You’ll Be Lying in My Grave – Martha Welzant

Discuss your existence.
I have lived through some very trying times in today’s crazy world.

State your favorite genre of music and your reason.
Folk – I like the instrumentation and the tempo.

Tell us your experience as a musician.
I have over 100 songs published, but this is the first under the name Martha Welzant.

Tell us the theme of your song.
It is a true story about a man who buys a cemetery plot for a woman whom he has not asked to marry.  There is a marriage that ends as he finds an old flame on the internet. She returns the deed to the cemetery plot to him and realizes that another woman will be lying in the grave that was bought for her.

Name the people behind your success and thank them on this platform.
My parents, who are now deceased, read me poetry as a child, so writing seemed to come naturally.

Tell us your future goals.
If a major label picked up one of my songs; that would be nice.

Analyze the transformations you have discovered so far in the music industry.
Country music does not resemble what previously called country.

State the artists you cherish most and your reason.
Joan Baez – her voice and her stands on issues.
Mario Lanza – his voice.
Jim Croce – he did it all, wrote the lyrics, music, sang, and played.
John Denver – same as Croce.
Petula Clark – loved the material.

Elaborate on how you develop your lyrics.
When I feel something, I write and it does not take me that long.

Tell us if you enjoy collaborating with other artists or just singing as a solo artist.
I have done some collaborating and some duets – I have written for other artists, some who can sing but not write and who have marvelous thoughts.

Brief us your opinion on making music that makes people dance or making the music with a genuine message that inspires them.
The lyrics must say something, not be trite – you don’t write just to write, you write because you feel and have something to say.

Explain copyright.
Legal Protection.

Elaborate on how you develop your melody and instrumentation.
I do not always write the melody but sometimes I hear it in my head and sort of imagining the instruments.

Go into detail on the recording of this song.
Went to Legitsound and the owner was of great assistance in the instrumentation.

State your artist’s name and elaborate on it.
