trained her voice on her own, relying only on her mother’s bulky red tape recorder. One pop song after another was recorded, listened to, analyzed and re-sung until she was fully satisfied with the sound. In fact, 102 recordings were collected on her treasured cassettes to the point of breaking – literally.

Heavily influenced by her parents’ desire to see her with a degree that offered “proper career prospects” KTEE studied at the University of Vienna where she continued working on her singing skills – this time without her tape recorder and not at all alone. She not only had voice coaches to help with voice training but also roommates and neighbours to annoy with her “gugugus” and “nenenenes” in other words singing exercises. Once, her “understanding” neighbours even threatened to call the police for noise disturbance! – But she couldn’t and wouldn’t be stopped.

It wasn’t the university atmosphere, but her everlasting, internal yearning to sing that led her to move to Vienna.

Shortly thereafter, she successfully qualified in a singing competition (The Voice), which can be viewed as kind of the beginning of her career, since she got to know her present producer there.

After living abroad (Ireland), where she discovered her passion for songwriting, the urge to really make it big in the music industry was stronger than ever before and the search for her musical identity started anew.

“It took some time until I found my place in the world of music, but I never stopped following my dream and now I am more than happy to share who I am with the rest of the world.”

2016 KTEE released her powerful debut single ‘Rock your life.’ The message is clear: Live in the here and now! It’s your life, don’t waste precious time! Simply rock your life!

Her second single (2017) ‘Rollercoaster’ became semi-finalist of the ISC 2017 (International Songwriting Competition). In this song, KTEE compares a rollercoaster ride with the ups and downs one experiences in a romantic relationship.

In February 2018 KTEE released her third single ‘So What’ and for which she got airplay on some UK radio stations. This song reflects the singer’s own development from a shy child full of self-doubts to a woman who knows her own mind and is strong and confident. ‘So What’ became her life motto. “Do what you love, haters gonna hate anyway. Follow your dreams, stay strong. And if you fall, stand up, shake off the dust and keep going.”

– KTEE.

In January 2019 her single “Melody” was released in which she uses MUSIC as a metaphor for love. Melody also became semi-finalist of the ISC. The song got airplay in Germany, England, and Switzerland.

In July 2019 her current single “Rich” was released. The catchy mood-lifting song is easy to sing and dance to and by singing “I am rich when I feel alive…”  KTEE encourages young people to value the moments in their lives that do not cost a thing.

 .

.

.

State your reason for choosing music as a career.

It wasn’t a choice, it was a necessity. Music has always been my life, as a kid, I practiced singing to Celine Dion songs using a brush as a microphone. The music business is a tough business, so I think no one would choose this career for money reasons, but only for “passion-reasons.”

.

.

.

Tell us how you write the lyrics to your song.

I used a pen and paper. 😉 No, well we were talking about how sad it is that we are all manipulated by ads and media telling us what we need to own/buy in order to be happy. And that having a lot of money doesn’t necessarily mean that you are “rich.” It’s the people, the places, the experiences, the ups, and downs…that make you rich!

.

.

.

Discuss your life outside the music world.

There is no life outside the music world – seriously! Everything I say and do is music-related. Okay, sometimes, when I want to give my brain a break, I watch TV series or read a Psychothriller.

.

.

.

Discuss your music career.

I started singing when I was a kid, at first I practiced in my room, where I made a lot of mistakes (wrong technique), then I took singing lessons, took part at competitions and finally found my producer and a team I love working with. As I said, the music business is tough, I fell so many times, cried many times, but never gave up. I am still fighting and my biggest wish is to reach my musical goals!

.

.

.

Elaborate on your artist’s name.

Nothing special about my artist name – My “real name” is Katharina, my nickname is Katy and I wanted it to look more special, so I chose KTEE :), looks cool and sounds a bit different, as the stress is placed on the second syllable.

.

.

.

List your five favourite music videos with reasons.

Sia- Chandelier: The performance of the girl is just incredible. Really talented!

