Tell us everything will need to know about you.
Hip hop artist from Southfield, Michigan. Been in the music scene for 15 years, been in love with music for 20. My interest in rap evolved as I was raised in the culture. What sparked my pursuit of a career in music was my series of drunk and high freestyles that gained traction at the parties I threw.
State your favorite genre of music and your reason.
Jazz and early hip hop
Jazz because I’ve always been a fan of soulful melodies.
Hip hop in the 90s and early 2000 because it actually had a subject matter outside of drugs, material wealth, and fucking bitches.
Tell us your experience as a musician.
My experience as a musician started when I was 12 years old, I played the alto sax in the marching band. It was at that age I started a rap group in 6th grade called the Young Macks…I was the only rapper, though.
Tell us the theme of your song.
2 AM (Your Love) is about all the exes I ever had. There comes a point when your mind is at ease and you make space for the things and people you miss. 2 AM (Your Love) is that.
Name the people behind your success and thank them on this platform.
Matt Jones, Cam Jones, A.B., Blair Glover, Kira Michelle, Paul Weez, 2:19 AM, and all the bloggers, radio hosts, and friends that share my music.
Tell us about your future goals.
The future goal is to be the best rapper of my time. Invest in my community, provide opportunities for my people and invest in long-term wealth opportunities.
Go into detail about your opinion on religion and politics.
I’m not big into politics, but I see a lot of corrupt behavior in that field. Religion isn’t my strong suit either, but I do truly believe and trust in a higher power. People often think I am Muslim due to my name Wallahi G and its Arabic/North African origin.
Elaborate on how you think your music is inspiring your fans.
I give my fans a space to feel. I tell the untold stories of my fans. It’s OK to feel. Hip hop is missing feeling outside of hype music. I make music for Sunday thru Thursday. Those other rappers can have the other 2 days.
Explain the changes you have observed so far in the music industry.
Thus far, the producers get unnoticed and the rappers get all the glory. But the rappers aren’t really saying shit. We’re just enjoying the beat on most songs out.
State the artists you cherish most and your reason.
Drake – he makes music for every feeling, thought, theme and situation.
Give us the links to your social network and stores.
Wallahi_G on IG & Twitter.
Elaborate on how you develop your lyrics.
I develop my lyrics by randomly writing stanzas throughout the day until I build up the confidence to create a verse from my scattered thoughts.
Tell us if you enjoy collaborating with other artists or just singing as a solo artist.
I mostly like collaborating; with 2:19 AM, he’s an R&B singer based out in Nashville. But I like rapping by myself, I haven’t asked for a feature from another rapper.
Brief us your opinion on making music that makes people dance or making the kind of music with a genuine message that inspires them.
I’d rather make the kind of music that inspires people but I also like party music. I prefer to make both but for my newest tape, I’m looking to speak to people’s late-night thoughts.
Tell us what you know about copyright.
Copyright is important and all of my music is federally copyrighted.
Elaborate on how you develop your melody and instrumentation.
I usually am on the receiving end of the beat-making process. But I won’t buy a beat unless it speaks to me before I get the chance to speak on it.
Go into detail on the recording process of this song.
I wrote the second verse and freestyle the first verse afterward. It took 5 studio sessions to create this song. We couldn’t come up with a chorus so my producer had the cool idea to look into my voicemails and see if I had some that for the song and the chorus space. Turned out I had 4.
Discuss your music performance.
Performance-wise I like to engage with the audience.
Tell us how you will rate yourself as an artist.
As an artist, I rate myself an 8 with a lot of room to grow. “Homie. Lover. Friend.” coming soon.
