Discuss your existence.
My name is Vince Azure, an NYC-based independent recording artist. I’m looking to shake up the world – to connect and inspire people through songs that are genuine, evocative, and yet appealing enough to become anthems. Ambitious…Yes, it is.

State your favorite genre of music and your reason.
Pop, for its ability to take you so high and yet so low…

Tell us your experience as a musician.
I’ve been endeavoring independently as a musician for a few years now in NYC writing, recording, and honing my craft. I’ve performed in places ranging from Los Angeles to Paris.
Recently, I just released demos of new music that are undoubtedly my best yet and I’m very excited for the world to hear them.

Tell us the theme of your song.
HOMEWRECKER is about a man who’s in the midst of a sexual encounter with a married woman. He feels conflicted and guilty about the situation, and gets intimately involved with the woman…

Name the people behind your success and thank them on this platform.
When I say I’m independent, I mean that sincerely… I’ve done everything myself over the years and though this has served me, I now recognize that it’s time to branch out and meet the people who can take me to the next level.
However, I feel compelled to thank Vincent R. Illuzzi, Stephanie Illuzzi, Christian Illuzzi, Zack Reale, Devin Hasenflue, Rob Carroll, Kevin Jacoby, Christian Cepeda, Alicia Halloran, and Nicole Rutsch for their unwavering support.

Tell us your future goals.
My next step is partnering with a manager who shares my vision and sees my true potential… after that, it’s taking my music and sharing it with the world in the spirit of connecting people and sharing in the human experience.

Elaborate on how you think your music is inspiring your fans.
I aspire for my music to be 100% genuine. It’s based on my real-life experiences and I write to reach people in the hope that they’ve felt the same way at some point during their lives and that they can relate.
Most of my music carries a positive message and tells the listeners to be good and follow their dreams.

Analyze the transformations you have discovered so far in the music industry.
The music industry is in a constant state of flux these days and I find that it’s becoming increasingly hard for artists to gain exposure, but simultaneously the opportunities we have are ever more copious. It’s an interesting paradox.

State the artists you cherish most and your reason.
The Beatles will always be my number 1. They are the reason I play music. When I was a teenager I was also influenced profoundly by Guns n’ Roses, Jimi Hendrix and John Mayer, among others…
These days the artists who inspire and influence me the most are: Coldplay, The 1975, James Bay, Maroon 5, Thirty Seconds To Mars, and Imagine Dragons.

Elaborate on how you develop your lyrics.
My songs usually start as themes that I’d like to expand on… usually, I’ll start with a title. And then I’ll let the details unfold organically depending on my personal experience with the subject that I’m writing about.
Usually, I’ll come up with music that fits the mood of the theme, and then the lyrics will come to me along the way.

Tell us if you enjoy collaborating with other artists or just singing as a solo artist.
Up until now, I have been very insular with my music because it is very personal to me. Thus, I haven’t collaborated much with other artists.
I’m now seeing the importance collaboration holds for growing as a songwriter and an artist in general and I’d like to do much more of it.

Brief us your opinion on making music that makes people dance or making the music with a genuine message that inspires them.
For me, the music has to be genuine. If it makes them dance, then it’s a plus.

Explain copyright.
I am the sole copyright owner of all my compositions.

Discuss the impact of a Performance Rights Organization.
I’m with ASCAP. They do their job.

Elaborate on how you develop your melody and instrumentation.
These things come about organically as the song develops in my head.
Again, it’s all about the sonic imagery that I want to conjure up that’s related to the theme and mood of the particular song.

Go into detail on the recording of this song.
‘Homewrecker’ is a heavy song that will get stuck in your ear and its melodies and rhythms cut right into you.
It prominently features a synth bass that provides the main riff for the song. I’m pretty proud of that riff. That provided the basis for the recording.

Discuss your music performance.
I aspire to give 110% every time I take the stage. I was born to perform music.

State your artist’s name and elaborate on it.
My artist’s name is VINCE AZURE (azh-er). Get it in your head now. 😉

State the title of the album and the reason for choosing the title.
2019 Demos – Pt. 1 –  Homewrecker was released as the first installment of a series of demos that I’ll be releasing throughout 2019. I have recorded and produced everything myself, and while that serves me for now, I am currently looking to work with a producer that can bring out the sonic vision that I have in my head.