Ariana Grande- Into you: I love the story (the secret romance with the bodyguard); I also like the look (colours).

Michael Jackson – Thriller: His dance moves are legendary. And I love the 80ies.

Jessie J- Not My Ex: It’s so simple, but yet so powerful.

KTEE – Melody: The first video I directed cut myself and I am really proud of it.

.

.

.

Tell us your source of inspiration.

My current mood, the conversations I had with people, experiences I or other people have passed through… these are some of the things I am inspired by. In addition, I need coffee, red bull and the pressure of creating a masterpiece.

.

.

.

Tell us your experience of dealing with fans.

I love it when people love my music. It makes me happy to hear when one of my songs inspired other people or helped them in a difficult situation or just makes them want to dance. I always try to answer all the messages and questions they ask and of course treat them with respect.

.

.

.

Elaborate on the recording of this song.

I love experimenting with my producer in the studio. The good thing is that my producer owns one of Austria’s biggest studios, that means we have plenty of time to really try out sounds and grooves.

.

.

.

State your future projects.

I am working on my first album and new singles. The next release is planned for October 19. Of course, I plan to play as many concerts as possible and write as many songs as possible. There is always something to do. That’s what I love about this job. It never gets boring.

.

.

.

List the names of those that have supported you so far.

My team, my band, people who listen to my music and some radio stations. Thanks!

.

.

.

Tell us your point of view on vocal tuning.

I think it is okay to use e.g. auto-tune if it is part of the overall sound. However, I think it’s not cool if it’s necessary to use auto-tune because of the singer’s inability to stay in tune.

.

.

.

Tell us your thought on quality and quantity for the release of songs.

I think both are important. However, for me personally, quality is more important than quantity. I would be so unhappy if I would have to release something I am not 100% satisfied with. Of course, an artist shouldn’t be too slow either. Nowadays it is very important to regularly release new music…otherwise you can soon be forgotten.

.

.

.

Tell us your viewpoint on comparing music career to non-music career.

In most non-music jobs, you get your monthly salary and you know what to expect. Being a musician means that you never know what happens next. On the one hand, this is kind of exciting because no day is like the other, but on the other hand, it can also be very frustrating and even scary, because…well, you never know that is going to happen or NOT happen next…

.

.

.

Tell us your opinion on categorizing music into genres and sub-genres.

Well, of course, it is useful to categorize music, especially when it comes to playlists. I wouldn’t want to have heavy metal songs in my favourite playlists.

However, I ask questions like “how would you describe your music”. I always say “Listen to it, and then you know it.”

.

.

.

State the genre you despise most with reason.

Heavy metal…Reason – I just cannot stand the electric guitar sounds, the beats, and the voices. I cannot listen to a heavy metal band for more than two minutes.

.

.

.

List your five favourite movies with reasons.

Dirty Dancing: I’ve seen it about ten times and it just reminds me of my childhood.

Seven Pounds: It’ so sad, but so good – I couldn’t stop crying while watching it.

Friends: It’s not a film but a sitcom. It’s just so funny!

American Horror Story: Also not a movie, but a TV series: It’s really brutal but so thrilling! I couldn’t stop watching it.

German comedies: I love most of them. Especially films produced by Mathias Schweighöfer or Til Schwaiger.

.

.

.

State the title of the song and the meaning.

It’s called RICH. However, the song does not deal with her wearing “bling-bling” or having a big house and money in her pockets. In the song, KTEE celebrates her personal moments of happiness with the realization that “being rich” can have a lot of different meanings.

We are constantly told what we need to own in order to be happy and we are blinded by all of the things that we are supposed to have while being too blind to see what is right in front of us.

People tend to focus on things they cannot have instead of seeing and valuing the little joyful moments in their lives – the smile of a friend, a warm summer evening, making music, etc. “I am rich when I feel alive” – says KTEE and encourages young people to value the moments in their lives that do not cost a thing.
