Young Planet - Chosen Few
Discuss your personality.
We are 2 crazy dudes who are obsessed with making and performing music. We do it because we love it and it’s so much fun for us. We always try to put positive energy in the universe.
Brief us about you as a musician.
We draw from a melting pot of inspiration. Although we primarily create Hip Hop music we like to incorporate elements of many genres into our sound. Both of us are self-taught which gives us our own unique style.
Go into details on what has changed in your life for choosing music as a career.
Mainly free time. Pursuing music is extremely time-consuming. It’s harder to hang out with friends and girlfriends or even have lazy off nights. It’s really a nonstop grind that requires daily upkeep and building. You really have to love it.
Tell us the benefits and drawbacks of choosing music as a career.
The benefits are that feeling you get when listening back in the studio and realizing you brought one of your visions to life. Another benefit is at shows when you have the connection with the crowd and you’re holding the whole venue in your palm it’s complete nirvana. The biggest drawback is really the constant struggle for exposure. You can make the best music in the world but if no one hears it, it won’t do any good.
Tell us how you will manage fame as an established artist.
I don’t think it will change who we are at all. It would be great to know our music is being heard by a ton of people and connecting.

Let us know the greatest moment of your music career.
There been many but a stand-out moment was working with the late great video director Alex Ghassan. He directed and shot the videos for our songs “Thought Police” and “Resurrect on Jupiter”. It was an honor and we will forever treasure those visuals.
Tell us the highest amount of money you have ever received from your music career and how it happened.
$1000 winning a rap battle in Baltimore.
Discuss your experience pertaining to live performances, gigs, shows, and tours.
We’ve had amazing turnouts and responses at our live shows this past year. Performing multiple shows in NYC and MD has really built a buzz and become a major strong point for us. Looking to branch out in 2018 with more shows on the west coast and hopefully getting on a tour.
Tell us how you interact with your fans.
Like they are family. Our music is very personal to us and when it connects with someone it’s a beautiful thing and we will never take that for granted.
Tell us what you will like to change if you have the chance to turn back the hands of time.
Nothing, we have been incredibly lucky to still be able to do what we love. All the trials and tribulations have only made us stronger and led to better music.
Tell us about the start of your music career.
We met at Chung King recording studios in Soho NYC in 2006 which was known as the Abbey Road of Hip Hop. After working together at the studio we realized how our strengths complemented each other and it inspired us to take our music dreams to the next level.

The Beatles, Biggie, Pac, Ray Charles, Marvin Gaye (all of Motown), Carole King, Mavis Staples, James Brown just to name a few this list is endless.
Tell us about your moment of rejection as a musician and how you are able to cope and move on.
At first, your ego can get in the way. But when you study and learn from the greats you realize almost all of them have been rejected at some point along the way. If you don’t learn how to cope and use it as fuel then this game isn’t for you.

Elaborate on the recording process of this song.
It took us about 3 hours to make “Chosen Few”. Everything clicked on this one. Eibol started with the drum pattern and while he added elements to the beat Cidida wrote and structured the verses. Once the beat was complete we both sat down and wrote the lyrics and melody to the hook. The following weekend we brought in our friend RJ to play trumpet parts that added the finishing touches to the song.
